I have a couple that aren't great but are a little above ita-tier. Hard to find.

I actually love these and it really makes me want the dress. I think most Lolitas with this dress make the coord too complicated and cluttered, so there were a lot of awful coords with this around the OTT sweet boom.

On that note, anyone got good coords with Baby's ice-cream dress? It always felt like their equivalent of Radioactive Cupcakes in terms of wearability.

See this is the problem I always see with this print, someone has a pretty good thing going, and then slaps on a minihat, and those clunky shoes and ankle socks over tights.
I really like the black tights, they match the print really subtly, but the feed and the headwear just ruin it.

But I think the biggest problem with this dress is that it has no lace or ruffles on the hem.

But the minihat is adorable and it'd look unbalanced without the white socks. Black and white patterned tights would also be too close to the white in the print. I think socks and tights (providing they are cute in design/quality) are just another way to prevent wear of the tights rubbing in your shoes, dye transfer and balancing colors. Even white rhs wouldn't have done it with those tights.

An underdress or underskirt might also fix this. What is also problematic is that new school lolita lets alot of dresses that just look 'vintage' or practically skater dresses fly with no lace or ruffles as long as it has poof and a print (sometimes no even that) Then when people try to shoehorn bodyline and offbrand they are going by the rules that made that J et J or ETC dress ok for lolita. In my eyes 90% of what is on CofF is some other vintagey or historically inspired fashion rather than undeniably 'lolita'. Especially when you look at the pieces individually.

I agree about the lack of lace or anything, it just doesn't feel particularly lolita most of the time. When coordinated simply it will just fall flat and end up looking like gothic or vintage fashion. You need the extra pieces like accessories, a chiffon bolero and good quality blouse instead of a crumpled bodyline one to get dat real lolita feeling

I actually really like antique clock except for the full shirring and the neck ribbon things. And only in grey. I can't bring myself to buy it though because I feel like I'll automatically be hated. You'd have too much excess fabric. What you do to get that effect is you make the bodice bigger than it's supposed to be and let the elastic bring it in to the right size. You'd have to completely re-draft, re-cut and re-sew the bodice if you wanted it to fit okay. Even if you do that, you'll probably still have stitching lines in there. If you're experienced and don't mind some damage, then it's totally possible, if not quite a bit of work.

Nah, not a self post. It was just something I happened upon on tumblr.

Now that you mention it, I can see what you mean though. My logic behind posting it was basically just that the colours were decently balanced throughout the coord (for the most part) and the flowers she used as accessories matched the flowers in the print.
