I just know there were other gulls there today, so let's discuss what went down.

Did you enjoy yourself? Buy anything nice? Any drama? Were the VIP tickets worth the extra cash?

Yeah, she's called something to do with jellybeans? She looked amazing modelling in the fashion show (when she was wearing an outfit someone else chose for her lmao).

So fed up of the kids at every meet now running around with no supervision. I think it's creepy to force your little children into Lolita outfits and just dump them at an event like its a fucking playpen.

Did you interact with them though? They were very polite, well dressed and clearly enjoying themselves.

Some of the older ones (I briefly spoke to one?) seem sweet and I get why a kid her age would want to wear Lolita. But some of the others just run around, push people and mainly it just seems like they'd have more fun elsewhere. I may be wrong. Also I got given their social media "business card" handed to me which feels a bit pageant mom? I could be totally wrong, just my current opinion!

Disgusting. I knew UK lolitas were pretentious but that is taking the piss. I hope they bought tickets for all their offspring. If the kids got in for free it's ridiculous. This in my mind has always been a mature and classy event. If more kids start coming it's going to be just like MCM.

Wtf

I can't believe people would bring kids to run around at a big formal event like Regalia, though. How old are we talking?

>>8596880
The fuck. One of the smallest girls came up and traded some of the cards with me, but didn't give me one of those things. Definitely sounds like they're being pushed to do this. Tbh they did seem way too precocious. Cute kids in brand is a decent ticket to e-fame.

all my opinions in one go:

Kyra was not even bitchy and so I was surprised (wtf Dom is nicer than her), Michaela was radiant, Pippa looked like a hot mess and is definitely my choice for worst dressed.

Too much Gobelin Crest. Poor Fujiwara looked swarmed the entire day and is suuuuuuch an Anglophile like we all thought, it's almost painfully funny. No mega disasters and mostly fun. Moss Marchen pretty much sold out in minutes and I got the distinct feeling people were shunning Krad but that could just be me. Herajika was there wearing a coordinate we've all seen before, looking tired and being aloof but that's not new. Yourpervert looked fab and is cool in person, door-chan was in the fashion show and looked cutest of all. Octavekitten was taking soooo many photos and just generally being a famewhore, and that headdress looked tacky as fuck in person.

Fujiwara says chances of an overseas store are slim due to demand but she would like to one day if possible. She also said foreign/western Lolitas buy more per person/per transaction but still less overall. Ask me whatever I don't know what you all want to know.

I liked the venue this year much preferred over last year.
But the Tudor headwear seemed like a bit much. I think what really bothered me is that nothing else in the outfits were really fitting or as historical or costumey as the French hoods and septers were, so they stood out. But if the rest of the outfit had had similar elements it could have worked.

Okay I know these kids pretty well as I'm a London lolita, and I've been to many meets with them. Cadence is just like that, she's a bit naughty, but if you wanted a card from her you should have just asked her. She's not a dumb kid as well, she knew very much what she was doing, and she knew that being little would play to her advantage and she could get loads of cards for free, also I ended up with a lot of her cards cause she gave them to me, so I didn't actually have to trade lol.

Did anyone notice the mess of the bring & buy room? It was new mixed with secondhand and all tossed on a few clothing racks.

>> No.8597632

I generally had a good time, but here are some nitpicks-

The gold breakfast was a mess, the room was tiny and there weren't enough seats, there were no tables.

The Q&A with Yumi Fujiwara was awkward. The translator didn't seem very good so there were totally different answers given to the questions asked. Fujiwara-san also gave very long answers, so the translator would omit a lot of information. The translator could've taken notes or get Fujiwara-san to pause at fragments.

I was hoping to see some new IW designs at the fashion show or IW booth but it was all old designs and hence quite disappointing. Fantasy Night Sky was sold at the IW booth but at a really inflated price, wtf? It should've been retail.

The raffle was a mess, probably because of time constraints. The numbers were read out continuously which caused some confusion and the prizes were not introduced properly which I felt could've been quite insulting to the donators.

Dom seems nice but I'm not really comfortable with him wearing a tank top and shorts. It just looks way too homey. I wish he kept on whatever he was wearing earlier in the event.

>> No.8597633

I see so many pictures of people with completely mismatching wigs and legwear. I find the pink wigs with classic coords especially tasteless.

I feel like I was the only one wearing Fancy Egg, so thank you! It was kinda put together last moment because I've been too busy with MGS5 so I'm glad someone liked it.

I was modelling for this and I kinda felt a little embarrassed because I think I may have just been too fat and frumpy. The corset could've been tighter to make it look better and I'm sorry I feel like I embarrassed the designer and the outfit. Overall though it was a pretty good day and sold a dress, I liked the texting system they had in place so I knew when to collect my money and then I could spend it. I got a nice violet fane skirt for £40 quid, never really knew the brand until seeing it there but I really love the skirt I got. I found it pretty funny also how majority of the IW stuff got sold as soon as things got marked down.

I had bronze though so I didn't really get to check out any of the gold stuff. I had to help in the morning with moving shit up the stairs though which was pretty difficult. There is probably some more to say but overall I feel like the event went pretty smoothly and civil though I wish there was more like a dumb treasure hunt game like the previous events and figuring out an anagram because that was fun.

Was pretty annoyed at all the tourists treating people waiting around to go in as an attraction though. If they asked it was fine, if they just started trying to sneak in photos that was annoying, like people going up and taking photo with a selfie stick without asking with a group in the background. The venue was nice but next to such a tourist hotspot.

I think the event was ok but it definitely wasn't anything to write home about. I got pretty bored after a couple hours. I think if they do a big anniversary event next year there needs to be a complete overhaul of what the day's schedule should be as the formula they keep sticking to is so tired.

There were a lot of people with no social skills who seemed angry or suspicious if you tried to say hi to them, so it was probably for the best I never got any trading cards (still not sure where other people got their starter pack from so I must have missed something). Bring and buy was meh. I thought there'd be a lot more to choose from but it didn't seem like a lot of people brought stuff in. It was well organised though which was good to see, with really friendly, helpful volunteers. The non-IW dealer’s room felt bare and dead, and there wasn't much to look at. I think having two separate dealer’s rooms was a bad move.

I liked the photo room and I hope the pictures will turn out well. The VIP room could have done with more seating but I was glad it was there. Didn't like the fashion show setup and even though I was sat near the front and in an aisle seat I couldn't really see what was happening.

There seemed to be way less in the way of raffle prizes this year, and a lot of them were pretty naff, like the makeup tutorial and some sort of cheat for a Victorian themed online game. However, there were a lot of really big prizes towards the end and I remember smiling when one girl looked so shocked and excited when she went up to claim her free dress.

Most of Baby's $1000 dresses look fine by themselves, the two biggest ways to ruin a coord with it is (a)not having a petticoat poofy enough to support all the ruffles on the skirt, and/or (b)doing too much with it. The problem is that everybody and their grandma are riding the OTT trend now, so girls tend to fuck things up by putting on floral crowns, underskirts, mustard tights and various other things with these OPs, when really the only thing they should be doing with these dresses is a basic bitch coord -- white tights, nice shoes, minimal jewelllery and nice hair. Late to the party, but first of all I LOVED big events like this and enjoyed Regalia. However a few things stuck out to me and as ypu know it's very hard to give feedback to the organisors albeit they have done a good job hosting uet another mega event, that's why I choose to post here.

Love the variety of big and small brands
Venue was absolutely gorgeous!
Lots of raffle prizes and nice goodie bag gifts
Photo parlour was amazing, can't wait to see the photographers' photos

xPeople kept trying tp get into the model's changing room because there were no signage. Seriously WTF? I would be fuming if I was changing and some person just push the door. This year there were lots of male attendees (bfs, husbands, brolitas, ypu name it) and makes it extra annoying. Some girls were guarding the doors at one point but clueless people still tried to gwt in!

xRooms way too far from each other
xIndie brand room was dead and empty. Bring and buy and clothing vendor rooms were lively and bright in comparison
xNo narrator at catwalk. Ok I get that we don't need long descriptions, but there wasn't any mention of brands. Just models coming and going. Like anon above said I find it quite disrespectful to the brands, especially indie since most people wouldn't know which print is which. I remember they had someone introducing the coord and brands in past events?

Overall it was good, I hope the organisors can refine the small but important details to make it even better.

It was my first time coming to this type of event and I had a lot of fun.

The Q&A was kinda funny in how much Fujiwara loves the UK. Someone at one point asked if she found inspiration from other European countries and the answer was along the lines of well... I'm going to Belgium after this, so maybe!

The VIP tickets were semi worth it. I got a silver ticket. I was happy with the goodies I got in my bag. There was a bit of a line to get in though so it was running behind schedule. When I got in, I went to the Bring and Buy and the indie's Dealer's Room. I had no clue there was another room with IW and whatnot until after the welcome ceremony. This was partly my fault - should have noticed there the first 2 rooms were lacking vendors, but some signage would have gone a long way. As another anon said, people kept going in an out of the changing room because of that..

The Bring and Buy as some pointed out had some indies stuff there. I had no clue the tables included Tokimeki and Pepfox stuff.. I didn't bother looking at that area of the table - so much regret there.
I also sold some things at the Bring and Buy. For some reason the texting didn't work for me at all. Did it work for others that had a non-UK number?

I went alone to the event and was really mortified by by being that one loner or something. But people were generally friendly and willing to start conversations with me. In the end I don't think it was so bad going alone. I tend to want to do shopping at my own pace anyways.
The only thing is I realized after the fact is I didn't take any pictures of myself during the whole event. I also didn't go to the photography room as I felt uncomfortable being the alone in my pictures, lol. Future loners, don't let this happen to you.

Overall, I still had a lot of fun and would definitely come again. I think the organizers did a really good job.

I think that the French hoods were fun for a bit of OTT Classic for a big event like Regalia, but definitely not for every day. Tbh, I agree with the coment made about them probably working better with more of a Tudor-Lolita coord, where the dresses are also based on the 16th Century French gowns popular at the time in the Court of Henry VIII around the 1530s. It's a better trend however than the cheap-ass Madonna crowns.

>>8597863
Though I love seeing natural hair in Lolita, this is definitely not the kind of hair I want to see.
She made no effort styling it and it's not really a suitable cut for Lolita.
I recognise her from CoF/Rufflechat (it's that Cordelia girl, right?) and apart from the hair she seems to have improved quite a bit though.
It's nice to see she has made progress.
Put a cute wig on her and this coord will improve even more.

All Jfashion is 'attention-whorey' especially lolita, what a ridiculous criticism. If you are going to an event you go all out, I seriously hope unadventurous people like you are ignored when it comes to making coords or we will be stuck with boring straight forward yawn-inducing crap until the end of time. Simple is fine for every day but Jesus, this is a big event at a beautiful venue with the creator of a major brand in attendance. On too of that, there are people whining about basic uncreative coords in this thread as well. Never seen so much salty jealous nitpickery in one thread.

>> No.8601954

>>8601924
This entire thread is one big salt flat tbh. Sure, everyone looked a bit samey, but it was an event with a very clear theme that was easy to adhere to for once. Is it really so crazy for people to wear their Union Jack to an event that was practically MADE for it? Even the designer wore it ffs.
Overall I thought it was a great event. There were a few points of improvement, but they definitely didn't make for a bad event. (For example the bring and buy was pretty chaotic and the two vendor rooms were far apart which meant the back vendor room got very little traffic the first hours. Both raffles were pretty chaotic as well, I think they should consider giving out less prizes but bigger instead of like 50 small ones.) I'm very impressed that TPC manage to organize something of this scale with so few people.
Also the tea party was amazing. So much good food (also for vegans), great service, great people.
Definitely worth travelling from the European mainland for.

This is what cgl has become. Nothing but nitpicking and complaining. I come here to see pictures and I have to remember not to read the text because it's depressing and gives a false sense of what the lolita community cares about.

Seriously, does lolita have to be OTT to not count as 'boring'? Even if it is for a major event. Not everyone likes OTT style, and it doesn't suit everyone.

I'd rather see a well put together, elegant outfit that works well, which might have an unusual combination choice, than a messy clusterf*ck of an OTT one.

There was one lady there who was wearing a beautiful, and delicately-printed jsk with a blazer and stilettos. The most OTT part was her large feather fascinator. She looked amazing.

>> No.8602095

>>8602077
This please.

This >>8601924 logic makes me think that these events are simply to and one up each other in the OTT contest. I'd really like a return to more basic coordinates. If anything - beautiful coords done in a more subdued way are probably a lot more difficult to achieve than piling as much stuff as possible on your head.

I don't know if I'm correct, but I *think* it might be sakurasheff?

>>8601346
Agreed. Too much stuff, not enough, well, coordination. I have no problem with anything from simple to OTT as long as it's well balanced/coordinated but a lot of these coords are lacking in that basic area.

Well it is Sonia Leong, she thinks she looks flawless in Lolita and has top tier art as she works in the industry, but in reality it's actually quite shit and looks like what a 16 year old Weeb would draw. I don't get why so many aspiring UK manga artists or Lolitas for that matter worship her stuff.

I always feel like she bigs herself up so much by name dropping all the shitty designers of her glasses/socks/literally whatever the fuck she's wearing when her outfits really don't look as outstandingly fantastic and unique and high fashion as she thinks. They just end up being neither runway fashion or lolita. Just really middle-quality outfits.

It is ridiculously fashionable to wear the Union Jack right now if you're British, especially as underwear, or to have a keyring with it, or a hat.

I do think the American flag is the same though, a lot of Americans seem to like to wear it.

One issue I noticed at the tea party was that people were split into two rooms, a nice big one and what looked like a darker smaller one. People from the small room had to stand in the big one for the raffle and to see the special guests.

I'm not saying it wasn't still great because it was, but next time, maybe one really big room, or split the guests between to equally well-lit rooms?

Her Lolita coords are all over the place. She likes to brag a lot about her lifestyle. On multiple occasions she's mentioned her cleaners on Twitter so she's probably pretty wealthy, one status including how she needs to stop keeping her vibrators beneath her bed as they'll find them or some shit.
