So I recently did my first SM cosplay and I had a few questions:
1. How do people keep the pigtails from tangling? Maybe I just got very unlucky but mine were fucking horrible, they got matted and tangled up and that was literally just walking on my way to meet up.
I saw some girls wrapped it around the oranges, and some just cut them shorter for transportation sake.
2. This was also my first attempt at pleats, I used the DA tutorial that's posted around here a lot, but ever after ironing and using a basting stick, they kinda fell out a bit? not totally, but they didn't look like the clean crisp pleats i would have preferred.

Every time I've worked with styrofoam/felt for wigs it's always looked messy as hell/had flyaways no matter how small the sections I've worked with have been. Is there some secret trick that I've just been missing?

This was posted in the bad cosplay thread but really I think these are beautiful - especially Neptune's bow. Not sure of the material used though.

I'm making a fuku too and was given the suggestion of just buying a white leotard and going from there. I ordered a red bodysuit from discountdance.com and it was good quality so I think I'll order from them again. If you don't want to buy a leotard I'd suggest checking out this turotial:

You're right I really like how the buns are half the size of her head and appear to be slipping off. The lopsided odango shields are a great touch! The baggy costume is an obvious homage to that episode where Usagi dropped 20lbs overnight. If I remember correctly, her skirt brooch fell off that episode as well and it looks like she remember that on the costume too! Maybe someone else can remember what episode number that was?
The craft foam circles on her Serenity dress are especially regal looking. I like that you can see part of what's probably a secondhand dress peeking up halfway through them. That's really accurate to the design and it's very clever, just buying a random white dress and adding things to it instead of bothering to make your own like those elitist cosplay bitches do. Turning her shoulder puffs into armor pads that sit on top of her shoulders was genius as it really harkens to her Soldier transformation. Naoko was stupid not to use that design. 10/10, anybody who doesn't like this is clearly a hater.

Hm, these are okay. I have some nitpicks, I think the bows are a little off and the hip roll is WAY too big, and the V shape needs to be deeper. Also, I believe that there are only supposed to be 2 shoulder rolls and then the clear piece, not 3. Perhaps an attempt to use these for non-super forms later?
The biggest problem with mannequin senshi outfits though is.. well let's just say I can't count how many senshi outfits I have seen that looked great on mannequins but failed to deliver in person. I would not say that these are BAD though.
