Sakurain on Storenvy has a decent selection. Pretty damn expensive, but I assume they're reselling from taobao or something.

Aside from that I'd look it up on taobao, I'm sure you could find something. If you're really cheap you could try hitting up ebay or aliexpress for cheap plain ones.

Try searching words like "starry", "constellation", and "horoscope" on lolibrary. First thing that comes to mind is AP's Dreamy Horoscope (pic is the JSK), it's pretty similar in how the print looks, but the cuts are damn unflattering. Other starry prints that might work for what you want:
AP Shooting Star
AP Twinkle Star
AP Airy Star Gate
JetJ Star Money (good luck finding it, though)
ETC Star Georgette Pattern Skirt
Alice Garden Alice & Nanami Star Chiffon
Little Dipper Star Series

This is all shit I just found by searching lolibrary, there's a bunch more, too. Can't say how easy these would be to find, though. A lot of them are older.

Classic lolita. Go for dresses without border prints, and OPs over JSKs. Things like Mary Magdalene and Victorian Maiden will look more mature than say, an IW dress with a teddy bear print.

I wish there was a place like the old /cgl/ where we can discuss whatever lolita related stuff we want. I posted a thread dedicate to pics of dead lolitas and a mod deleted it, even though I don't see how in any way that's even against the rules. I also kind of miss drama threads.

I'm pretty sure that talking about people who have passed away is against the rules here and on BTB. It was added after amethystcitrine passed away out of respect for her and her loved ones, and to keep the rumor mill from going.

Also, I really don't miss 90% of this board being Kooter and PT threads with slight variations. "Kooter shoop thread!" "PT put up these new photos, do you think she gained weight?" "Kooter ED speculation" "Hail the queen!" "Ho do I look like Dakota?" over and over and over again.

Nope. Do not miss.

Other than the dream dress scenario other anon mentioned, it's not so much shitty as people laughing at you if you botch the modification job and then try to sell on a damaged dress for what you paid for it. Modifications usually lower resale value because people are gambling on the quality of the mods.

On the other hand, particular indie brand releases sometimes don't hold their value secondhand anyway, so if it's not something coveted you might as well go ahead and do it.

General discussion/inquiry: What do you think about selling off accessories you get when you buy a set, but that you know you're never going to use?

For example sometimes I buy a dress and it comes with the headbow, but I never wear headbows, so I have an accumulation of them I'll never use. On the one hand, I know a lot of people say just keep them so you can sell it on as a set later, but what if you don't have any plans to sell the dress, at least for a very long time? Do you think generally that lone socks/headbows etc sell often enough to bother trying to sell them on their own?

It's almost funny you say that, because part of the reason I was unsure about it was because I feel I've seen it said on here many times that anons hate when people separate their matching accessories from the set.

I actually have some solid pieces as well that have matching accessories like a bolero or vest that I wanted to split, but in those cases I feel much less sure about whether I want to split them. On the one hand, they could match other pieces more easily, but on the other it's probably less likely that someone else has the other half of the set as would be the case for a print item. This is the one I use:
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/catherine/cl0009/

- There's a layer of thin hard tulle inside. It does deflate over the 2.5 years I've had it, but the chiffon alone now adds just enough lift to skirts so they don't look completely sad.
- it's not fatty-friendly, when my hips got up to over 105cm I had trouble wriggling into it. There is also a lining inside that's not as wide as most petticoats are.
- you cannot layer it for more poof. The second tier down is actually quite narrow, for lolita, if you want more poof you might as well use a different petti. This one is pretty much limited to flat poof wear alone.

Not that anon, but the original's not "bad" quality. It's....only a little underwhelming, especially when you're used to their older pieces with much higher quality. In general you can still count on the fabric being decent silky-feeling polyester, all seams and hems being sewn straight, and everything being nicely finished.

Soufflesong, which OP referenced, now that one has a rep for truly bad quality with dodgy fabric and not-straight sewing. Word has it they changed their name to Neverland to escape the negative reputation they gained with their Soufflesong releases.

Whether it's worth what the seller is asking for is a whole other question, though. Even at the original retail price, you're certainly paying a premium for the design rather than the quality, but on the other hand, if you commissioned someone to do a drawing for you, paid another company to print the fabric, and then commissioned a tailor to make it into a dress for you, the end results is usually going to be pretty pricey, possibly at a lower quality than JetJ's dress.

The retail price of the dress is 64 800 yen. I'd understand if the design of the print was completely original, but it's a compilation (albeit tasteful) of various paintings.

Agreeing with you.

Also not to sound like an edgelord, but I can't pretend to care about a stranger who died just because they were in the same hobby as me. I find it grating, and it looks like the people who are going out of their way to make it a topic just want to be told they're good people for "caring" and bringing up the topic. I can understand one message of sympathy, but going any further than that is cringey and tryhard.

I'm not trying to sound douchey or anything, but have you honestly never heard of people who are just interested in death? The subject of dead lolitas is extremely interesting to me, it has nothing to do with caring or wanting ass pats. Also, I don't really know why a person seeking that would start a thread about it on /cgl/ anonymously, wouldn't they be creating a memorial page on FB or something under their identity? this so much.

also; i am more emotionally affected by someone in the same hobby dying than i am by someone in the same hobby being an attention whore. i think it's superficial to dwell on drama or have threads where people debate the motives of lolitas they've never met, but a lot of people care about that even if i don't.

emotions are weird, and anonymity brings out all of them, however ridiculous they may seem.

This! I don't know why but I get so fascinated about people who wear Jfash and have died. I try to imagine what their last moments may have looked like, like that girl who fell off a parking garage roof while nude. I'm not interested in the gore or actual death / corpse aspect, nor do I find any joy in it. Just curiosity about how it feels to know you're about to die.
The Jfash adds another element too -- have I seen them post before? Do I follow them online? Did I know someone who knows them? Were they part of a comm? Where did their clothing go after they passed on? Most, if not all people who wear Jfashion are relatively young, so the rate of people dying in our community is a lot smaller than, say, Grandma's knitting club. The fact that most people are so young too means that their deaths are mostly completely unpredictable and oftentimes quite tragic or unique.

But I'm "white", and if my culture is the one who invented something, it is appropriative of them to take it and coopt it and use it to bring me down, by their logic. Racism is an -ism. Racism is not institutional, it is a personal belief that ANYONE can hold.

Well if its something like metas leopard print blazer and skirt i wouldnt separate it. I actually dont understand people who sell the D.walkure set separately.
I think i think its better to sell the bolero or vest together if its from the same series unless you have a buyer for both.

But if its a standard solid wine bolero to match a solid wine dress or something, as long as you dont mind it being sold separately. I think the usual concern is that they wont both sell separately and you'll get stuck with one half in your situation.

I think anons dont want to separate accessories from the set if it took them 2 year to gather the dress, socks and headbow only to see it split apart or they figure 1 buyer for all so its one trip to the post office/ one person to chase down for the money/ one person to deal with harassing you about it not arriving on time.

It's cool you don't get it, but I don't see why you're projecting all these assumptions, like anyone who is interested is trying to be deep or come off a sweet, caring person. And saying there's no need for a topic, just because you don't get it? I hate to say it, but you're being kind of full of yourself. It was ill-defined was it's issue. It was mostly how you do your makeup vs lolita being about clothing and the silhouette and a lot of strict fashion rules.

What happened is a lot of girls started toning down their makeup since a sort of sweet, somewhat natural look is popular in Japan right now. Gyaru always took inspiration from a lot of pop culture and American culture as well, and it ended up engulfing a lot of tumblr, hipster styles. Look up neo-gyaru and you'll see how some of it is almost impossible to tell from a tumblr post. I think it'll come back once people get sick of this hipster influence.

I put a snipe bid in with FJ since I was gonna be asleep when the auction ended. current bid was 4100, decided to put in a max bid of 5000.
>Sorry, your sniper bid failed.

auction ended at 4100. how come my bid didn't go through? it can't be that my max bid was too low, because normally it would've bid that amount and the other person's max that was higher than mine would've been bidded, rather than end at 4100. auction didn't end early either, and my bid was definitely a full increment.

I'm loving this side of her that's starting to show through, she actually reminds me of one of my friends. It seems like now that she's come so far in her career, no fucks are given.
I wonder if she's really been like this all along? It could be entirely possible that the side she shows Japanese lolitas versus Western lolitas has been quite different simply due to the lack of interaction, aside from short videos and interviews that are translated by somebody else.
I know she's said before on a small webshow she helped to host, (this was a year or two before the Japan Lolita Association and her more increased presence in the West) that she was very shy and had a hard time doing things like TV shows so she tended to avoid them.

lord, this is the second time in the past week i've seen an obvious noob WTB in a sales group asking for dresses that fit X standard size.

like okay fine, simple enough mistake to make, if you came into lolita from regular fashion, how would you know? that said, when people come into sales groups asking things like "WTB dress that will fit a S! Looking for a dress my size is 2L!" that shows me you've done NO research at all. you don't even have to do that much research - a quick google search and reading of one of the many lolita 101 guides out there will tell you that you need to know your measurements. I also assumed there was standard sizing, but, once I got to looking around, one of the first things I learned when reading up on how2bRori was that you need to know your measurements.

No, that's not how it works at all.
If it were, those wouldn't be things:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_supremacy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism_in_the_Arab_world

Basically anyone can hold racist opinions, but in general the minority race will experience more racism and discrimination because people are assholes. White people most definitely can face racism. In America, and "white" countries not so much, but it certainly happens and it is very wrong to discredit something just because you have not experienced it.

I'm white and when travelling in China I had at least 8 people come up to me and start touching my hair and asking how I made it look like that. A man tried to buy me, and I got chased around and people trying to scam me because it was assumed that because I was white, I was gullible and had a shitton of money.
I believe that in America if I was black, those would be seen as racist. If Michelle Obama can call it a racist microagression for someone to ask her for help reaching a high shelf in a grocery store, I can call it racist for people to actually be treating me differently because of my race.

Also I know were suppose to trace the pattern pieces onto new sheets since they all overlap, but how do I tell which pattern piece is which?

Some items have kanji that says there is no life size (like the bloomers) meaning it is not in the pattern pack.
And you tell which it which by looking for the dots dashes triangles that run along the lines. all your pattern pieces should have the same symbol, like reading any map.
If you have a smart phone get google's translate, you can take picture of text, highlight the kanji an at least get a rough translation. Like "rubber tape" is elastic

>only 5 or so minutes left
I'd understand if it was like a few hours but you couldn't stay up 5 minutes for an auction? I mean it sucks your bid didn't go through but guess you really didn't want that item that badly tbh.

I'm assuming you used fromjapan and their snipe bids. I'm just quoting here from their website:
If you choose sniper bid, then your bid is actually placed between 5 and 10 minutes before the end of the auction and is not made instantly.

After placing a sniper bid there can be a few reasons why this might not get made:
*Another bidder has increased their maximum bid above your maximum.
*The seller ends the auction early.
*The seller does not allow sales to proxy shopping services.

I think on the confirmation page right when you're doing the sniper bid there's a note about not being able to do it if the auction has less than 5 minutes or so. I'm not going to go through the trouble of making a screenshot of that for you though, you should get the gist of why it didn't work by now.

>> No.8369313

>>8369298
sorry if this sounds stupid but I'm not sure I understand what you're asking me by "you couldn't stay up 5 minutes"...like, it ended in the middle of the night when I was asleep? It was "a few hours". Definitely wasn't staying up 8 hours just to attempt to win the item. I guess you're right in that I didn't *really* want the item - if it was something I loved and needed I would probably use a ss like chibi tenshi instead of FJ. also sorry if this sounds defensive, I don't mean it to be

anyways whatever, that's fine, I'll go back and look myself, but it seemed peculiar to me I guess because I the last few times I would bid manually and people were like "lol wtf u didn't u do sniper u stupid baka xD thats why u lost" but I was unaware that sellers on yja sometimes did not accept snipe bids.

>> No.8369319

>>8369298
sorry I forgot to add: when I said "the snipe bid didn't even go through and there was only 5 or so minutes left." I didn't mean that there was only 5 minutes left in the auction, I meant that the snipe bid was entered at 5 minutes (like you quoted from FJ's site, that's when they're entered) and I was wondering if it was possible for the seller to cancel the bid (like the post I was replying to offered as a suggestion) in that short amount of time/that suggestion was odd to me because of the short amount of time + how immediate it was. At this point now I understand it was immediate because the seller didn't accept snipe bidding so it automatically just cancelled it out or whatever.

>automatic extension

On most yja auctions if a bid is placed in the last 5-10 minutes, the ending time is automatically extended another 5-10 minutes. This is to actively discourage last-second snipe bidders, it gives everybody in the auction additional 5-10 minutes to react to your bid by increasing their own bid, or in your case, maybe the seller saw your bid come in, saw the name and recognised it and cancelled the bid manually in those extra 5-10 minutes.

This is my first reply to you, btw. I can't say for sure whether seller cancelled your bid is what happened, but it does sound the most plausible.

I'd honestly do nothing or just politely PM her about it. Seems like she might've been a lone lolita and not much of a seller.

>mfw I am a lone lolita and never sell my stuff
>have 0 feedback on any lolita site

I think you're talking about Kammie/mintymix...she's really only active on Instagram these days, her username there is kammiepomeranian.

Shes been to meet ups, i trusted her because i easily found her tumblr, and she later sent me proof photos via tumblr.

I think ill just do nothing.
You dont have any buyer feedback? I only sold a few items but ive at least provided my egl comm sales and ebay with more then enough buyer feedback.

>Fairy Angel
Isn't that a completely different site? Fairy Angel also has otome and it has less lolita clothes coming than girly cute used to have. I believe Fairy Angel hasn't a had a new IW item for a month now, for example.

I agree. After years seeing great packs and finally being able to afford one when they released it last year, I was a bit disappointed. I think I'll try for a winter season pack this year and see if I have better luck.
