I haven't been around in a while and I'm wondering if "sandy cunts" is just an insult the community has decided to collectively adopt and use with aplomb or there's just one twat wandering around calling everyone who dares disagree with her "sandy cunts" because I swear I've seen that insult about 7 times on this board today.

Depends...I always thought prostitute implied various partners, one-time deals paid by the hour/act.

I wouldn't classify having a sugar daddy to be EXACTLY the same as being a prostitute.
More close to being a kept woman.
In the same ballpark, but not exactly the same.

I think it depends on the context.
There's been a lot of threads in which guys have posted, and their gender is actually relevant to the discussion, for example in skincare threads since a guy's skin is different from a girl's and shit.

The problem is when a guy decides to pull out the "btw I'm a guy XD" card in order to validate his opinion, or to make it more important or valid just because he has a penis, and this is a problem that happens in other boards where there's more males than females and vice versa.

That's also why threads tend to get derailed.

I'm tired of people using the term "sandy" as a way to try to shut people up. As if being mad or annoyed on /cgl/ of all places invalidates what the person is saying. It's become a SJW style ad-hom reaction that is used way too often, along with vendetta. It's being used the same way things like bullying are on tumblr.

Sandy never struck me as a SJW term, just a simple ad-hom like you said. Actually since it's pretty female-specific (sandy vagina) and is often followed by "cunt" I don't think it's the SJWs who are primarily using it. It's just the new "mad". In a year or so we'll have a new insult that basically means the same thing.

How about just fat threads in general? The bulk of people on this board, on 4chan and in the world(including myself) think being fat is terrible and disgusting, but they have to hold their tongue all the time for fear of backlash. Most of these people are 'honestly not trying to cause issues' but will do so by responding to everyone, trolls, shitposters, everyone. It seems to be the number 1 cause of derailed threads as well. Honestly though as someone who occasionally visits /v/... You guys are pretty much exactly the same. Good threads, bad threads, bait threads, random squabbles about insignificant bullshit that derail good threads AND bait threads, friendly banter, occasionally hijacking a bait thread to turn it into something great, etc. Our petty squabbles just seem more petty to you because you're not involved in the same interests we are. /v/ posters screaming at each other because they don't like the same video game seems just as oversensitive and silly to me.

>> No.7811084

Vendetta posts should get bans. No one cares that you have irrational hate for someone and want to shit up the board repeatedly. That being said, people call out vendettas whenever someone posts something they disagree with.

People should ignore trips when they try to derail threads.

The sticky should be changed to include how questions should be posted in existing help threads. This is especially true for the "I've got my first con tomorrow, how do I make a costume?" threads. Ban people that don't follow the sticky.

Emotes are stupid, but it's also stupid to respond every time with "good luck surviving on 4chan" or something equally cheesy.

Bringing up that you're internet famous or cosfamous or using it as a defense or argument for anything is dumb and generally no one here cares.

We don't need to be constantly reminded about internet famous cosplayers. I don't care that they look old or have bad skin or that they are overrated. We've been over it so many times.

Don't try and end arguments with trolls or stupid people, just relax and move on with your life.

Keep the sugar daddy stuff away. Cosplay and lolita are misunderstood and sexualized enough as it is. We don't need the public to assume we're all emotional or actual whores.

Having opinions about fatness or how cute a chubby person is shouldn't be labeled tumblr all the time. People have their own tastes. That being said, cut out the arguments about fat acceptance. The board won't ever agree. People should be free to make their own cute fat people or hambeast threads all they like.

Keep the talk about triggers elsewhere. No one here cares. Keep the mental health stuff board related and in the feels threads.

That's all I got for now.

Also, can we please stop tossing around "sandy cunt" like a volleyball? It stopped being funny a long time ago. Use it sparingly, not every time someone says a thing you disagree with.

I saw the thread. When people sugggested etsy and taobao where the wristcuffs were less than $30 she still complained that wristcuffs were still too expensive and whined that they should be even cheaper.

It kind of throws people's kindness back in their faces as they had gone to the trouble of finding places for her and she acted like it was her God-given right to demand lower prices. At that point it was more her bratty responses than the actual price of the wristcuffs that set people off. I mean, whinge about the prices of wristcuffs all you want, but don't go demanding that sellers must drop their prices just because you say so, that's unreasonable.

I want /fit/ friday threads back, or a cosplay fitness general. This board's supposed to be about stuff relevant to the hobby, and we get a skincare/beauty thread and hair thread. Those both apply to the hobby but aren't detrimental, and I feel that getting into shape for a character is the same deal.

I was way more comfortable talking about getting abs for Cure Sunshine on this board than over at /fit/, and you guys took that away from me.

Fuck no, /fit/ has always given one-sided, shitty advice. They always assume any seagull trying to lose weight is a landwhale attempting to get smaller, nothing else.

- If you ask them about exercises for building abs they'll tell you you can't spot reduce, nevermind building ab muscles.
- If you tell them you want to get waif-like they'll give a spiel on how lifting won't build muscles if you don't do it for hours everyday, entirely forgetting that the girl asking for the advice could be already skinny and wants to look even skinnier.
- If you ask them for diet advice then they'll repeat the same calories in calories out ad hominem, they don't seem to know what appetite suppresants are or how they help.
- In fact, other than "eat less and lift", they don't seem to have any other advice. Stands to reason, they're not actually nutritionists or doctors, just a bunch of autists who want to feel good about giving (shitty) advice on "the girl board"
- for funsies they'll tell you stacking is bad, evil and will kill you, but then go on and post how to do it anyway.

They'll give you all of this shit in their most stupid, condescending tones, too, doesn't matter if their advice doesn't answer your question or if it doesn't fit, they'll actually spend the entire thread arguing with you on why you're stupid and they're right.

Make a cosplay body help thread if you want, but keep /fit/ friday off our boards, please. If you like them so much, then I don't see why you'd feel uncomfortable posting there for help.

If you actually feel uncomfortable posting on /fit/, well, that's exactly the reason we want them off this board.

I'm not who was initially responding.

The guy's point was that /fit/ advising that spot reduction is a myth is not a bad piece of information for someone looking for "exercises for building abs."

/fit/ is shit. They would respond with "squats" and "lift heavy" for someone asking how to build abs. Because then they can seem like elite fitness experts with their bros. DYELs who have been on SS for 3 months thinking they know everything is about 75% of /fit/ population.

It actually used to be a good board. There was a lot of interesting discussions and great advice exchanged. But that was years ago and anyone who knew anything left as it steadily became a place for high school kids to share their "feels."

>Just out of curiosity, why would he need to eat big? It seems counter intuitive that you'd have to gain fat in order to build muscle.

You don't have to, though a caloric surplus makes building muscle easier. During the initial phases a person can lose fat and gain muscle simultaneously quite easily. This is harder as one progresses.

There's also more to nutrition than "calories in vs. calories out" though it is important enough when it comes to fat loss to be repeated ad nauseum

Anyway, /fit/ is inded full of angsty faggots just as /cgl/ is full of bitter bitches and /r9k/ sad losers.

This is all covered in the /fit/ sticky. This is why they lose their shit when questions like this are asked so frequently.

Okay here's how it works:
In order to build muscle, your body needs energy (calories). If you are meeting your daily requirements for energy, your body stays the same with a few tweaks here and there.

If you don't get enough energy, your body has to consume itself in order to keep functioning. It goes for your muscle and fat stores. Working out lets your body know it needs muscle, so you'll lose a bit less muscle if you workout while at a caloric deficit.

If you damage your muscles (by working out) and your body has excess energy (you've eaten beyond requirements), it can rebuild the muscle bigger and stronger. Your body won't go all out on muscle though, it will repair what it needs to and store the rest as fat.

So in order to get muscle mass, you have to eat above your requirements and incur the 'penalty' of a bit of fat.

Making significant gains while on a deficit is possible as the other anon said, but it is much more difficult and will take much longer. Definitely not the way to go if you're a novice looking to get in shape in a year for a con. Better to bulk and then cut. The amount of time doing either depends on how effectively you can lose fat.

That's the simple version.
Vitamins and minerals will improve how well your body does these things, that's why it's important to eat healthy.

I hope that helps.

It's really a pity about the board, I went there a little while ago looking for nutrition info (just got into partial DIY soylenting and hit a barrier with understanding nutrients), but even if hell freezes over I wouldn't go back to /fit/ for help, there is none there.

/cgl/ certainly has its share of bitchy girls and trolls, so I don't understand why /fit/ keeps coming back. The /cgl/lers in here certainly don't want /fit/izens in here, even the one who wanted a fitness thread made sure to say /fit/ was shit, so why keep coming back? At this point I'm about ready to declare anyone who claims they're from /fit/ are actually trolls.

>>7812139

>all covered in the /fit/ sticky
>they lose their shit when questions like this are asked so frequently

It's more or less the reason that /fit/ is not welcome here, though. You'd think it's a given that if you go to another board and offer fitness advice, you WILL get inundated with newbies asking newbie questions. /fit/izens who find this annoying should just stay on their home board, hence why /fit/ Friday should never be resurrected.

Thanks for the explanation on bulking and cutting, now it makes more sense to me when I see that term in random threads. Strangely enough, so far most of the websites I find say that it's something for pro body builders to do, apparently a common pitfall for beginners and even intermediates is you might get fat instead of swole (lol the irony).

Because you can't do that. You're asking them how to exercise one part of your body and only that one. I honestly don't know how dense you can be to actually not see how stupid you sound.

The problem is that, to someone from outside of your community, "spot reduce" sounds like it's specifically referring to losing weight in an area, not building any sort of muscle. So someone asking "how do I get abs" (and everyone else in this thread) doesn't understand when you start throwing your silly buzzwords around.

IE "spot reduce? I don't wanna reduce them, I want to do the exact opposite. stop telling me how to reduce!!"

You don't seem to get the concept of not everyone finding this to be a big deal. "Any means necessary " implies a level of shame that, believe it or not, isn't there for all involved. Re-stating what the other anon said - not everyone has the same values. I find pushing one's values on others to be worse lol

I think mentioning it, especially on feels threads is ok. Its just the arguments that derail the thread afterwards that are annoying.

>My coord for [enter dress]
> ridiculous amounts of nitpickyness

I don't think the two things are a uh separate peeve, I believed they're definitely connected and stems from cgls way to wear lolita as a special event sort of thing? I think few wear it outside of meets and cons and you probably only wear any given dress once or twice then sell it to attain the latest print. So, you tend to see any given coordinate for a dress as that person's one and only special coord for that dress and are annoyed at how they couldn't get everything just right for this special occasion.

As someone who wears the fashion, not daily but certainly not as this special even sort of thing it's such a peeve! I keep my clothes for years and over the years wear it a million different ways and some Coords are better than others but fuck it. If I can't think of at least 3 separate coords for a dress its not worth getting but most people seem to only have one coordinate for a dress? Or at least that's the way this "my coord for [enter dress print]" comes off, specially when I never see the person coord it again.

Guys have the same skin as a girl, but most of them they don't have a skincare routine, even if most of them need one especially if badly ruined by spots or acne. Take care of youself is good not something that make a guy "less male".

A most recent thing is people making fun of other women here for basically just being housewives. I don't understand what is so wrong about it if it's the woman's and her husband's own choice to make.

People not looking through the catalog before posting a thread.
Thread derailments on an otherwise good thread.
Vendettas.
Idiots from other boards coming on to cgl to try and bait.
