Different anon, but it's a common theme. Even girls who have left my comm after they stopped wearing lolita will still avoid bad lace, it's the one common thing that every veteran lolita I've met seems to share.

Either that or it's a generational thing. I remember there used to be a lot more debate about types of lace and types of fabric on egl, and now there's hardly anything. I wonder if the new generation of lolitas just takes it for granted that most lolita brands make their stuff with the good lace while the older ones used to have to point out that good lace was what seperated the real lolitas from the eBay itas.

Unlike other brands IW will take down out-of-season stock and then bring it back in when the season rolls around again. Assuming it didn't sell out during a sale and they didn't put it all into any of the oddment packs that went out during the year.

So yes, there's a pretty decent chance it comes back again. In fact, I'll go one step further. If you can find the product code, even when it's taken down, you can still email IW and ask them to look for it for you, though I think there's better chance of them finding it if it's newly taken down than if you asked completely out of season. Well, I have overcome my hate for cheap lace for lace tops like pic related. I think if it's for the whole sleeves the see-through effect is actually okay. But if it's for an accessory or headpiece I can't stand raschel lace.

Eh, the lace on that looks okay. Soft and supple enough to wrap around her form easily. Raschel isn't always evil, it's just a shorthand we teach newbies because *most (but not all) raschel is indeed cheap, stiff and scratchy.

The lace in >>8653136, though. The ones on the sleeve cuffs are so stiff they're flopping out horizontally instead of downwards. I really can't imagine that dress to be anything but cheap and terrible.

That's just me as a lolita speaking, though. I'm not really sure that normies care or can tell cheap lace from nice lace.

Raschel/cheap lace is like Poplin cotton to me. I don't mind if it's on something cute and cheap, but I sure as shit won't buy a $50+ dress that uses it.

Lolita hasn't taught me that some things are inherently 'bad', simply that some things aren't worth their price.

I have an old lady who lives down the street from me. She really likes my Lolita clothes and is always complementing how nice I look. Yesterday she asked for a favor, and while we were chatting she told me the next time she sees me she has something she wants to give me and said she thought it seemed like it was something that suited my sense of fashion.

It's a fanny pack. She hasn't given it to me yet so I have no idea what it looks like but, what the heck? What about frilly, elegant dresses screams "FANNY PACK?" Is it made from fabric printed with bows? Is it covered in lace? What? I am so confused and it makes me curious to see this thing so I can try to figure out what about it reminded her of me.

I'm just so floored by this. I knew she was a little bit kooky at times, but this was just the most confusing and weird thing anyone has ever said to me in relation to my clothes. She's a sweet lady and I don't mean any offence, just sharing this story for the humor and confusion.

>Tips:
>List bust, waist, length measurements in cm, that's the minimum requirement when listing lolita dresses
>Why are storenvy prices higher than etsy? You don't have to pay listing fees for storenvy

>"recently"... you literally opened up the etsy & tumblr yesterday

>> No.8655666

>>8655624
Thank you!

Thanks for the tips. The reason why the storenvy prices are different is because it's forced to use dollars whereas with etsy I can use pounds, it's kinda annoying. With direct conversion into pounds you end up with weird looking prices like $16.48 kind of things and I thought that may put people off if it isn't a round number, plus conversion rates could change and still be a bit off. I'll change it if it's really a big issue though.

I was thinking about the measurements but I didn't think I'd get as much response and was going to do it later this week. I'll probably do them tomorrow.

I made a tumblr about updates but if you think facebook is better then I'll maybe open that. I've been unsure about posting on lolita updates though, I'm worried about seeming spammish.

I get how you feel when there's already groups within the meet but you gotta keep in mind that meetups are supposed to be the place where you meet new folk. If they weren't okay with you working your way into their conversations, they'd meet in private.
Take it as a positive thing there's girls already chatting naturally with each other, that means they will have topics that you can join in on. And yes, asking questions is generally the best way to start the conversation. Also this may sound weird and obviously won't come up often: when you ask people to do you a favor and they do it they will end up liking you more. I know it sounds the wrong way round, but that's apparently how the brain works.

Yes definitely, that's the whole reason you're there! It's a great place to start as a newbie, it gives them a sense of where you're coming from. Maybe for some who've been in the comm much longer they might get tired of talking about it, but it's different for you cause you're just starting out and it's always fun to mutually gush with people over the things you love. Over time you'll be able to talk about other stuff too, it'll come naturally.

Nothing looked good, the fabric was embarrassingly cheap, my ss didn't even send me everything I ordered but I was like fuck it, not worth the fuss. I suppose I should take it as a chance to ask about that kind of stuff in case in comes up and show interest in learning rather than being all "errr I dunno", or to seem.. overly enthusiastic? Also, I babble a lot when I get nervous and sometimes it becomes incomprehensible because english is not my mother language and I'm an english-speaking country.
I probably need to stop worrying so much and just let things go with the flow.

As a seller, sometimes I feel like I need to point out that when buyers send me $20 for shipping, I only receive $19, not the full $20. And you can bet I'm not exactly happy to be paying for someone else's shipping, even if it's a dollar, particularly if it's something already cheap that some buyer is trying to haggle even lower. Yes, I can work the $1 into my shipping charges, but that same cheapskate buyer will soon be asking why I charge $1 more than what the post office says they charge, you can see that >>8656557 originally asked why CT overcharged for shipping as well as adding on paypal fees.

Some people really don't seem to get it, the post office is not going to ship an item for $1 less because "buyer shouldn't have to pay PP fees". Meanwhile that $1 never made it to me at all, paypal ate it, and they certainly won't be coughing it back up.

In a similar vein, I always figured CT broke it down to explain where all of the money went -- how much of it went towards the dress exactly, how much went towards the cost of shipping, how much you actually paid CT for her services, and how much of that money dissappears into paypal instead of her. If she worked the PP fees into her charges you'd think she's making more money off you than she should be, when in reality a small chunk of the money goes into paypal fees instead. So she's really just telling you that those fees don't go into her pocket, in fact, she never receives the amount at all. You send her $20, she only receives $19. But she has to invoice you the full $20, she just does the nice courtesy of explaining that $1 was eaten by paypal and will never make it into her hands at all.
