I don't know if this belongs here, but I've gotta vent. I'm so happy to be moving soon because my comm fucking sucks. Every meet we plan falls through, and half of the members are itas and the other half are just lurkers who own one bodyline skirt. You could have just asked if any one was going without mentioning who's running it. She lurks here and will chime in when she's given a chance. You're trying to start something where there's nothing to start. Don't go if she makes you uncomfettable. Arizona tends to derail threads because of those who shall not be named. So just avoid even mentioning them and we can finally shake this bad image that we are a bad comm because they can't let old drama go.

She did it that way so that the girl didn't attack us for talking about something so sensitive with the counselor/behind her back but it definitely made her withdraw from everyone for a while because she didn't know who she could trust. I don't see where she was being a bitch anywhere, can you explain? She literally just posted links to articles with solid evidence against the Leighs and informed the OP of just what she was getting herself into.

People being accidentally bumped out of comms has happened everywhere at some point. Are you a member of other comms? It happens fairly frequently.

While we want everyone to shut up, it also needs to be said that the SIW promoters are kind of loud. They like to go on and on about SIW 1) without mentioning the controversy, and 2) when people call the Leigh's out, they dont even TRY to hide or excuse them. They just simply promote without a care while knowing that it is a major divider in our comm.

>>9373051

Now going back to lolita conventions. I realized that HLC comm can't even host one because John has managed to over run them completely. He's even taken over the areas that HLC hosts. This has been the sad reality here. John tries to overtake the lolita community and will go after anyone who goes against him. Someone who has the same idea of hosting lolita cons and was saught after John is. It doesn't matter who is or isn't in the community. Of they're doing anything lolita related, John would do anything in his power to make sure they don't succeed. That's why none of the lolitas can make legitimate programs for them. Speaking of Oni Con, John kicked out Oni Con out of Houston. That's why they settled in Galveston. Away from John's reach. According to some of the staff and UH members.

Honestly, it just can't be up to the anti-AM mods to combat the Leigh's presence. More of the community has to support them and other events. The other events don't even have to be more successful than AM, they just need to be successful enough to stay afloat.

how delusional do you have to be to believe that a 1-day convention organized by what was (at the time) one of the best resources for ouji, on a day that at the time had no AM programming, was done to "upstage" anyone? it was a small event, more like the kind of special meetups or tea parties people might schedule before or during a convention for a community to gather while everyone was already travelling to the same area. the events were complementary, not competitive, until John decided to run them over.

hosting events or gatherings not officially sanctioned by the big weekend con is not "upstaging" the con, unless you are already insecure and paranoid.

Having to walk around in public with obnoxious itas is bad enough without everyone in a five mile radius being able to tell they're men. One guy in particular only wears ankle socks, never tights, bloomers or an underskirt, has skirts that are too short and yet he always sits with his unshaven legs spread wide open. And you can't say anything because that's body shaming. I've started avoiding meet ups he'll be at if we'll be using public transport as a group because I can't stand the embarassment.

Sorry if I've come across as shady. Club fees go to fund totally free events for members and usually come with a t-shirt. They also do fundraising events open to the public which fund trips for the club. Social clubs outside of a university context often charge annual membership fees as well. If it was all open and clearly documented, I don't imagine it would be too untrustworthy. Also, not too sure on how effective it would be at keeping our poorfags considering the usual membership fee is like $20 USD.

lmao.

I too have similar dreams for the future. Like a lot of lolitas, the fashion got me out of my shell when I started out, it helped me learn how to makeup and style, and I made a lot of friends along the way.

As I get older, I realize that I lost much of my normie friends because we're busy with our adult lives (family, work, school, etc.), and as sad as excuse as it is, lolita gave me a reason to socialize with like-minded people outside of work. Adulthood is terribly lonesome, whether you're single, attached, or starting a family. It's not like when you're a kid, you could easily knock on your neighbor's to hang out, and the pressures to conform is worse.

I've been a lonelita for a while but I recently got active in my local comm. It's very small and over a large area, and there are around 12ish active members, all spread out throughout the state where I live in. Most of them live at least an hour away from me, and most of the ones that I have met are younger highschool ita types. Everytime there's a meetup, its in a place like a small local mall's food court, a dirty bowling alley, a rundown arcade, etc. I would really like to have a meetup in a more classy, clean, and quiet place such as a cafe or museum, but everytime I try to suggest going to such a place this girl says they rather go to malls and bowling alleys because "not everyone has a lot of money to spend." By the way, the places I'm recommending are all pretty cheap and affordable: a local Korean froyo place, a quiet cafe, etc. I'm thinking of just hosting my own meetup at one such place, but I don't know many of the comm members well as I've only been to a few meetups and I'm worried no one would come. Yeah, decriminalization is nothing compared to I can walk a block and buy an ounce in a shop that is in the downtown metro area where the rich old folks live. (the old folks are also in line to buy lol)

Also slang for weed is different in different areas, I should have noted that when I told my silly story. That guy was generally embarrassing too, it wasn't just that he called it that but he was also the kind of pothead to talk about it nonstop unwarranted. Which can also be seen as annoying and probably the #1 reason people on 4chan don't like people talking about it. Any other board and you'd "memed" into oblivion.

That goes for in real life, too. Some people get annoyed real fast when the pothead wants to talk about pot because it's a common stereotype for stoners be all "HEY GUYS I AM STONE RIGHT THIS MOMENT LISTEN TO ME BE HIGH WHILE YOU ARE NOT"
So just stray away from stuff like that.

The best way I've been able to mention to people without it being super obvious like the above was to just say I smoke and then when someone assumes cigarettes - I correct them and they usually either chime in like "oh, me too" or they just change the subject and I move on as well cause it's clear they aren't interested.

Also I haaaate getting lumped in with other people like that. I always make it a point to tell people why I don't listen to reggae. Like it seriously wouldn't be in my best interest in the area that I live in to just be another annoying pothead with a Jamaican flag.

Look forward to hearing from you!

I mentioned that type of behavior in one of my posts.
I actually met a really cool girl because she was trying defend herself in a thread where she casually brought up working in the weed industry. She was just mentioning her job and people got pissy. It was amazing. Then people accused her of blog posting even though they were the ones engaging her in the first place. (well she shouldn't have defended herself hurrr)

In real life I get it. Here? yeah there are lots of underageB& fools on here but honestly I think those posts are obvious and about really fucking immature shit - like the unbearable shoop nonsense going on in another thread. Also above comment in parenthesis. Underage folk don't have very expansive minds yet and rely on repetitive humor because it isn't lost on them yet so they still actually find stupid shit like pic related funny.

Do this! I mention it anytime I host a meet so people can plan ahead for budget and dietary needs.

I apologize for the state of the comm. Feel free to PM me (Lily) next time. I'd love to hear what sort of ideas you have to make the comm better (or for anything, really. Sometimes I feel like a lonelita, so it's nice to chat online too). I won't reprimand you, but please, next time, just PM the mods if you have any issues. I might be more understanding than the other though since she doesn't go on 4chin.

In the mean time, I'm going to have to start taking control of the comm again and/or encourage the older members to be more engaging. I really miss hosting proper meets at nice places like cafes and historic homes - and thing is, they're not terribly expensive places either.

I appreciate the younger/newer members' enthusiasm, but I've seen that the guidelines of allowing members host meets have kind of backfired on quality of events.

The problem is that our comm is split with younger girls just getting into the fashion and older people who can afford the fashion, but are busy with university and/or work/adult lives to be able to host meets often (myself included), and of course, distance is a problem which I hope can be solved with people making an initiative to reach out to lolitas in their area.

Hopefully things will improve when I move back to the McLean area, that way I can be in between the north and central parts of CIL

Btw, I've compiled a list in the file's section on places to visit in the area. It's a WIP, but I hope it'll help give you ideas in the future.

The girl in my comm is diagnosed too but I don't think that makes it any less bullshit. She reeks of hypochondria.

I'm not looking to talk about those with actual problems. I want to hear about other people who have encountered people who complain WAY too much about something physically being wrong with them when nothing is visible, they show up to meets, and yet all they do is whine about how they're dying.

So far, the hardest part is the fact that every time I meet someone who would want to join, they live somewhere else entirely. Always in another country or just plain on the other side of the globe.

The community is a wild dream I will keep chasing. It's gonna be years before I have enough money to get us all together for a giant event. But that's my dream and since it's gonna take so long, I can at least accumulate more dresses until then.

Some low key drama in my comm:
>be admin
>other admin doesn't participate in the fashion >literally still admin because she is a control freak
>Suggests we make a secret comm for friends only and delete the normal comm
>The comm is active, she and her circle are the ones who don't really participate
>Offer X or Y member to take her place since she is seems to be looking for an out
>Control freakness kicks in

I still feel disgusted.

I kinda wish my comm would do a FB purge. Last time I checked there were 300+ members but only like 50 of those ever say or do anything. Also it had a really cringy brolita posting disgusting coords but ofc since it's LGBT it has to be asspats only.

If there is another lolita lgbt group to be made I sadly foresee it going the same way unless we have a lesbians/girls only one.

This so much. I have no issue with people being trans, but its the trans' people's attitudes that I abhor. They ruin everything and make it about them whining or attention seeking.

#NotAllTransPeople
But you probably wouldn't know it because most of the nice ones don't make a point of telling you they're trans. Though I suppose they also don't usually seek out LGBT in ___ sub culture groups.

It really annoys me that there's some loud minority of people hoping on the 'gender fluidity/etc is cool' train, but you guys should also be able to recognize that those people aren't representative of all trans people in J-fashion.

Excluding everyone because some of them are awful is explicitly transphobic, it's not an SJW thing. It'd be like banning all the bis because there's some loud minority of I-only-date-men-but-claim-I'm-bi people in these groups.

If someone wants to make a group exclusively for biologically female lesbian lolitas who ride unicycles and not allow anyone in who is not all of the above then they fucking can??? Like, if you feel excluded you're free to make your own one and people are free to pick whichever one they want to join but you are not entitled to be a part of everything you want to be a part of.

I know a lot of lolitas with illnesses use lolita as a pick-me-up or a form of escapism. That might be why it's common to see.

I have a visible chronic illness. I sometimes have to use a cane or a wheelchair depending on how bad my day is. I always feel like a burden to my comm. I try to avoid talking about my illness but sometimes I need to take a break in the middle of a meet or have to avoid more active meetups. I try to be accommodating and let the meet go on ahead of me. I hope that I'm not bothering my comm too much. I feel like I'm such a nuisance to them but I love being part of a community with something I love like lolita.

She had to move the net because of weather. It's supposed to rain all week and Katy park was the ONLY park with a pavilion available. And it's not 1.5 hours away from the original it's about 45 min. Learn where this are, it's pretty much right off of i-10 so it's a straight shot.
Also if her friends are the only ones going maybe it's because they are the only ones that actually come to meets? It's not her fault that like 10 people are the same people they go to all the meets.
If you guys don't like the meets she puts together for fucks sake make your own and stop complaining. Everyone is invited to every meet, it's not like she just invites the same people.
