Dolly kei, like most other harajuku centric styles, will continue to exist but really become known to outsiders in the midst or the aftermath of the trend boom. Dolly kei already had its boom, and in order to become more popular, will need to latch onto another fashion to become more prevalent again. There are people wearing it, but its a much smaller degree than when people outside Japan first started hearing about it.

Maybe I am wrong, but isn't natural kei more like the appearance of Anne in Anne of Green Gables or LIttle House on the Prairie? True Natural kei is actually a style that was around before mori girl.
Natural fabrics, muted colors, relaxed fit, but not ott like mori girl can be.
This style is still popular and is usually worn by older women in Japan.
I'm pretty sure this is where Choco got inspiration to start the Mori style.
Magazines like Naturella and NuComfie are excellent natural kei resources.

So what styles do people here already dress in, and what styles do they want to get into?

At the moment I mostly dress in non-trendy normalfag clothing and wear gothic/classic/oldschool lolita a few times a month. I used to be a goth and also wear a lot of raver shit, but there's no neons and not much black left in my wardrobe nowadays. I'm looking into other jfashions because I love lolita, but I really can't wear it all the time and I want an everyday style that looks cute.

There's a lot of other jfashions I like, but the two I'm actively trying to get into are cult party kei and nanchatte seifuku. CPK-appropriate stuff is really easy to thrift (I'm kind of tempted to get into mori for the same reason, since I like the aesthetic and there's a lot of suitable stuff in thrift shops near me, but although I like it I don't love it enough to make it a priority). Plus, a lot of non-thriftable items popular in the style, like RHS and peignors, are easy to mix with lolita. Nanchatte seifuku stuff like pleated tartan skirts, sweaters and cardigans would mix well with my normalfag wardrobe and is easy to wear casually.

I like mori and it's easy to thrift appropriate stuff, but I don't love the style enough to make getting into it a priority, especially since it so easy to just look like a bag lady in it. I also like fairy kei a lot but I look shit in pastels and don't think I'd feel comfortable in something so cutesy.

I'm so tempted to get into fairy kei but I haven't mustered up the courage/willingness to drop dollar on it, since my normalfag clothing contains no pastels and my lolita clothing contains no sweet or OTT sweet, so even to get one fairy kei outfit to try out the style and see if I liked it from me, I'd have to spend a lot of money buying everything from scratch. Depends where you live. I live in the UK and my parcels using Bodyline's free shipping usually take 2-3 weeks - longest I had took a month, but my last parcel only took 9 days.

Many of their blouses are shit or mediocre but not all. L015 is good, for example. A lot of their lolita skirt designs are fugly but some (like l325) are great. They have a lot of nice JSKs and OPs and also some decent wigs - ask in the Bodyline thread about anything you're thinking of purchasing and anons will be able to tell you the quality.

I'm unfortunately still not close to getting my first outfit yet, I've been spending some time researching brands and looking up coords for inspiration, as well as checking the UK sales group and LM frequently. Not really. It can be similar, but roma has more vintage inspiration, like 50. or 60. As much as confusing it can be, you can easily see difference if you compare eg. Liz Lisa (himekaji) and Fint or Amavel (not strictly roma, but work well with proper make up and hair).

Himekaji/roma with no make up? There's no name for this and there's no rule you have to wear "a crap ton of makeup" + lenses on daily basics, actualy, make up in those styles isn't really that thick - just make sure you have clean looking face, subtle eyemakeup (eyeshadow, eyeliner, maybe delicate lashes, if your aren't best), blush and lipgloss should be enough.

Two problems, /cgl/.

Firstly, I want to get into fairy kei, but I also hate or am indifferent to all the 80s nostalgia stuff that's so popular in the style (Care Bears, gen. 1 My Little Pony, etc). Is it still even truly fairy kei without those elements, or is it fine to do fairy kei using other themes, like space/stars, despite not liking the 80s stuff?

Secondly, not specific to any actual jfashion but sort of relevant, I've come to the realisation that, even though it's 2tumblr5me, I actually really like dark blue galaxy print stuff and I want a galaxy sweater. I genuinely like the way they look and I want to buy one, but am I going to look like a walking hipster tumblr trend? Is there a way to reduce that effect, like not wearing it with leggings or not buying a hideously oversized one?

I've been trying to shift into otome now I look older.
I like really loud FRUITs-y sorts of clothing and Lolita so I want to keep wearing something interesting, but recently when I try to wear otome I just look like a boring office worker at most.

Unless you are willing to wear a binder daily, just acknowledge the way your body is and don't try to limit yourself for your bodyshape? At most, wear more sporty bras that still offer support to your breasts while not helping making them more prominent. You can wear blouses and such that are more loose to help "hide" your large chest.
If you don't try, you'll never know if it'll suit you or not. We don't know how your body is so your best bet is to lookup the fashions you are interested in and try to find girls wearing it that have a fuller figure. I honestly don't see a reason why would someone with larger breasts not suit Soft Sister and Larme, as long as you wear clothes that fit your shape and your breasts aren't trying to break free from the clothing. Get pieces custom tailored if you have to, as well.

How about no? Post your height and weight and measurements. Wearing sports bras and styling might help, but you're not going to achieve that kawaii waif look without seriously losing weight. Look at plus-size Japanese fashion if you just want kawaii pastel clothes. Remember, you can be well-dressed and fat, but if you're not 100% on point styled and put together and photographed, all people are going to see is fat.
