It seemed like the people at the convention were less than thrilled to get their pictures taken at the con itself unless it looked like the person taking them was professional.
Can only think of three reasons 1. Hotel lighting sucked and everyone was nervous of looking like shit 2. People probably knew lots of pics would wind up here eventually 3. Some of them had obvious anxiety and were visibly uncomfortable in photos

I hope that they move to a big city next year, like one of my main points against going was figuring out transportation from JFK/LGA and extra costs. I hope they didn't do a 5 year contract with that hotel or something because the location sucks since you can't really venture out and even though guests will accept your paid for flight & hotel, it doesn't look that great in the long run. How about Boston, MA? It has great sight seeing for tourists too.

If I had a VIP ticket and the con invited guests who I was more enthusiastic about it would make a world of difference. This year I felt like I traveled very far to be treated second class (non-VIP here), and since I wasn't gaga about 3F or Haenuli everything just seemed sort of meh. At least I had friends to pal around with. The indie guests seemed pretty cool.

I didn't mind the location. I think it would have been just as (or more) expensive to be in NYC when you factor in higher cost for hotel, food, etc. I flew in from out of town and didn't have any issues getting there from LGA. There was a mall (useful for emergency tights) and some surprisingly good restaurants in walking distance.

I really hope TF and Haenuli come back because they are so much fun. My experience with overseas designer guests at most cons is that they are reserved and hard to talk to, but not this con. I also got a chance to talk to Cloudberry Lady and I would be happy to see her back as well. In addition to those I would be over the moon to see Leur Getter, Kira Imai, ahcahcum-muchacha, or Galaxxxy. I wouldn't be sad to see a major lolita brand but I feel like the style of the con more suits a smaller or not as specifically lolita brand guest. I'm used to seeing AP/BTSSB etc. at bigger anime cons.

My salt level about this con is somewhat stable.
It had its pros and its cons.

The only thing I'm actually salty over is the ticket price (all things considered; not worth it), but hey, nothing I can do to change that and the most I can do is not pay to go next year if I think the pros won't outweigh the cons.

I did notice that the price of the ticket is pretty high compared to say, anime conventions, but I saw if you volunteer for 12 hours you get a free badge? Seems like a good deal to me, especially if you're used to volunteering at events.

The weekend pass was $80 to start with, and included several concerts. To go to a Rasaputina concert you could expect to pay around $20, while the Boston BeauTease charge $25 for the bad seats. I don't know what Brilliant Kingdom would charge for a concert, but I enjoyed all three of those shows and loved that theu were included in the regular weekend pass.

If you are interested in performers alone, I think the weekend pass is definitely justifiable. I wouldn't be surprised if the ticket costs were high in part to defray the costs of bringing musical acts.

I think Rasputina was a perfect choice for an alternative fashion conference, especially with so many Neo-Victorian styles represented. They were instrumental (harhar) in shaping different alternative aesthetics since the 90s.

a "Your Opinion Sucks," Rotten Tomatoes-style panel where people have 30 seconds to make a case for or against a print, release, trend, or substyle. i need to tweak the parameters to keep people focused, and the idea is in its earliest stages, but it would be something high-energy with debate and audience participation. 18+ late-night event.

I agree. The concerts and the burlesque seemed like good deals to be included in the price of the ticket. I also thought the fashion show was great and something you could pay just to go see. It was 3 hours with many different designers and you could see pretty well even from the back. VIP passes were still the better deal and I hope they have more available next year, but I don't feel like ticket prices were outrageous. The tea could have been better for the price, though. A lot of the tables were only half full, no clotted cream for the scones, and not that much food. Also the masquerade was in a weird open location and that didn't really work. I would have combined it with live music or the DJ or something and moved it to the ballroom. But overall, I had a great time and will go again next year.

I had an idea for a drunken constructive critique forum. Come to the panel tipsy or bring your own drinks. A person is welcome to come to the front of the room and show off what they're wearing, then drunk lolitas can dish out what they like and don't like about their coord. You would be allowed to respond to the concrit and hopefully there would be some laughs, debate, and gentle roasting. In b4 a fight breaks out
