Overall my weekend was good aside from my bus breaking down 10 minutes from Garnett station's Greyhound stop. Leaking coolant, multiple broken belts and the driver telling us "Not to panic, we'll have another bus sent to get you in 30 minutes." It took two hours and even then they couldn't let us off since we were on the highway so we they had to drive the bus to the next exit. My arrival time was supposed to be 10:30pm and at the hotel by 11:30pm. I didn't get to the hotel until after 2am.

here's a pic from the tea party, our table was hilarious. the tea was Stash brand bags from Target and we couldn't get hot water for the life of us so we spent the time talking shit, 10/10 best tea party yet. Two of our girls won the raffle and got dress sets, it was awesome.

On the tea party itself, it was very well attended. Pretty much everyone wore Baby or AatP, though I know one girl wore AP and another wore Infanta so idk, let them live in shame. We had time to talk to the designer and managers so it was cool, and also they had some neat photo areas. They raffled off stationary, dress sets and some accessories, and it was quite a lot. The girl who won best dressed was very lovely, though apparently the theme was 'southern belle'? I honestly didn't understand that from the ticket but whatever. The food was ok, though the desserts were all super heavy. My biggets issue was the goddamn tea being bags, and us never getting another round of hot water until someone got up and grabbed some. There wasn't even enough bags for another round, but Andrea assured us that that 'they were good for more then one cup'. I got up and got more of those as well.

We all got key necklaces as our gift, in either silver or gold. All in all it was a nice time, though I think most of that was from the quality of the conversation at my table.

Oh god, I'm glad I'm not the only one who was annoyed by the actual tea. Those bags were not good for another fucking steep, I don't know what was going on with that.

Like you though, I enjoyed the socialization aspect with both the designers and my table. But I probably wouldn't attend another brand tea at a con in the future. I could have taken my $75 dollars and purchased some things from the outlet sale page, which I'm pretty sure is the product that was raffled off.

I honestly did have a good time though with the girls at my table, but I also had a similarly good time at the J-fashion social, and that was free.

I agree it was stuff they couldn't sell, but still nice of them to raffle so much stuff. The chance at winning was pretty cool. I guess if I knew my friends had tickets I would go, although like you I'm pretty meh.

I'm pretty sure they weren't allowed to use outside hotel food since it was an official con event- that would explain the decent food and shitty tea. If I go to another I'll know to bring my own kettle, pot and tea because It was absolutely fucking stupid I couldn't get more then two cups of hot water.

Another tea party attendee here. I was particularly impressed with how well dressed everyone was and how they had the designer and Rin to go table-to-table to get to know guests. It was more personal than a free for all and the post cards that they gave us to have them sign after pictures was cute. I also loved the sandwiches, but the deserts were so heavy and just...a bit too rich.
With that being said, next year they could definitely have pre-steeped actual tea pots.
I feel like it was worth the price just because it helped pay for btssb to come. Thier contact and translator did a phenomenal job and the booth sold very well from the looks of it!

I was at the tea as well. I loved my table, and like everyone has said the designer and Rin were super nice. I loved that they gave everyone a post card that they signed later. But honestly, the tea party was not worth $75. Everyone got maybe 2 tea bags, and some tiny tea sandwiches and scones and lemon bars/brownies. It wasn't great. Andrea really dropped the ball on a lot of stuff. She didn't tell anyone about the theme and then had the NERVE to act like we all should have brought gifts for the Baby people when she never said shit about it. It was really embarrassing for those of us who didn't bring anything. It was just yet another thing she messed up for the rest of us. I was also a model for the baby fashion show and she kept disappearing and I heard she was terrible to the indie designers and their models.

OH AND THE FASHION SHOW OH MY GOD DID YOU GUYS SEE THAT HORROR SHOW?? I don't even know the designer's name but there was one woman who's "brand" was such garbage it hurt to look at it. Those poor models will probably never recover from the hideous trauma. When she came backstage I thought someone let a homeless person in. Seriously if anyone has pictures let me see. I don't know how Andrea thought it would be okay to let her into the fashion show it was such an embarrassment.

Other than that though the fashion show was great. Everyone from baby really helped us all get ready, stay calm, and know what we needed to do.

I was with an indie that chose not to use the hair and makeup people the fashion show provided. We thought it would be easier and faster if not everyone was rushing for face and hair. WELL, because we didn't use the people, Andrea said we couldn't stay in the dressing room. She made us go to the bathroom down the hall and do everything. I am good friends with some of the girls on staff and they said that all of them begged Andrea to not let that girl in the show but in the end she let her walk because she "didn't want to cause drama". Are you kidding?? Letting her walk caused a shit ton of drama and no one would have even known if she didn't let her in the show. People around me were laughing when she came out on stage.
Also I saw that Andrea was sitting out in the audience during the show. I heard that one of the Baby models barely made it on stage in time. She should have been back there helping them. Apparently right after the show she went to lunch with "some girlfriends teehee" instead of staying to help Baby break down and put everything away. I know for a fact that some of the Baby staff is less than thrilled with her involvement.

I would like to help out next year but only if they pick a different director who is willing to work just as hard as everyone else on staff. Being a director doesn't mean you just get to delegate work and then sit back and enjoy the show. It means getting your hands dirty and helping every step of the way. Remember when I was posting about my ride in the past thread? (And this one a bit)

Well. Ends ups my ride sort of kinda didn't abandon me but pulled a different shitty move. Texted me saying BF was "soooo sick" and she had to take him back to an ER 8 hours away. She texted me that Sunday morning, and only because I texted her asking where to meet to get my luggage in the car. She basically told me to get a new ride on FB and asked if there was anything she could do to help, when I got my bill for the bus I asked her to chip in since I wasn't expecting to shell out an obscene amount of money to get home and she left without telling me. Told me she doesn't "owe me anything" and that I was being demanding, etc.

Found out she never left Atlanta. She sent all those texts pretending to have left Atlanta.
>Never left Atlanta
>Made me believe she abandoned me in another state
>I had to take a 16 hour bus ride and shell out waaaaay too much money to get home

So something tells me she didn't know the tea party was a ticketed event, and upon realizing, planned on ditching me to do other stuff/go home early, then decided to stay but wanted to keep up the act? We weren't the closest of friends or anything, but I assumed that at the very least we were friendly or "buddies".
The texts where she started getting hostile were all after she "left" the con. Indie model here. Dont forget that the two times she DID show up, it was to bitch out the staffers who were working there butts off to try and fix the stupid broken schedule she made up for them, or to harass the indie designers for doing makeup in the designated area. She literally pushed one indie designer out of the way and demanded that they wait to get pictures of their models because she "didn't plan for them to get pictures". WTF? She clearly was on a power trip even though she had no idea what was going on.

I didn't realize it until later, but Andrea was so busy talking to someone that she made all of us models super late for our rehearsal and we barely got to practice before the next group came in to do a sound check. She started off with a HUGE attitude sighing as soon as she picked up the phone, calling me rude, saying she owed me nothing (she just kept saying that) and how unreasonable - I'm - being. I stayed calm though, knowing that as soon as I got off the phone I could talk to my mom/friends about it. I managed to get her to agree to paying half, telling her in detail the hell I went through to get back, etc. I let her know that even with half it doesn't cover the difference between what I was going to give her for gas and the bus fare, but if that's as much as she's willing to help, let it be. I knew she wasn't going to try and help me in any significant fashion, but at least I managed to get through to her. Now I'm just waiting for the money to be sent... Let's talk about the circle jerk that was the fucking love live and idol master panels. One of the Nico's would not shut the fuck up promoting herself, I had to walk out. She did the same thing during the idol master panel. Who the hell handles panel feedback because if this cunt gets another panel next year, the panel director needs to be fired.

Exactly. Baby did a LOT to show their appriciation and if you were there it was obvious by the way the baby guest were acting. They were so kind and wanted to make sure they could give everyone as much attention as they could. Those girls barely sat down the entire time and it never once seemed like a chore to them. The complaining in the thread is directed at people who were supposed to be organizing it, like Andrea, and the quality of the tea and desserts. No one is ungrateful towards baby, they went above and beyond.

The panelist or audience member? We can talk to them, it's okay.

But I'm wondering what you'd like out of this kind of panel? Like, talking about any particular subjects, news or old stuff? Contests?

The problem with "intro" panels is the room fills up with people who already know everything so it's kind of a waste of time. Needs a new approach really.

Yeah. On a big camera, what you want to do is cover the flash with a diffuser (like an umbrella) or else point at the ceiling.

Direct light on people's faces or on cheap shiny wig looks really unattractive. Of course it might be better than nothing…

>> No.7853232

>>7853213
I had a diffuser on but it was probably a stock one that comes with the flash. So even with that you recommend never point it directly at them?

>> No.7853405

>>7853232

It depends who's judging them. Diffusers start being good when they're a few inches across in each dimension, but photographers can spot it when it's anything less than a shoot through umbrella, and it really bothers them.
