I want to cosplay for this year's AWA, but I suck at cosplay and sewing. I was considering going as this fellow and just standing near an escalator. I figure the costume will be simple enough.

Going as Sailor Moon's Usagi in some casual outfits. Haven't even tried my wig on yet because with my luck, once they're out of the bag they manage to get tangled and generally look horrible just from trying to get them back in.

Yay just a month left and one of the people who was supposed to room with me dropped out. It's cool though cuz i got emergency money fot my hotel room.

There's a CCT bus that leaves from Arts Center (the CCT 10) and goes directly to Cumberland Mall. The trip is only about 15-20 minutes (verses the Marta 12). You can use your Breeze card to transfer, too, so it's not a separate fare. Just be sure you take the correct bus when you leave, since later stops might take you in the completely wrong direction.

The only catch is CCT doesn't run on Sundays.

My(Kiritsugu) wig isn't as flaired up as it should be in these pictures, so that's why it seems somewhat flat. It looked much nicer earlier in the day.

Have you ever been? It's less of a formal event and more of a disaster that's held in the waiting room for real formal events. A room no larger than 30 feet wide and 130 feed down. Ran by idiots. The presentation of cheese platters they are doing right now would have cost me exactly the same amount per head as having a three course meal, I was also offered the option of a buffet. Semi off topic I know, but I didn't want to make a whole thread to ask this... I'm going to a con for the first time ever tomorrow, it's a 1 day event near me.

Anyways, is there some unspoken /cgl/ code of conduct for interacting with cosplayers? I know the obvious stuff like asking before taking pictures, don't harass them & follow them, don't fucking "examine" any part of their construction, all that general respect/normal human boundaries stuff.

I'm not a fucking sperg and I can handle all that shit no problem, but is something like hover hand a social obligation and not just a beta being beta? Is it weird to ask for a picture *with* a cosplayer instead of *of* them?

Don't hover hand. It's so awkward for both parties involved and makes the photo look awkward as well. Asking for pictures with cosplayers is perfectly alright but don't be all up in their business, especially if they're dressed in something sexy because it does make the cosplayer uncomfortable sometimes. Definitely ask them to do a pose with you, that's way more fun than just standing beside them for a photo. If the character has a signature pose, do that. As cosplayers, we love it when you want to do dorky photos like posing like superheroes or something.

I am looking forward to the possible trainwreck solution of group photoshoots. Since AWA doesn't want to fit the bill for the trashing of the garden/fountain area outside of the hotel, they have semi pushed all group meet ups to certain sections around the con. If you are in the garden area, the security can ask you to leave. It has been hinted that they will be shooing away people from using the area.

I'd love to go, but I'm broke and I have no way to get there.

I havent been to many cons, so I have a question. I'm bringing a prop gun to AWA, but it's completely wooden. There isnt any way that any projectile could be fired out of it--there is no barrel or trigger or anything like that. AWAs weapons policy says that prop guns have to have orange tip on the end of the gun and orange tape on certain parts of it. Should I still do this orange taping or am I fine since the gun is completely wooden?

From what I noticed, not a lot of random con goers try things on. They tend to see the price tags and move on. The girls who run the shop are good about making sure that whom ever tries things on is clean and respectful. They have a changing room in the booth so that the dress never goes far.

Baby shop staff here. To attend the event the main piece have to be Baby. Blouse, socks shoes, head bow etc. can be from another brand, but your skirt, One Piece, or Jumper skirt must be from Baby. If you don't have Baby or your significant other is joining they must be dressed nicely, not in cosplay. If you have questions or are concerned message the con ops or the person in charge of the fashion portion of the con.

I just checked the website and I don't see the rules posted. That is odd, that is usually the rules for the tea party events but the con may have decided not to have those rules at this convention. I'm not logistics so I'm not sure, I would check with con ops just in case. I will say though If you are going to wear a different brand keep in mind that they usually have prizes that include best dressed and they take pictures for the website. If your wearing a main piece from another brand your not going to get the best dressed prize and they may be crop you out of the pic when they put it online.

Just ordered the finishing touches for my tea-party coord! Should be here by Monday, I'm so excited. I got my dream dress recently so I'm wearing it there.

One thing sucks though, I lost a lot of weight and now I might be stuck wearing my 'backup sweatervest' for my Omori cosplay. It's more navy blue than black, but my black one is way too big now. It's probably the only cosplay I'm bringing so I'm disappointed.

I was a model and she couldn't find APs blouses before the fashion show so we had to do the show without blouses. I heard that AP was really angry that the outfits they sent were all wrong. I overheard her telling the tall girl who was directing the fashion show that she had gave them to the director before Frill started, but one of the staffers eventually found them hanging on the rack in the boutique like they were already for sale. She apparently had no idea where APs items were all weekend and it was unprofessional and looked really badly on Frill.

She was the vender contact person so it was her job to keep track of the items sent by the brands. I heard that she didnt buy insurance on the package of items that she sent back to AP after the show and then refused to pay AP for damages when the box got lost in the mail.

Spent a good hour printing and reprinting my bus tickets along with my bus schedule and my Atlanta public transportation schedules.

That bus stop is the MARTA Civic Center train station. Take the Northbound train to Arts Center (I believe it's the second stop?). Once you arrive at Arts Center, both MARTA bus 12 ans CCT bus 10 will take you to Cumberland Mall, where a bridge nearby will take you to the convention center. On Sundays, the CCT does not run
