Gender roles and gender/sex have always been linked, even in their precious multi-gender cultures. In todays society where being a woman simply means that you present with some of the sex characteristics, people can do anything they want within the female and male genders. This. Tumblr has a pretty distinct way of drawing things, or incorporates certain things into their features like the ruddy nose, cheeks, line quality of their art, noodle arms, etc.
When I was in art school, a lot of teachers would use "tumblr" in critiques regarding artsyle, and it was something a lot of the students needed to hear. There was a fiasco one year where a bunch of tumblrinas graduated, and then all applied to the same companies and art directors with their copy paste art styles and portfolios. Needless to say the head of the illustration department got a lot of irritated emails from some big names, and the next year they started to lecture all of the students on why tumblr art is a bad thing.

I've never done the colored nose/cheek things, but I follow a lot of cartoonists and sometimes try to incorporate parts of their style (arms, legs, etc) into my own. Incorporating other's styles into your own is pretty common for newer artists, it helps them get a handle on how they want to/are most successful in drawing, but once you start to develop more usually, you create a more unique style. Obviously cartoony styles will have similar elements, but you should always be able to tell one from another just by looking. That's the thing with a lot of tumblr art, most of it looks similar(and badly done) because most of the artists haven't really developed their own style and are just copying others either from lack of creativity or sheer desire for popularity. It's not even really so much that gender is a spectrum, it's just that people don't fall into hard-fast gender roles/expectations. It is actually pretty common for men and women to fall closely into gender roles same with it being even more common for transmen and women to fall into the gender roles which they're transitioning towards. There is nothing wrong with learning how to draw by copying from artists you like. Everyone does it. Eventually you grow, and look at art, and realize what you like from those artists. How they do their linework, how they draw noses, the colors they use, etc. You start to build up a sort of "kit" for yourself, and eventually your own style grows from that.

Just keep practicing and drawing and eventually you'll get there. Seeing that your art is lacking means that your eyesight, and how you perceive your art is currently ahead of your technical skills. Eventually, those skills will catch up, and you'll be satisfied for a while before you see more problems. That sort of process is how you grow as an artist. You'll be fine anon.

To be fair, the term "trigger" is actually used by Psychiatrist, Psychologists, Therapists, anyone in that line of work.
Triggers work when you experience a horrible tragedy that stays with you forever, and one specific thing will set it off. One of the largest aspects of 'tumblr style art' is the whole blind leading the blind fiasco. Most of the tumblr artist population consists of teens, young adults and more teens.(13~25) which is usually when developing artists first start out and exposed to this whole visual/digital/fandom art thing through social media, in this case, tumblr. Shit you can google up to be a better fine tuned artist. Instead tumblr draws cutesy animu, guro special snowflake with their paint tool sai because Photoshop is too 'complicated' etc etc. aspiring tumblr artists look up to amazing tumblr artists who are equally shit, and well, you know how it goes. But if they stayed inside tumblr it would be fine, have fun with your hobbies, no big deal.
