I met a really handsome Hisoka this year. Ran into him on the final day (both out of cosplay) and awkwardly bumbled out how cute I thought he was while trying to keep all my spaghetti from spilling out my pockets. He took it fairly well even though he was taken.

Though I do have a friend who does really good cosplays with her sister and they were a Gon and Hisoka last year. I'll try to find their picture and post it next.

Pretty blurry but that does look good. Can't believe how much like Hisoka his original 99 VA looked like him when the actors put on those musicals. Had my sides hurting when seeing Hisoka making everyone dance with his bungee gum.

Now for 2014.

This started as everyone trying to sit on Killua's skateboard. Laughs were had.

Now to 2013. Really upset I never got to get this Leorio's contact info. All I know is that his sister pointed out she was his sister on tumblr and that was the end of that. He was a really cool guy.

And that's the end of it. Hoping there will be more at Midwest. Can't wait to take sewing classes so I can do Machi with purple hair. No idea how I'll style that ponytail of hers but I've always preferred the purple to pink. Though I'm biased since I saw 99 first, then read, then watched 2011.

i've made tons of friends through this series and its so refreshing because I feel like most of the fans are normal adults and not weird 12 year tumblrites (though there are some of those too)

I recently was able to put together a Phantom Troupe group (though we didn't have everyone) and now I want to see if I can get a whole Zodiac group together

Fanart is no excuse for that embarrassing choice of costume... It's not even badly done from what I can see, it's just the concept itself that makes me immediately dislike it. Maybe I'm a minority but it just bugs me that I see so many bunnysuit characters that have no business being in bunnysuits. And most are typically male characters. If they were cosplayed by actual men I'd be more okay with it but it's always girls...

Oh I'm not saying it was bad! The outfit looks clean and her wig/makeup are fine. It's more of the concept that bugs me. Obviously people can do what they want but I'm just as much allowed to think it's tacky. Good construction/execution and poor taste (imo) do go hand in hand sometimes. I can't tell you how many people I've seen cosplaying characters in maid outfits that just look silly, even though the outfit/wig look good.

Again, not knocking this girl's skill or whatever, it's just a personal pet peeve. I'm salty about most bunnysuit cosplays.

it kind of bothered me that they weren't in a bunnysuit too, but the Chrollo was still pretty well made, and I loved the spider tights choice. The kurapika that was with them looked really nice too, I loved how they did their ears in the gold/blue fabric

i don't think this was a "lets make these cosplays!" kind of group. pretty sure they already had their costumes made as leotards, and thought it was funny so decided to make it a bunnysuit thing for shits and giggles. I think the Chrollo and Kurapika who joined actually made theirs with the plan in mind
