I refilmed my VF review from the last thread yesterday. Before it was 40min long, now it's 20.

I messaged her today asking if i could get sent extra fabric to fix the skirt myself and if she was confident enough to completely redo the JSK (i'd send the old one back), but I haven't heard back from her yet.

Thanks for the repost.

I do think to some extend these girls just don't really know much about sewing at a level that's okay to sell. They want to bring unique designs and that's nice. Aside from somewhat shitty product pictures they also put a lot of effort into branding with a fancy site and all that. It makes the flaws of the actual product even more apparent.

Without meaning to offend, I think the bow is smaller on the stock image because it's on a very small dressform and your skirt is a custom ordered one with a drastically larger waist.
Still, the sewing of the items is unforgivable in my opinion.

Halloween prints tend to linger over retail year-round if they're popular. If they're not as popular I would expect them to go down around Christmas/Easter when people are trying to go after other holiday prints and might let older Halloween prints go for a bargain.
People tend to really sell Halloween themed stuff during the end of summer and right before Halloween though, so maybe that time truly is your best bet.

Just FYI, it's "Manilla" envelope. Not "vanilla" envelope. Also, that's technically a Manilla bubble mailer.

Wikipedia:
>In a more general sense, envelopes made of brown, unbleached paper, used for cheapness, are described as manila envelopes. The manila component of the name comes from manila hemp or abacá, from which manila folders were originally made.

Also, it's Violet, as in purple. Not Violent, as in fighting.

This one. It may just be the case that I only need to tighten the corset lacing, but since this is my first dress I am full retard and don't know how to really... tie it. The top of the bodice also fits kind of loosely unless I pull the sleeves down, exposing my shoulders.

The corset lacing on the front looks to be decorative. There would be no problem with cinching this, I think with a navy (black?) ribbon it would look lovely!
You can add corset lacing to the back across the shirring panel to cinch it in, that might be easier.

If they're popular they're going to stay at a particular price and from what I've seen they might go down a *little* bit in the off season (maybe $50 max) but in general like others are saying it just depends on the popularity of the print, even though it's so specific to one time of the year. Like, merrymaking always seems to go for $300+ whether it's a month before Halloween or Christmas Eve.

Thanks for the input, guys. Yeah, after trying it on again I came to the conclusion that the lacing on the front must indeed be decorative, but after adjusting the dress some I managed to get it to fit properly. I think the waist just felt loose because the bodice was "hanging off my chest," kind of? I think any visual problems should be cleared up when I get my petti for it. I was surprised to be having problems with it feeling too big, to be honest (46-34-48)!

I have the same issue. I padded a bra up two cups to fill it out at the chest with this in the JSK. Now I'm trying to move my LXLs for the M cut because I love the print so much but it's just way too large on me.

Wow, that's really awful. I remember I really wanted to get the l'oracle JSK too, but I'm also plus sized and at the time the reserve was ending I just didn't have the money so I passed. Guess it was a good idea because it looks like I would've gotten an ill fitting dress.

Sucks because they have such nice designs, but it seems like the owners didn't realize what they were getting themselves into and don't understand sewing to sell something to a broader audience (as opposed to just sewing something for yourself). It also sounds like they were nervous to please people? Like, instead of being open and honest that they were back logged or having machine issues and saying that orders may take longer to complete they just figured people would be happier to have a product than to wait longer. I would absolutely wait longer if it meant getting a high quality product.

I hope they get it together.

The designs are really what drew me to the brand. the website looked super professional and the few reviews I saw for their last release gave me hope. But I guess this is the first time she was offering custom sizing so she really doesn't know how to so for any body type larger than her own.

>>8572452
I explained something similar to that in the first video, but for the sake of time didn't mention it in this one.
My first thought was that as well, but really if you compare the bow size to the scale of the print on the stock image, it is smaller on my skirt. I feel like either she ran out of ribbon, or she was trying to cut corners by using less materials.

Hype and publicity. Her fame solely rests on being a lolita model/lolita kawaii ambassador, a very niche fashion. If the number of lolitas remain small or die out, she'd fade into obscurity along with it, no brands or events would pay her or fly her out to make an appearance.

So, once you're chosen as KA, you'd feel like you need to live up to the title of Kawaii and Ambassador by spreading the love of lolita, recruiting new girls into the fashion, educating them on what lolita is and how it's worn, holding meetups and maintaining an active comm so the new girls would continue to be interested, help them buy brand and buy into the KA and Misako hype. Essentially the KAs are doing Misako's work for her by hyping up the fashion, so that the brands can continue selling lolita (and Misako can continue modelling for them).

Ideally there would be a point where the number of lolitas has increased enough to hold lolita-specific events where brands would fly in and Misako would get paid to make an appearance. They don't all have reach that point in order for it to be lucrative for her though, just having the KAs out there hyping her up already allows her to tell brands that she's important and they should pay her more because she has a network of worldwide KAs backing her up.

Okay guys, I just got a message back.

She explained to me the reason she release two prints at once was because the people that print her fabric need a minimum order. And when she opened the reserve for l'oracle only 2 of her friends reserved, so she opened up the second series asylum. But then when they got shared on social media, more people were interested, so she got flooded with orders.

she basically confirmed what an anon said in the last general thread and what >>8573256 just said. She is a one woman brand, and also owns her own shop that sales other lolita items. So she works two jobs. And because she has been busy she pretty much ran out of time to make everyone's orders in a high quality.

I explained to her that if you needed more time, I could have waited. I'd much rather have a quality piece late, then a crap piece on time. (but in nicer words). She told me in the email that:
>most of the people want their items fast, soon, now. And las weeks of production period I was reciving some "when you finnish??" "I need the dress for an event next week!!" etc. People get super angry with delays.
This maked me work under pressure. Again I am sorry this situation afected the results.

She said she'd remake the Jsk for me. and then when she ships it back she'll include the extra panel for the skirt. (this is the solution I was hoping for, but I'm still wary of her execution).

However the problem I'm now with is How exactly do I go about asking for her to pay for the return shipping? Because I'm already out almost $300 for items that don't fit me, I don't wanna risk losing anymore money.

However I'm going to an event in a few weeks and there'll be a lot of lolitas there. Should I just not bother wearing my glasses? I mean I can navigate just fine without them, as I'm used to not wearing them in places like grocery stores. It's just I might not be able to see things properly when I shop and won't be able to see the fashion show all that well. On average the glasses I've ordered cost between $40 and $70 a pair depending on the options I chose. If you don't know your scrip, either ask for it when you get your next exam or pop into walmart, eye exam is about $60. Have you ran any real tea party before? Or any big event? Because it is a lot of work to manage this and you should not just jump to a brand right away. Unless you have someone who is pretty local and will donate stuff, affording a brand off the bat is expensive and overwhelming. Feedback from tea parties as of late have shown that many were not that prepared for the reality of the event itself hence issues with food and managing guests' time.

For a brand it is just approaching them about the idea, and you typically pay for their way there and manage everything around their needs such as what they need to bring if you want a fashion show/pop op booth, making sure that they have a translator whether it is their own or someone you get for them, and other set up stuff. Indie brands will be cheaper by far to do but a lot of the work is planning and dealing with a lot of pressure and stress to pull it off.

It might be easier to get an actual lucky pack set from a brand. Not a LP style lucky pack, but a set like the Meta Princess Wardrobe one - you get a dress, blouse, socks, headpiece. All you need to supplement is shoes and a petticoat.
When you get a set like that you know exactly what you are getting, and at a great discount.
Lolita Desu looks really expensive, you are going to be getting the pieces they can't sell and you won't get so much of a good deal on it.
You should start by getting something you love, even if it takes a long time to find. If you get a lot of meh items that you don't like, you will fall out of love quickly. Get something you really want.

Any advice on packing lolita for cons? I'm actually going lolita all 3 days because I'm dumb an didn't make any cosplays. I've only ever brought one simple coord before.
How the fuck do you delicately pack shoes and bags and stuff without crushing them? I have a good bag for packing dresses and blouses etc.
Also any tips on making daily coords more exciting?

>> No.8576329

>>8576319
For shoes, stuff them from the inside to hold their shape, I usually wrap mines inside a plastic shopping bag to prevent them from scuffing or dirtying the clothes/other shoes inside the bag. Put one shoe in every bag, tie it and pack it tightly around clothes to give it more support. For bags, flatten them and if they are shaped, use shopping bags and wrap it into a tube and start forming it around the shape. For protection what I usually do is put the bag flatten inside a shopping bag, then wrap the shopping bag around tightly and tape it, then I use my clothes to around it to keep it's shape and prevent dents. It's a better method this way than wrapping tube shaped shopping bags but it depends how you pack everything together.

And to your last question about coording, it's really all about accessories and hair in the end. It can make it pop out and even adding a new color that is hidden in the print can make a coord more exciting.

From what I understand, this is going to be hard to reserve. If you want to get it from Baby SF, you need to reserve it in-store. This might be a really hard set to find if you decide to pass it up, so I say just get it.

Check with the organiser. Send an email "Just to confirm, should I bring shoes..." etc.

Wear something easy to get in and out of and nude underwear/bra. Bring nude tights as well, and a cloth to put over your made-up face while getting into the clothes. Bring enough make-up for touch-ups, make sure your nails are neatly done in a clear/nude/very light pink.

I've done catwalk before, not for lolita, and that's the basics of it. If thy on't get back to you on shoes I'd take a white and a black pair, as well as brown if you can manage to take three pairs, because that'll cover all your bases.

Also, as the other anon said, practise your walk. But more than the walk, practise how to stop and then turn and start again. That's the tricky bit.

Start really really small organising meets for your comm. Work your way up until you are organising a large tea party for your comm with tickets and other activities.
You should at this stage have a group of friends you can trust to work on meets with you. This is not a job someone can do by themselves.

After this you could attempt a brand tea party but you have to consider the following:
- Can the local community sustain the event? There needs to be a big enough community to finance the event as these will be your main customers. Consider whether the community members have the financial means to pay for tickets too.
- Do you have the finances to front any initial costs? Money is generated from ticket sales however you would need to put down deposits for a venue before tickets go on sale which is expensive.
- Do you have the resources you need for the event? Translator, Graphic designer etc.

Indie brand might be more doable but yes you will need to pay for their travel and hotel so costs do start to add up

Have you only ever watched purely informative, science-based documentaries that Britannica puts out? Because documentaries aren't only just that. It's a legitimate art form, and it frequently uses a specific subject matter to get to a greater whole. That's why Gap-Toothed Women is about women who have gaps in their teeth, but it's also ultimately about the greater picture of beauty and perception and all.

That said, Kate sounds incredibly insincere, I can't see what angle this documentary is trying to get at, and I can't get past the bokeh at the beginning and the awful lighting. God, the cinematography is so bad holy shit

or use the shopping service to order from meta so they can both be shipped together?
I heard meta's shipping is fast to the us, but I don't know how it is in japan.

You should talk to her. If she ruined your dress, she should pay for it.
That sounds out more sinister typed out.

Meta's shipping is super fast, but you're going to lose another day or two if you wait for them to ship to your SS. If you're really pressed for time, I wouldn't delay the order with your SS, have them ship out the dress and order the socks separately.

I have three winter coats:
ETC Foret Gobelin which I think I'll only wear when I feel super fancy.
Bodyline l460 in beige which is super warm and I think will be great for more daily wear (I won't be too worried about ruining it a bit in the rain/snow).
Lastly I have a short puffy waterproof coat in black with a velvety black lace print on it which I bought in a normalfag store but could probably work nicely for classic/gothic.
