So seagulls, I'm curious... Why are you here on /cgl/? For help? Community? Inspiration? The ever-juicy drama?

I like helping other girls.
I'm a cosplayer who hasn't really been happy with the community for several years now and may move to lolita due to encouragement from a friend in lolita.

I'm on /cgl/ because /fa/ is cancer riddled with thirsty, aggressive fuccbois.

Lolita, but used to dabble in cosplay.
>How did you find out about /cgl/?
I was posted to an ita thread, and got buttmad about it. Then I learned to take the (somewhat) harsh... critique.
>Why are you on /cgl/?
I stayed to improve my co-ords. I've learned so much since lurking and I've really improved. I can't deny that I like reading the drama. I also like being able to say shit on here that I don't have another place to say it.

It was never accurate.

/fit/ was always our most desirable board and many of us would gladly dump our beta boyfriends if /fit/ showed interest in us. Unfortunately, it seems like /fit/ stopped caring about us, so we're the ones who got dumped.

There's never been particular interest on /cgl/ in the loser men of /fa/. Their board representative (Todd, a 4/10 ching chong face-wise) also turned out to be a rapist who cheated on Piplup, the queen of /cgl/.

The 2nd most attractive board after /fit/ is /sp/.

Cosplayer.

>How did you find out about /cgl/?
I don't really remember to be honest. I just remember starting to lurk in 2010 then posting in 2011.

>Why are you on /cgl/?
To give help if I can, and to ask for help when I need it. I also like /cgl/ for critique, since seagulls tend to be honest and give good advice on how to improve (if you're not an asshole about it). I used to read in on the drama sometimes back when it was the thing to do, but it wasn't something I lived for, so meh. Nowadays I just lurk and only post if I feel like I actually have something to say. I think what I miss most about old /cgl/ was how vibrant and social it was. It kinda feels empty these days.

>How did you find out about /cgl/?
A few years ago someone in my cosplay comm mentioned cgl drama, so I found my country's thread and had a good time. From there I started going on some of the other boards like /vg/ and /diy/.

>Why are you on /cgl/?
I was mostly here for the more 'focused' threads like taobao, wigs, series generals and coord advice that don't really exist on other forums. But I've spilled over into more of the discussion and experiences threads recently.

>Why are you on /cgl/?
I like helping other people and Coscom has gone from shitty to absolute shit. I can't handle reading the shitty advice some people [usually with no experience] over there give to others. I'd much rather give and receive help over here where people are beyond the babby-level questions of "Why can't I use quilting cotton? It's the right color!" "Can I buy a Party City Wig?" "Can I use sharpie for eyeliner and tattoos?" and the like. Plus there are a variety of threads that are connected to my interests like makeup, skincare, Aliexpress, Taobao, and Ebay.

i'd been using 4chan for a long time before it was created and i browsed it a lot for about a month or two after it was first created and announced. haven't used it much since because i felt like it got too drama heavy at the time

>Why are you on /cgl/?

i check back on /cgl/ occasionally because one of my internet bffs is big into cosplay and lolita and it always seems so fun when she's talking about it and sharing photos. i like looking at pretty outfits and cosplays and even though i'm pretty ancient at this point (i'm 26) i'd still like to try cosplay or lolita at some point.

i never really got into either cosplay or lolita in the first place, despite interest, because i'm pretty much the opposite of attractive and i felt like i'd just be judged and made fun of. as i've gotten older, though, i feel more like i don't care as much. i just want to get to dress up silly or pretty or whatever and be involved with people who like cosplay and lolita and just want to have fun with it. i want to learn new skills in creating cosplays and put work into it and stuff and chat with people about the craft.

Been on the internet for a long time. You just stumble upon stuff in your travels, that's how I found cgl

>Why are you on /cgl/?
Because, imo, the lolita community is somewhat fake. I'm sure there are girls out there who have found long term friends in the community but that's rare. I guess I'm just at an age where I don't want superficial friendships with a group of girls ageing between 16-25. I want friends that I'm close with, who I can vent to or discuss serious subjects with, not just have a friendship based on lolita but more a friendship that involves lolita. Cgl is a place I can come to get real feed back, even though sometimes its full of trolls, there is still a group of people here who actually give a shit about there hobby that are willing to help. It's a good place to get coord, cosplay, make-up, hair and skin and sometimes feels advice, which is more than I get from meets.

I knew of 4chan but only learned of big bad /cgl/ through my comm shortly after joining. Some friends and I had been posted in ita threads so I finally went to check it out myself.
>Why are you on /cgl/?
Brutal honesty and the nice people. When I got posted, I expected to end up in tears. Instead I found myself just reading and nodding, like "fuck, you're right... Okay, gonna try that instead. And that. Ok...". Learned from ita threads and asked for advice on others. Now I learn from nitpick threads and give advice on others.

Also, you nice folks, who tell fuzzy stories and find links for other cosplayers, tell depressed anons it will get better and offer a throwaway email for a chat, and help others find dream dresses, without trips to credit you, being decent for the sake of being decent: love you guys. I feel it stands out even more in an anon environment where it's just as easy to be a dick instead without repercussions.

Just because someone uses a website doesn't mean that they share the opinions of people on that website. YOU of all people should understand that using 4chan doesn't make you a horrible person. Im sure if you went to tumblr and announced "I go on 4chan", you will get an ask box full of hate because everyone thinks that 4chan is horrible. The site is what you make of it.

I don't think reddit is an imageboard, just a popular website with a large user base. That'd be like banning YouTube or links to news articles. Reddit itself is just links to other websites.

>inb4 le bacon narwhal maymay
The reddit community proper is cancer but you have many subreddits that don't deal with that shit and post quality content. Hell, you even have a 4chan subreddit where people post le funny greentexts xDD
It's another shit website on the Internet with a few good niche groups, just like 4chan
Forcing this exclusivity and being buttmad about someone visiting other websites on the Internet other than your secret assburger club while pretending to be better than anyone (as long as you have /r9k/, /pol/ and /lgbt/ that will not be possible) literally makes you sound like a 14yo autistic who has nothing better in life to do than yell at people on the Internet.

Cosplayer, probably been on here for too long at least since 08. It was the natural step from coscom because there wasn't really many cosplay communities. Yeah it has its downsides but whatever. I like getting the critique and I've meet some pretty cool people on here. I like the related threads, I like seeing what people make and how they can help people make new things. I have known about 4chan for a long time and when I started going to cons my friend would always talk about 'checking cgl' to see if our panels were talked about or our cosplays were posted so I started checking it out and learned a lot from reading tutorial threads and such.

>Why are you on cgl?
To be honest, I'm bored. I don't live close to a lolita community and I have a horrible online shopping habit (thanks, lolita). So I come on here to kill time, help others, talk about dresses (try to preoccupy myself from spending all my money online).

I helped to start the Ashley drama. I was one of the people that posted her poop broach and kept the threads alive with updates (I even wrote the beginnings of the Dramatica before it went to shit). That was the shining medal of my /cgl/ career.

Then I got bored of drama in general (to the point where Staminarose seemed boring) and got more into lolita. Then otome. Then mori. I mostly browse hair/skin/beauty threads now, post the occasional feels, and go through shopping threads to add kawaii stuff to my wishlist.

I hide threads like it's my job.

You'll get a response, just be patient.
Use the catalog or be forever shunned.
Otherwise post in the specified threads. Think before starting a new thread, because it could be around for awhile.
And don't start threads with "male here..." if you want a serious response.

But you seem alright. You'll be fine as long as you remember what board you're on. Be patient.

I've been on 4chan forever but didn't venture far out of my few boards until a friend linked me to /cgl/ in 2012. Spent all night looking at a cool thread of people just dumping cosplays.

Nowadays I'm just watching what comes up. When I need inspiration I look around.
Earlier, it was to look at cool costumes and then gain tips. My cosplay skills have improved immensely under the pressure of knowing that seagulls are always watching. Occasionally I'll selfpost and a bunch of anons will say they recognized me from some convention and thought my costume was so cool, and it gives me the warm fuzzy feelings.
Met a lot of cool people. Would like to continue meeting more people.

Yeah, these are great ideas and all, but I'm a girl. The issue is that there are very strong differences between being a girl and being a CUTE girl.

Imagine I, who has little to no experience with even basic fashion, buying a bunch of cheap cutesy shit off the internet. I stuff my overweight, unwashed body into it and shove selfies into a thread on /cgl/. Assuming that neither of you are summerfagging, what do you suppose would happen to me? Just the fact that you guys thought I was a man or a tranny is enough to show what kind of comments I'd get. At the very least I'm not sitting here complaining about how /cgl/ is fat shaming me and not being a bright, sparkly hugbox made of fatty-chan hopes and dreams.

Don't worry, if you lower your standards from 8-10/10 males to just 6-7/10 males you can still get an almost tolerable boyfriend, even if you weigh four times as much as him.

Which is really wonderful news, but I'm not looking for a boyfriend, I'm looking to look cute. There isn't a single retard on this board who exists that believes that anyone with a man must be automatically adorable perf rori des, or at least I hope.

Perhaps in the future the apocalypse will happen during a gigantic /cgl/ meet and my boyfriendo will become the iron-fisted brolita emperor of seagulls. The likeness of I, as his queen, will become like that of venus for lolitas. Our only hope of salvation is a lone heroine who travels the ravish lands, doing whatever it takes to survive and teaching the misguided people that armpit hair and going wigless just ain't cute.

Where are you pulling out of your ass that I want a bf and am somehow complaining that I'm not looking cute instead of just accepting it? Actually, I'm not even the one that started all this. The people that told me to magically solve all my problems by looking for a chubby chaser and gold digging my way into burando are. The only reason I'm even responding is because I can't allow myself to believe that someone on /cgl/ actually has beef with someone who says "I'm not good-looking, so no lolita for me!".

Holy shit, this is actually saying a lot when you think about it. When you have so much of a problem with entitled legbeards that your kneejerk reaction to someone saying "I'm ugly, unfortunately." is assuming that they're supreme assmad, you must have to deal with a lot of shit. I'm actually feeling a little sorry for /cgl/ right now. They have a few good points, but it's overshadowed by their need to be the biggest victims and to demand things like respect solely on their innate qualities. The concept of working for respect is totally lost on them.

Keep convincing yourself of that while both movements are at each other's throats and slowly kill any real progress in the real world.

Feminists keep trying to convince people fighting for equal rights for men that they're actually just feminists, and then spin the entire argument to center right the fuck back on them. The MRA movement started out with good intentions by shining light on these issues (e.g. divorce courts, lack of support for men's social issues, etc.) but the movement won't reel in people who think the friendzone is srs bzns and an assault against men's rights.

Both need to calm the fuck down.

If you actually read my comment, I was alluding to the fact that they're both making unrealistic assumptions about eachother. There is extremism in both movements. MRA's just happen to be slightly more out of touch with reality, IMO. This is partially due to the fact that feminism has had a chance to mature over several decades and move to a more progressive worldview. MRA is still young and most of it's advocates haven't moved past batshit crazy form yet. Hence why I'm sick of hearing the foreveralone bullshit on here where some idiot is all
>BAWW I'M ALONE

Yeah, because all women want is a good fucking, am I right? Because it's not just as degrading to be deprived of relationships because all men want from you is sex? It's a very, very selfish and shortsighted worldview. Not to mention harmful for anyone who genuinely thinks this way. You literally see examples of this on /cgl/ every day - some average 6/10 cunt posts her picture? Gets at least 2 replies saying "oh my god ur so cute" - triple that amount if she's a tripfag in a shitty cosplay. Some guy posts his picture? He'd be lucky if he gets a second of attention from anyone, much less a reply, and if he gets one it's usually negative. You have to be a god walking among humans like ATIWAB or Enzo to get ~3 compliments from /cgl/ and even that is hilariously little compared to how much the average girl gets when she fishes for attention.

It's even worse when it comes to cosplay suggestion threads. Ironically enough, it's often the ugliest beta male - but who happens to dress like an effeminate retard - who gets most replies / suggestions back at him.

As a rape survivor myself, I find them extremely problematic.

>Cosplayer, Lolita, or Both?
Cosplayer, I'm interested in ouji but not enough to drop money on it.
>How did you find out about /cgl/?
/cgl/ was the Place We Did Not Go when I was younger, because they were all mean bitchy drama-y whores. I ended up here when coscom basically died and I needed makeup advice.
>Why are you on /cgl/?
I stuck around for a few months the first time for the makeup general and the lolita drama, then saw that the weight loss advice was batshit crazy so I left. I came back again just recently because my highschool flirtation with an ED is much further behind me and because I'm probably the best cosplayer in my immediate group of friends but I still feel like I have a long way to go. Weight loss advice is much less batshit this time, and I didn't get nearly as crucified as I expected to be for my bigass nose, so I'm probably sticking around.

Cosplayer, own a couple of lolita dresses and wear otome everyday, but I don't consider myself a lolita
>How did you find out about /cgl/?
When I first came into 4chan I was interested in cosplay, so this was the first place I came to.
>Why are you on /cgl/?
Everyone is pretty helpful for small questions I'd not like to ask anywhere else. I also learn a lot of new techniques and find new pretty pictures to my collection. I also like to read the stories (happy, cringe, bad, everything)

Both, but mainly cosplay
>>How did you find out about /cgl/?
I think I stumbled upon some iteration of cosfu a million years ago and found this place through my desire for more cringe-worthy cosplayers.
>>Why are you on /cgl/?
Help threads for cosplay because some of you have really sound advice, lurking lolita drama when bored, cringe threads for a laugh. And being here so long has made me both very nitpicky about my cosplay and coords and also able to take harsh criticism, laugh about it, and go improve.

Cosplayer, started early 2011 with shitty bought or borrowed stuff and started making my own costumes last year.

>How did you find out about /cgl/?
One really boring day when there was nothing going on on my main board either I just started browsing other boards and found /cgl/.

>Why are you on /cgl/?
I don't know. I like looking at other people's cosplays and occasionally lurking in lolita threads. Also cringe threads I guess.

I've always wanted to cosplay, but I have a lot of respect for character designs and the artistry that you guys put into crafting your costumes and don't want to fuck that up with my shitty body.

I do enjoy lurking though, you guys are very talented.

Like Tiferet or Gwen, I'm way too old (and too tall) to actually wear lolita without looking creepy and delusional. Unlike them, however, I know and accept it. But I gleefully steal the bits of it I *can* get away with, and hang out here strictly for the ita/cringe/nitpick threads, and the drama, and sometimes just to look at pretty dresses, and admire pics of girls who can wear them well. I also love the mori threads when they happen.

I like to sew, and occasionally I read the cosplay help threads to pick up tips and inspiration, but generally I hide all the con/cosplay threads.

I got here after someone whined about cgl on lolita_secrets, and I had to see what this horrible board was all about.

If you're old enough to have a beer legally you're too old for Lolita.

So most of these girls are too old for this shit.

Idk why they wait until 25 to give up the act

Probably because they look at jnig and think she looks ridic at 25 in cosplay and wrinkles w/ gravity taking over the once perky form

And realize it does not look cute on them anymore and no amount of MAC slapped on their wrinkled faces will fix it

Also, can you please take another picture of yourself, preferably wearing a fedora (or any hat you have at home) and hold a paper saying the current time but with a slightly future date (e.g. November 1+ 2014)? And "for BodyBuilding.com" underneath, that would be perfect.

You'd have my honest gratitude if you did that. It's my birthday so please do.

Don't remember. Probably because I heard it was "the mean bully site :( :(" and there was some kind of drama so I checked it.

>Why are you on /cgl/?

To keep up the lolita community and to learn how to make my outfits better. /cgl/ has taught me so much about coording and make-up and saved me from screwing up stuff up so many times.
