Find a thrift shop or antique craft mall. Churches tend to run thrift stores for extra funds and donation practices.

Its understandable not completely knowing how to do the fashion but take time to gather images of dolly kei that you like and try to emulate it. Thats how you learn.

Feels like you're missing little things, and that it could use more gold. I definitely think a lapel pin or brooch, possibly a pocket watch on a long necklace chain depending on how big you go with said lapel pin, and even consider a brooch pinned onto the jabot just above where the chain is sitting. i would suggest to avoid anything satiny or shiny, and watch out for low-quality lace. but i think the quality of many items must be at least as good as Bodyline or F+F, so consider checking here if you are too large for brand.

has anyone purchased these F+F pants and know how the fabric quality is like? I have a couple of IW tops/vests that I want to coord with puffy pants + beret and these are the only ones I can find that come in brown and are cut like pants and not bloomers.

All Lockshop boystyle wigs in the above link are $30, down from $40. These are part of the infamous Anime Matsuri Wig Crisis of 2015.

Review of Lockshop's Prince wig:

It is very fluffy, and has a feminizing effect. If you are going for a bishounen look, it might be a good choice. If not, I would not recommend this wig.

The wig fibers are soft and I have not had a problem with them tangling. However, as a novice styler, I feel out of my league. Compared to the stock image, the length is more uniform around the wig, without a defined bang area, and the wig in general tends to fluff out at the sides. I think I will need to trim mine significantly to get it to lay the way I want.

It may be worth the sale going on today, especially if you are not a novice styler. The fibers are very nice and the color is gorgeous. For those reasons, I wish it worked better for me, but the wig's fluffiness is a serious matter to contend with.

I have a problem: My hair is long and thin and I have sensitive scalp. I would use wigs but my head starts hurting easily. Does someone know good hairstyles for me that would fit ouji or should I just buy lots of hats to hide my hair?

for thin hair, look for styles that create the illusion of volume. this usually means short along the back and sides and layered on top. if you keep longer sections, you have more styling options as well. if you get highlights that will also help add to the illusion of volume.

Anyone have tips for easing into ouji style? I've lurked around comms for years but have been worried boystyle, particularly the less aristo boystyles, will look ridic on me. My current dressy style is more steampunk/neo-Victorian but a lot of that is boring as fuck unless you want to glue gears on everything (then it's ugly and boring)

Probably going to do handmade or maybe custom, I've never seen a Japanese brand with sizes I won't Hulk out of (and only a few taobao brands)

first, dress for your body type. if what you're wearing fits and flatters you, you can get away with a lot.

second, look to historic fashion for your inspiration. a lot of ouji calls back go Rococo fashion, so focus on that rather than the schoolboy look. "Grabdpa Adel" from Life's Sweet Essentials pulls this off well, and his age actually adds to his princely look.

historically, princes have come in all shapes, sizes, and ages. the kawaii shota look may not look good on you, but something akin to pic related could. to keep from just looking like a historic fashion reenactor, add flair with matching brand (major or indie) accessories, like jabots, bow ties, and jewelry. also look for printed legwear you won't stretch out; short, fitted breeches with eye-catching socks and dapper boots are very ouji.

The layers are a modified ruffly skirt lol (it's an atternating pattern of small polka dots and stripes of tiny embroidered flowers).

the issue is a dead horse by now but for anyone interested in history, i want to share to discussions on EGL about it, from 2005. they both boil down to an OP asking: "My Japanese lolita friend has no idea what 'kodona' means, and I can't find it on Japanese websites. What gives?" followed by various comments about how ouji is the correct term (though one Japanese lolita friend says no one calls it anything because it's rare), but fans of Plastic Tree started using it because it seemed to fit and was easier to pronounce than oujikei/oujisama.

I'd heard it mentioned jokingly ages ago that the mens' size was mainly for the likes of Akira. Taking a look through their shop, some of the coats and trousers are still available in the mens' size, but it's fewer of the new releases, mainly re-releases such as their trademark wide leg trousers and the Vargossa coat. Some of the problem with the lack of the draw is that even their more piratey/vampire prince boystyle stuff is getting cutsier, and less aristocratic, and leaning more heavily in the ouiji direction. Even their long boystyle Winter coat from this year was styled to look oversized, like a child wearing an adult's coat imo, especially with the overized buttons.

You're not the only one, anon, not by a long shot. AatP used to be my favourite brand back in 2011, but it's really gone downhill as gohic has turned sweeter. Even their old pirate/vampire aristocrat stuff has turned cutesy, focusing more on the ouji side of things. I go for IW and Boz for a more pure gothic look.

The main thing for IW really is the bust - you nee a small cup size for their stuff to fit right. That, and the shirring on the skirts being very strong, so you need as a whole to be very well below the max measurements.
As for them doing gothic pieces, their stuff lends very well, especially on the non-print stuff in the darker colourways, to a classical-gothic look, especially with the longer cut jsks. Some of their dark patterned pieces, such as those in jacquards, or florals, are really good as well. Their rose and cross print series recently was really pretty, and great for gothic, especially in the maxi dress cut. Just follow their updates, and you will see. The ouji sets they occassionally put out aren't great for gothic as a whole, but the vests on their own really can be great.
