Is there anywhere you can print custom fabric that doesn't make you agree that you own the pattern?

I don't plan on selling it, I would just like the pattern to line a personal project but can't find the source of it to contact the owner because of how often used it is online, so I don't think there is any moral reason I shouldn't use it since I will not be making a profit from it.

Sup guys. I need to paint some fabric, nothing fancy, just a couple thick stripes. I've never done this before and I don't want to ruin my garment or have it turn out looking like a pile of shit.

Best thing to paint fabric with? I've heard screenprinting ink works best. Any brand recommendations? Will any big old paint brush work or should I buy something special?

if too thick acrylics can sometimes turn out shiny and if theyre watered down too much they have a tendency to bleed but they are cheaper and are easier to get than screenprinting inks and look good if done correctly. id say screen printing inks are better though cause they come matte and don't bleed. one tip though is to iron the area you used screen printing ink on (after its dry) to set the paint in case you're gonna wash it

Okay, just off the bat, I already KNOW this is a basic bitch cosplay, it's a closet cosplay, it's lazy as hell, etc. I am aware of all this. There is a point to it.

My bf's expressed his first bit of interest in a couple cosplay, because I bought him a new hat, in pic attached - we met whilst young and weebish, and he was wearing that hat, and it had gotten a bit worn and torn, and it means a fair bit to him/us. He suggested we could do these two.

I've wanted to couple cosplay for ages, but I don't want to spend $$$ and a shit ton of time if at the con he hates it, I'd rather do something cheap and cheerful so it's not a massive waste if it doesn't go down well. Bonus points if I get cute wellies out of it. Jake's outfit is based on what my bf normally likes to wear and feels good in. Thinking possibly yellow shoes for him, and for me the hoodie will be worn as dress i.e no sparkly hotpants.

Trouble is, I don't actually know Adventure Time very well, so whilst it's always going to be basic, I'd like to ask for some ideas that are...slightly less basic? I want to make plushies of their kids, and possibly her universal translator, but not sure what else. General opinions on the outfits would be helpful too. Thank you in advance!

It kind of depends on what you want the make-up for (ie are you looking for every-day make-up, are you looking for make-up for a specific cosplay, etc.) and your individual needs, but in general you'll want:

-Foundation: this will go over your whole face, giving you the appearance of flawless skin. It comes in liquid, mousse, and powder varieties. You can apply it with a brush, a sponge, or your fingers. There are literally thousands of shades to choose from, and it is very important that you find one that matches your skin closely. If you have skin that is dry, or that gets oily, you'll want to look for foundation that is made to deal with those problems.
Optional: moisturizer, primer, concealer, setting sprays and powders: these things will help improve the appearance of your skin and foundation, but as you're just starting out, just focus on mastering foundation application first. Moisturizer and primer go on before applying foundation, then concealer, then foundation, then setting powder/spray.

-Blush/bronzer: this stuff gives your face some definition. Blush usually goes on your cheek bones, and depending on your preference may be focused on the apples of your cheeks (the round parts when you smile) or may be blending back toward your ears, or may placed just below your cheek bones. Mess around with it and decide what look you like best.
Optional: contouring: this is pretty advanced, but this is even more dramatic definition of your face with highlights and low lights. Get comfortable with blush before looking up contouring tutorials.

-Eyebrow gel, powder, pencils: You can go as dramatic as you want with your brows, but do something with them. Something as simple as brushing them can make a huge difference. I like tinted brow gel that tames my brows and fills them in a little more, but lots of people like brow powders or pencils to change the shape of their brows. You'll have to figure out for yourself what you like.

>> No.8601977

>>8601973

Eye shadow: this is where you can go really crazy. Eye shadows come in powder, cream, liquid, and in any color you can imagine. You can apply them with brushes, sponges, or your fingers. To start, I'd get a simple palette with colors in shimmery and matte (shiny and not shiny) in some neutral colors (creams, browns, greys, etc). For a pretty basic look, pick a color close to your skin tone and sweep it over your whole eyelid. Pick a slightly darker color, and brush that into your crease (the part of your eye that sort of disappears when you close your eye). Sweep a lighter color under your eye brow, and finish it off with some eyeliner on your upper and lower lash lines. As you get more comfortable with applying eye shadow, you can start doing fancier stuff (and youtube is great for fancy eye make-up)
Optional: eye shadow primer: helps control oil on your eye lids, makes your eye shadow stay put, helps prevent creasing.

Eye liner: comes in liquid, gel, and pencil varieties. You can do lots of things with liner (wings, cat eyes, etc), but at the very least line your upper lid, above your lashes, and your lower lid as close to the water line as you can get. Most people opt for black liner, but you can experiment with brown or grey if you want a less dramatic look.

>> No.8601980

>>8601977
Mascara: That stuff you put on your eye lashes. I'd stick with black, although if your lashes are blonde or red you might look at brown mascara.
Optional: fake eyelashes: They're a pain but man they look cool.

Lips: lip glosses and sticks will bring some color to your lips (which at this point probably look pretty washed out). You'll have to try different shades and finishes to see what you like best (matte lipsticks are super in right now, but they can look very bad on people with dry lips). If really pigmented lipsticks seem intimidating, try some tinted balms (Burt's Bees make some pretty ones).
Optional: lip liner: this will help make your lip color last longer and give your lips some more definition.

A lot of this will come down to experimenting with different products. Drug store make-up is great for this. Just go into the beauty aisle and start picking things out that look like they'll work for you. Keep in mind that many stores (including drugstore and make-up stores like Ulta and Sephora) have return policies that allow you to return make-up, even stuff you've used.

If you have a Sephora nearby, use them! They are happy to give you advice, and happy to give you samples that you can take home and try. Having specific questions will help you get better answers ("I'm looking for a foundation that matches my skin tone, can you help me?" "I want lip color, but I also need something that moisturizes my lips.")

Ask in the make-up general thread if you want some specific pointers from the people here, there are lots of people with good advice and recommendations.

Good luck!

I have loads of the outer fabric leftover from making this Lulu hat.

I'm thinking of making another oversized hat but would like to try different methods (this one is a fabric shell over a padded wire frame), because I feel there must be a better way. Working with wire was a pain.

Can anyone direct me to resources for making huge hats?

Does really heavy interfacing work for this sort of thing? Sadly on too tight a budget to experiment freely (also why I'm making stuff out of leftover fabric).

you made that hat or used her tutorial? i've been thinking of trying the tutorial but i haven't decided yet. i recently used wire in a dress and it was a fucking killer so if you're saying it's just as bad for hats maybe ill find something else.

as for the interfacing, i used the heaviest i could get local for my skirt before i had to put wire in it, so i dont really think interfacing will help unless you manage to find something crazy. maybe the SUPER stiff stuff they put in collars, but other than that, idk.

(Not my picture, but the general shape I'm going for)

This is my first time making any sort of armor. I'm starting with a leg piece. I patterned my leg with plastic wrap and tape, made a paper pattern, then transferred it to craft foam. It has 2 layers of detail, like this image. Should I lay the detail pieces on before heating it and bending it into place?

For reference, I'm making a Zinogre set (Starting with the easier shin guard on the right)
http://i.imgur.com/xrolxvW.png

Question 2, how worth it is worbla? I hear it takes massive amounts to make a full armor set (Like, 400~$ worth), which is way too fucking much. Is there any other cheaper material I can use to cover/shape the final pieces? I'm just using craft foam ATM to get a rough shape.

I made that hat! Used Vensy's tutorial for reference.

The wire does its job, but it's just such a pain to work with. In the end I used a much smaller gauge than she did and I still had a LOT of trouble straightening it out (and that's also after hunting in different stores for wire that's as loosely coiled as possible). It has a nice effect because the frame isn't totally rigid, but that also caused it to bend a lot during transport.

I just don't want to use wire again really but it probably is the most straightforward way to make these kinds of hats. Maybe shaping chicken wire over an inflexible base would work too, that'd be a little easier at least.

Anyone have any tips for gathering fabric evenly?

I currently do this kind of drawstring technique, sewing zig-zag stitch over a string and pulling it, distributing the gathers by eye.

First, the fabric thickness affects the ratio of gathering you can do to a fabric. A very thin, open weave fabric like gauze or organza can be gathered as much as 7 to 1, quilting cotton can usually do 3 to 1, but there are really thick cotton out there where it's impossible to gather even 3 to 1. Go for a lighter weight fabric if you really have problems gathering anything and see if that solves it.

As a last resort, if I really need a lot of fabric gathered, instead of actually gathering the fabric, I do mini pleats. So instead of putting pins in between gathers of fabric, I manually fold a little pinch of fabric over, and pin it down. This method uses up a lot of pins, as every "gather" is pleated down seperately, and is very time-consuming as you need to make individual pleats across the whole length, which is why it's my last resort. However, the fabric will definitely not shift while being sewn down, and if you need to do something like gather 5-6 x fabric, you can do double pleats and pin them in place. Don't press the pleats in place, make the pleats a little uneven, and it will look gathered when you're done sewing.

Pic is a doll dress, but you can see the individual pleats with their own pins. After sewing, it looks exactly like the skirt was gathered. (I never use this for human clothes, too time-consuming)

In fashion school they teach you to do three rows of basting stitches. Start 1/4" down from the edge and space them 1/4". Pull the bobbin thread it's easier and space out your gathers making sure they're even. With three basting stitches you're less likely to have any shifting.

So I ordered one of these in medium for cosplaying a male character (according the site you should take a snug measurement though not too tight, which for me was around 90cm). It arrived a few days ago and when I went to try it on it was almost impossible to get it over both arms/my head without a lot of struggling, and pulling it up over my legs didn't work either since it refused to fit over my hips. Did I order too small or do these need breaking in before they can be worn comfortably? I thought it'd be best to check since it's still in new condition and I'd rather keep it that way so that I can return it if it's definitely too small.

I have a small hole in my jacket (1 x 0.25 inch, L shaped). There are frayed threads around it, and the material is decently thick (cotton duck).

I have material that very closely matches the hole.

What would be the best way to patch it so that the repair is as seamless as possible? I know 100% perfect is impossible, but I really like wearing this jacket around.

I was thinking of cutting the patch so that it matches the part where the hole is, then applying fusible backing on the inside and putting the patch in the hole. Will that work?

If I were you, I wouldn't attempt to form anything spherical by hand; the shape is much too perfect and imperfections are really obvious without spending a lot of time. Instead, you should try looking for hollow plastic spheres that you can modify (i.e. plastic ball bit balls, ping pong balls, etc...).

Off the top of my head, I would try to find three balls:
Two balls that are identical size.
One ball that is slightly smaller.

You would need some small fine files, a craft knife, and maybe a small fine hand saw.

1) Cut a section out of the large ball. This will be the front window.
2) Cut a section out of the same large ball, on the back side. This will be the access hole where you will work from.
3) The image you have shows that there is some thickness to the white shell; you want to represent that properly or the prop will look flimsy. The plastic balls you find will most likely have thin shells. Cut some thickish plastic strips to line the inside of the large ball's window. Use the access hole on the back of ball.
4) Cut a section out of the small ball, fit and glue the section into the large ball from the access hole.
5) Finally, cut a small section from the other large ball and use it to patch up the access hole if you want to hide it.
6) Finish and paint it.

If you manage to find a small ball that is transparent, you could even put LEDs inside the prop and light it up. Use a light pass of blue spray paint on the INSIDE surface of the small ball. Paint the face on with white acrylic paint. It might not even need to be transparent. A blue plastic ball pit ball might be thin enough that lighting it from within will make it glow.

Liquid latex by itself is basically just paint. You can combine it with other things (cotton, tissues, plastic, etc) to create wounds, or you can create molds with that you can fill with latex to create prosthetic.

Start googling "special effects make-up latex " or "special fx make-up latex" to see how people use it.

What specifically are you trying to make?

I'll post a photo of the dress from the episode it's in. The pattern I'm using doesn't have any of the dragon scale smocking, it's just plain. Would I just add some seam allowance into the pattern for the smocking or what would I need to do to incorporate that and have it still fit okay? Stabilizers are not intended to be permanent while interface or backing is. There are a few different interfacings that serve different purposes. Most of the cheap stuff is non-woven and doesn't last through multiple washes while woven and weft have more strength and last quite a bit longer. When I took my tailoring class in fashion school we basically only used weft interfacing. It's light, but is the most effective. I use stabilizers when seeing leather although I don't use fusible for that. It's just the matter of what you need to do.

OPTION 1:

I don't know where you buy them, but those shades have a very simple shape.

You can purchase some translucent acrylic from the internet. Inventables is a good place to start to get an idea of what you want (https://www.inventables.com/).). You can find cheaper stuff on Amazon though.

1/8" thick acrylic will be good.

Create a pattern and transfer it onto the acrylic sheet. Use a fine hand saw to cut out the pattern.

To bend the arms, get a heat gun tool and heat up the bend area. Once hot enough, bend over a steel rod that is about 1/8" in diameter. I strongly suggest to test the bending out first on several test pieces.

OPTION 2:
Go to a business that makes acrylic signs. They have the tools and materials to make the pattern for you. You can then heat bend it yourself.

First, you need to get some 3D models or a bunch of screenshots from many angles.

1. Focus on the brass work around the eyes, top of head, and sides of head. These appear to be the framework that everything else will attach to. If I were doing this, I would rip apart mechanical devices like old printers, cassette players, and videotape players. The plastic mechanisms inside these devices have a lot of the shapes you need with a little bit of filing and cutting. Use heat gun to bend plastic parts to shape and epoxy to glue on features. If you have a soldering iron, you can even use it to melt the seams between two plastic pieces together. Use screws for important strength areas though. Use clear plastic for the lens. Don't try to use lenses from junk cameras and telescopes because then you won't be able to see shit.

2. The gray shell is next. There are six pieces I see: top left skull, top right skull, left mandible, right mandible, left jaw, and right jaw. Each piece can be worked separately for the most part, except for where the top skull and mandible meet at the eyes. I have no idea how to make these pieces, but it seems like a thermoplastic like warble is a good idea. Instead of gluing them to the brass work, I would use small strong magnets so you can remove them if necessary.

3. The last thing is the "teeth." It looks like you drill holes through the mandible and jaws, then just slip in brass wire and wrap it up.

These are a bunch of parts I pulled out of a VCR once. It's easier to work these pieces together into a mask instead of making parts from scratch. Put some epoxy between the two surfaces before you screw them together for good measure.

For the tiara I was going to follow:

So all I have left are the hair tie, gloves, and the boots. I'm sure I could just find the hair tie on eBay for pretty inexpensive. Should I just buy some white satin gloves or attempt to make them? Also, what can I do about the boots? Should I buy some pointed/laced ankle boots and just dye them green?

Lastly, for fabric: satin or poplin? I feel satin would look "nicer" but all the cosplays I've seen don't really photograph well with satin compared to poplin.

Okay, first off, let me say I've only tried cosplaying once when I was younger and it came out pretty badly, so I only have a basic knowledge of cosplay-related things.

I want to cosplay as Ghirahim from Legend of Zelda someday (for reference, more towards the Hyrule Warriors interpretation), but I want to do it right. I was wondering a good way to go about the outfit. For the white, I've noticed that it's not just a plain boring solid white, but something with a little more sheen and texture to it. This picture was the closest thing I could find on google, says it's tricot. Is it possible to buy a few yards of something that looks like this and shape it into a bodysuit with diamonds cut into it, or is there more to it for that look? Also curious as to what material I should make the mantle out of in general, looks like it's two sides and the inner has some kind of that papery/plasticy looking material for the gold diamonds.

Main thing I'm wondering about is the skin color. I've seen plenty of bodypaint cosplays out there, and it just tends to look off to me, too flakey and unnatural. Most Ghirahim cosplayers also go for that solid gray rather than a more dark offwhite/beige-y color. Since Ghirahim's skin just seems like a tint of a natural color rather than something outlandish like green or blue, is there a solution to this? Something like spray tanning or something that just tints the skin so I don't have to worry too much about contouring or flaking or sealing or any of that jazz? I realize I'll probably have to do some makeup and shading for that nose/eye structure as well as cover the eyebrows.

>> No.8618081

>>8618016
Probably the reason the body paint you've seen looks unnatural is because people just paint themselves one color and expect to look good. Just like putting on foundation on your face, body paint will wash out your skin and make it difficult to see muscles, bone structure, etc. To make a cosplay with body paint look good, you'll have to learn to do contouring on all parts of your painted body.

You're not going to find a "spray tan" or "tint" in the color you're looking for. Even if you did, good spray tans will also have contouring. You can look into airbrushing, but a set-up can easily cost $500, and even then it won't look great if you don't know what you're doing. You can also look into professional grade face paint (Wolfe FX, Diamond FX. TAG, Kryolan, Mehron, Ben Nye, etc), and enlist the help of a friend to paint your exposed skin. You must seal your body paint, no matter what brand you use. You can also use PAX. PAX is pro's aide mixed with acrylic paint. It stays for a very long time and is very difficult to remove (because you are literally painting your skin with acrylic paint.) I do not recommend PAX for a beginner.

That being said, I would probably go with some kind of bodysuit/arm socks for this costume. Look up what Homestucks do, some of them have got the whole grey body thing down.

If you're up to learn leatherworking to make this mask, you should watch a few tutorial videos; it's much easier than you might think. You don't need any specialized leather tools to make that mask; just normal hardware store tools with a bit of modification.

That mask can be created using thick leather, probably in the 9 to 11 gauge thickness. If I were doing this, I would get vegetable tanned leather and:

1. Dampen the leather and lightly hammer it against some edges (like a rounded table edge and corner) to form it into shape. Form features like the sharp creases on the eyebrows, nose bridge, etc... Leather is sort of weird, imagine that you have to form it like Wurbla, but you dampen it with water instead of heating it with a heat gun.

2. Let it dry for 1 hour. It should keep its shape.

3. Dampen the edges of the mask. Get the biggest slot head screw driver you can find and lightly sand / file down the edges so it isn't sharp. Put the screw driver head about 1/8" away from the edge of the leather mask and VERY lightly hammer down. Work this around all the edges, making sure to dampen the leather if it dries out. This will form the little bevel / crease all around the edges.

4. Slick the edges down (look up videos on this)

5. (optional) Dampen the entire mask, then bake it in the oven at 200 Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. This will stiffen the leather into shape. It will feel more substantial and not like a piece of foam.

I see some bevels, but I'm not sure which one you're talking about. The connection between the left circle and the middle circle is different than the connection between the middle circle and the right circle.

Either way, I would create bevels by using a flat file and a round file. The flat file works well on the outside of the circles, the round file is for the inside of the circles. Flexible stuff like sandpaper and sand sponges don't work too well at creating circular features. If you don't have files, you should wrap your sandpaper around long popsicle sticks and chopsticks.

Maybe I still don't know what you're asking for and it's really just as simple as using sandpaper at few different angles.

Both.

If you're not using the actual yellow as a base getting a good base is easier when they're not on top of each other. Some basic contouring and so on could also be easier here.

But you should weather them afterwards since there's a certain shade from the scales. You can only know where to put that when they're already in the correct positions.

To have a cape like that you will need way more fabric than you think (I'm speaking from experience).

Try taking a towel or a sheet, and just bunch one short end up to two points. Lay them over your shoulders and check the structure out in the mirror. In this way you should have enough cape to look really majestic. But the fabric at your shoulders and neck will never look truly flat.

Accept this. The flowing cape will be worth it. The cartoonish edges are supposed to be the extra fabric, but making them that round will be a bother. Remember that you're trying to bring a very simplified drawing to the real world.

The buttons should be fake. I'd fasten the entire cape to the armor to avoid the red underside peeking up in the wind. Mind the weight both for keeping the armor where you want it, and how the fabric will flow in the wind.

My best tip for making any new garment with no pattern is to play around with scrap fabric on a smaller scale. Run around with sheet capes, see what a difference the weight of a towel makes instead and cut your newspaper to pieces. Soft paper like that is great for thinking about how to envision your ideas.

The game renderings don't provide a lot of fine textures on the vest, sleeves, and legs so it's hard to tell what it is supposed to be.

I would do a fine weave duck cloth. It has a flat utilitarian texture that seems like it would work well with the rest of materials used in the character. However, the fabric does seem to be a little bit shiny; I don't know where that is coming from. It's also possibly a thin leather, almost like a leather jacket.

Whatever fabric you choose, make sure you fold it over double or even triple layers. The stuff has some substance and stiffness to it, especially if you look at how the knee is able to hold itself up at the top edges, how the sleeves hides all the anatomical features of the arm, the thick lacing and eyelets used on the sleeves, and the how any of wrinkles that show up are very large but shallow.

Check out Catzia's tiaras maybe? So many people seem to forget about her but her brass tiaras are pretty great. Attach it to you skin somehow (ie with fashion tape)

>Should I just buy some white satin gloves or attempt to make them?
Making gloves is a bitch. I bought these ones off ebay for all my senshi cosplay. They're the perfect matte finish but still super soft. No gross shine in pictures.

>Lastly, for fabric: satin or poplin? I feel satin would look "nicer" but all the cosplays I've seen don't really photograph well with satin compared to poplin.
It's mostly personal preference but I went to matte satin. Joanns carries a decent brand I currently am forgetting the name of. When it photographs the "shine" is a lighter color instead of white like a cheap satin. I always like using more "fancy" fabrics for magical girl cosplays. But that's me.

2) Make loops with the two ends and tie them in a knot in the opposite direction (e.g. if you went right over left first, then go left over right this time)

If it's still too hard or the bow comes out weird, try the opposite direction first since you may be doing it upside-down. Otherwise just make a fake bow and have a latch on the back (concealed by shirt collar).

Hello /cgl/, complete newbie here and I need your opinion.
I have done some basic cosplays before, but nothing that required any sewing and other than patching up rips, I don't know how to sew. But I want to learn.

I want to do Bolin from Legend of Korra for Halloween and also an early November con.

So, do you think that his clothes are an appropriate beginner project?
And is it something I can realistically get done by Halloween if I start work now?

Also, any general tips or warnings would be nice since I have no clue what the hell I'm doing.

Sewing isn't too hard to learn. You have a solid month and I know people (experienced) who could knock out something similar within a few hours. Like I said, these are experienced sewers.

Could you get it done within a month? Yes. Absolutely. Do a knockup with some cheap fabric. Learn to use edging material and try out a few fabrics for the shirts. Personally, I'd like to see a jacquard fabric used in some of these costumes, but a nice, heavy cotton will worth without being too heavy.

Everything on his lowerhalf is much easier to make than the top, so focus your attentions and mock-ups on that. Because Bolin's clothing isn't super fitting you only really need to make sure your lines are straight and your edging is done well. You have a choice of lining the entire top half with the green (lining regardless is advised) or attaching the green where it shows. The collar will need to be made using interfacing which is simple enough and he's got an odd looking undershirt thing going on which I'm not exactly equipped to give advice on since i'm not sure if there's canon reference to what it looks like.

Like the other anon said, your costume's edging is going to be crucial because there's not a lot of other details to draw the eye. The picture is what I would do for the upper half. Two layers of fabric so when your collar and rolled up sleeves look right and not just tacked on. There are multiple ways to do the edging; this is my favorite method.

Good edging work requires good pinning before you start sewing. Don't just try to eyeball it and depend on your fingers to hold the edge in place as you run it through the sewing machine. It will end up lumpy and uneven.

>Also, any general tips or warnings would be nice since I have no clue what the hell I'm doing.
Always do tests on scrap before committing to your costume.
Watch videos of other people sewing; with only a month left you don't have time to learn entirely on your own.
Be patient as fuck. Never take a shortcut or skip steps (i.e. pinning everything up carefully before sewing).
Plan things out carefully. Don't gamble that you'll figure it out when you get there; it often leads to bad results.
If you fuck up for sewing, you can always remove the thread. If you do it carefully enough, it won't visibly damage the fabric.

General tips that haven't been said yet:
> Pick the right fabric
> Make sure you measure correctly so the costume fits and you don't waste fabric
> Hem the edges properly

Make sure that your finished product looks neat and clean. Maybe you're not the biggest pro at sewing, but if the finished product at least looks clean, people won't notice quite as much. When the stitching is uneven, hems are unfinished, and the fabric is all wrinkled it doesn't matter how good your work is, it's going to look like crap.

Agreed on practicing on cheap fabric first. It will save you a lot of trouble and money, and you won't waste the real fabric for your costume.

If youre worried about it looking to gaudy/silly just go to a thrift store and find a thin cheap frame that doesnt stick to far out from the wall- preferably a wood frame so you can staple on a fabric backing more easily. Yeah gotta leave the orange tip on otherwise people might think it is real and you may end up getting shot if you are black

Never remove the orange tip, convention or not. Police cannot distinguish between a fake and real firearm without the orange tip so they tend to assume the latter.

Is there any way to salvage spray paint nozzles that have been clogged? I've tried pretty much everything from soaking in paint thinner to using pins to scrape the paint out. If not, is there any other way I can still use the paint by getting another attachment?

Literally every part of this cosplay is done... except those random ass bolts installed in the arm and along the waist
I have no idea on how to install them? Would contact cement work? The suit is stretch vinyl so I'm worried it wouldn't stick.

contact cement might stick, but i've had issues with contact cement not liking leather/viynl like fabrics so i dont know. maybe test it first if you can? i know that you can use heavy duty double sided tape, but that really only works temporary.

Depends on whether you want to make it more realistic or more cartoony. I'm not too great at suggesting these kinds of things, but Kona cotton usually works very nicely with simplistic designs like with WW.

I have these pair of suede(?) boots for the longest cause I got it on sale. It feels like suede and the leg part is stretchy. On the label it said 100% Polyester - 30%Rayon, 29% Cotton, 1% Nylon if anyone can try to figure it out.

I wanted to get the suede dye so I can make it black but I was wondering if anyone has tried it before with Fiebings or other names or any other methods?

How would I go about making the body? I always find body parts difficult and tend to overthink it too much. Seeing it's the first noticable thing. Already finished most of the other parts. I was thinking of cutting the shelled parts and put them on a shirt?

>How would I go about making the body?
If you're talking about the chest piece alone, it looks like it's made from a bunch of overlapping scales.

>I was thinking of cutting the shelled parts and put them on a shirt?
Yeah, but use a fabric that doesn't stretch like a heavy canvas or duck cloth. Attach the scales with rivets similar to the ones shown in the image. Place the rivets so they are hidden by the scale that overlaps above it.

It's a design similar to historical Brigandines or Coat of Plates (except your scales are on the outside instead of on the inside); it should be comfortable and flexible. As you move your body, the scales can slide relative to each other. Just don't put the rivets of any scale too close to the rivets of another scale (less than 2" apart); otherwise they cannot move.

Look for stretch ribbed knit like https://www.fabric.com/buy/0421613/ribbed-sweater-knit-blue except in a lighter color.
Most Ms. Fortune cosplayers I've seen tend to skip the underboob (since you can get booted from a con for "too much exposure" or something like that) so maybe just cover your whole boobage? Or get those fake boob things like pic related.
Definitely paint the lines on since they're scars. Maybe use liquid latex or some kind of special effects makeup to make them look more like scars.

But, I *do* keep my prop guns covered on the way to a con if on public transit.

The best way would be to buld a vacu-form box and do it with 1/8" plexiglass. Make form out of eva foam re-enforced with expanding foam and shanded smooth bondo or the like. There is a spray paint called nightshades for tinting headlights on cars, if you can't find an appropriately pre tinted plexiglass.

Anyone have any good methods of hiding sideburns under a wig? I'm a girl with light brown sideburns, but the baby hairs always slip out of my wig cap, and it's a huge hassle to keep them hidden. The wig I'm using for my next cosplay has the hairline kinda blown back, so there's no long side pieces to conceal my sideburns. It's also platinum blonde, so it'll be really obvious if they don't cooperate. This has been a problem for me for so long, I'm desperate for any advice.
