Is the manic panic bleaching route the only way to go with lavender hair?

>> No.7591385

Yes.
Lavender and all pastel colors have very low pigment, there is no way to actually make that hair permanent since you're hardly putting any color on your head in the first place. You're going to have to do this and then just keep up with it.

I'm one bleaching away from having perfect pastel ready hair but my hair is breaking off at the ends. It's not to the point where it was a month ago where just running my fingers through it would cause it to fall off but with a bit of effort I can pull tiny chunks of it.

First, yes I know I'm dumb.
Second, how do I remedy this temporarily. I want my hair to grow out more before I cut it. It's slightly past my shoulders and I don't want it any shorter. (it grows fast so it won't take too long)
I have coconut oil masks that I use twice a week that make my hair look a little better. Anyone have anything else I can try in the meantime? I hear It's a 10 is good, but I don't want to spend that much on something that I'm not sure about.

This is true. Thankfully for lavender there is another option. If you can get your hair white it very close to white (which you'd have to do anyway for that color) you can use a purple shampoo and leave it in for longer than the average time. Dark purple tinting shampoo and conditioner is for removing yellow from your hair if you have bleached or very pale hair and can accidentally turn you lavender.
Just make sure your bleaching is even. Otherwise you'll end up with gold in place and lavander in others.

>light brown hair
>considering pink-brown shade like pic related

I never dyed my hair before and I have no clue how to go about getting this specific shade. I know some Japanese brands have pink-brown tones but they're not quite what I'm looking for.

I'm thinking about bleaching to just a lighter shade of brown, and then apply some Directions pastel pink dye, but I'm not sure if that will look how I think it will look. Can you guys shed some light? I'm definitely getting a trustworthy pro to bleach and dye my hair, I just need to make sure I can explain exactly what I want.

I'm considering bleaching my hair, but I'd want my hair to be at tip-top levels of healthiness before I attempt it, so I could continue that on through the bleaching.

I just want a simple answer on how to keep my hair healthy and what each item does. It's only recently that I learned that hair lotions don't add moisture to your hair, they just lock in the moisture that's already there. That's why you're supposed to do it with damp hair. But I might even be wrong there.

My hair is so dry and I want it to be not dry. I'm already no shampoo, but I don't know what else I should to.

Not true. You just have to pay attention to the ingrediens. Personally, I recommend "Recipes of Grandma Agafia" for making hair stronger (but don't overdo it, thrice a week should be more than enough), and massaging your scalp with fenugreek tea to prevent falling off (this can be done daily)

Coconut oil isn't for everyone, it depends on hair structure. You can (and should) try it, but don't get discouraged when it won't help. Just try another oils, like avocado and almond. Pay attention to what is written on the package though, you want to use an oil that has been produced mechanically, not by high temperature.

Use lots and lots of conditioner. It basically... glues your individual hairs together, i guess? It coats them to keep split ends from being split. A somewhat different dye question -- does anyone know of good temporary hair "coloring" that will show up on **black* hair? So far all I've got are L'oreal Hairchalk (pic related) and various variants of chalk pastels, both require you to colour the hair strand by strand.

I want to try blue hair, but since I have black hair, the maintenance for going permanently blue is really high, and a wig doesn't have the right feel. Kind of hoping someone on here has some colouring method that will cover my hair much faster than coloring it strand by strand so I could just try it for a day or a weekend.

Elumen lasts really long even as pastel colors. You still need to bleach your hair, but the actual color lasts up to half a year or so (permanent dye). Many of my friends have had it done, the brightness is well worth it. It's expensive though and only certified stylists can actually use it. (it can be bought over amazon/ebay aswell though if you're adventurous enough)

Get some macadamia oil and argan oil, mix them and do a full masque as often as needed right before showering. Massage your scalp with it, too. Mind you they're the same main ingredients as in the hyped up macadamia nut oil hair treatment, it's way cheaper to just get the oils though. I've always had brittle hair and this helps a lot. Also use a drop of oil on your hair tips after showering. It wont repair your already broken ends, but it will postpone new breakage if used regularly.

I was in a similar situation a few years ago. I thought my hair is completely falling off, I had like big bunches of hair in my hand when I went through my hair, much more after washing. I noticed my hair was thin as fuck and I also saw more skin showing. A real horror. I went to all kinds of dostors, but nothing was found. I was dying. The trick which did it for me in the end was not to give any fucks about my hair anymore.
I stopped looking at the brush all the time, inspecting my scalp to oblivion... And here I am, my hair is the same after years. So it probably was just psychological. It might be the same in your case. Surely you should let yourself check at the doctor, but they probably won't find anything. (general doctor, gynecologist for the hormones - if you have an imbalance that can cause your hair falling; and an endocrinologist too) So after the doctors don't find anything you just need to calm down and live your life happily and don't look that much at your scalp. Being stressed can in the end just cause it to fall out more.
Also hair is the most part a genetic thing. Is your mother bald? If no, you really have nothing to worry about. She might have thin hair, like my mom does and so do I. Just accept that and no worries, anon. Good luck.

>I'm sorry to say that, but you have probably wrecked both your hair and your scalp.
Well fuck me.
My hair was around elbow length, maybe a bit longer. It was thick with good volume. I used to curl it with plastic rollers and I needed around 12 large ones for my whole head. After no poo I only needed around 8-9. That's the only concrete measure I have I guess. I also notice that when I braid it the result is a lot thinner and my buns smaller.
Recently I cut it under my boobs to make it look fuller but didn't help much.

Before starting no poo I used to wash weekly without problems. When starting no poo I washed like every 2-3 weeks.
I was happy with my hair, just a bit annoyed with the frizz, that's why I started.

I'll try the baby shampoo. What do you think on hair loss shampoos? before I was considering the Hergen one, also the Silk elements energizing line from Sally's which seemed to relate to my problem.

I bought it's a 10 and with two applications my hair stopped turning into cotton candy when it was dry. I recently bleached it (twice because I am a risk taker and stupid) and it isn't breaking off which is, uh, surprising. Of course it is damaged beyond repair, as long as it can LOOK good while I grow it out I'm fine (which shouldn't be long as i just dyed my hair a day and a half ago and already I can see black growing out ;_;). Also, when I bleach I slather it in coconut oil. Never really helped before.

I was there about six months ago, actually. About a third of my hair fell out and it really freaked me out. Went to different doctors and none of them were able to help, but a few months after it started falling out it finally stopped, and is just now growing back in. Maybe it will begin to grow out again? I've been taking biotin recently and I am IN LOVE.

Seriously, it works wonders. My hair is already growing and I've only been taking biotin supplements for about 10 days. I've also noticed that my skin is a little more clear recently.

The only drawback is that it seems to make my nails grow slower. They've hardly grown since I've started taking the pills. Is that a normal, or is something going wrong? I don't really mind because my nails aren't very important to me but I just find it strange.

There are so many conflicting opinions on what you should and shouldn't do. I just want someone to give me a regimen and to tell me what products I should use, preferably something that wouldn't break my bank. I'm getting so frustrated with all this that my price cap just keeps creeping higher. I just want something to work.

My hair is still so dry even after I condition and lotion it. Right now I'm using Trader Joe's Tea Tree conditioner and some shea butter hair lotion afterwards. I don't shampoo, except for my bangs, and those get so ridiculously dry from it that I can't imagine how terrible it would look on the rest of my hair. Maybe if I did the baby shampoo thing the other anon was talking about, but I definitely need a better conditioner and/or leave-in.

I'm not sure if the biotin has affected your nails it might be your diet like do you get enough protein and zinc. I've used biotin for 6 months and it has sped up my hair growth (everywhere). I found out that a local pet store sells biotin supplements cheaper and with better potency than drug stores so I usually go buy some for my ''cat'' once per two months. I managed to reach white and was able to do pastels. It was a long process. Maybe a month or more. During that time I bleached my hair twice. After the second time I knew that was my limit so I bought a platinum hair dye kit from feria and that held a lot with the yellow and orange tones. Then I used purple shampoo everyday for a week and after that only every other day. Ithe feria kit also came with a tinted toner. In between this whole thing to prevent breakage and split ends I bought a keratin treatment and did that every day in the shower. Finally I bought a toner from wella and I was done. Do you have a picture of your white hair down? It really is hella white! What pastels did you jump for?

Your platinum blond picture really inspired me, though. I've never really liked platinum blonde, but I realize now that it's because when you see pictures of it, girls usually tan the bejesus out of their skin too. I don't like that look unless it's on a gyaru. Either that, or it's just too yellow and blonde, not enough platinum or it's gone past platinum into white.
I love it here on your skin tone, and your skin looks fairly similar to mine. It's hard to tell from pictures, so would you say that your skin has kind of a combination of pink and yellow undertones?
How long had you been using the purple shampoo to get to this point before keratin, and what did your hair look like before you started the purple?

My bangs are blunt cut across the forehead. I've worn the Xena haircut forever and its for the most part, fine, but I'd like to try my hand at some older hairstyles.

Issue being, it doesn't seem like short bangs were part of the average woman's salon trip.

I'm wondering: could I pin my bangs back and apply a lace front hairpiece directly underneath my hairline? This way I could pull the false 'bangs' up to create poufs and such. They would presumably hide my real, pinned-back bangs.

Shampooing it will do some damage, the sun can do some damage, pretty much anything could damage it. Keeping it beautiful, shiny, and free of split ends is not as easy as it sounds.

In regards to your children comment, did it ever occur to you that hair type definitely changes during puberty? A lot of people aren't aware of this fact. Hi, fellow hair seagulls. I just wanted to share with you my first experience at an asian hair salon.

I got my hair cut a few days ago at a well reviewed asian salon near my house. When I first walked in she was very friendly, complimented my style. I brought a reference photo from a j-fash scan and told her I was going for the look in those photos. She looked and talked about how to best achieve the look I was going for with my hair type, thickness etc.
I had my hair shampooed as I always do, and during the process she asked me if I wanted a scalp massage, which I agreed and it felt pretty damn awesome afterwards.
She then started cutting my hair, she didn't make tons of small talk and worked in a professional, timely manner, stopping every once in a while to let me know what she was doing. Once the cut was done the blowdry began and she explained how to easily achieve the exact look I wanted by showing me how she was doing it, she also did a few other little styling things at the end, telling me how to do them myself as well.

After it was all done it was perfect, I was really happy with how it looked, felt and the entire experience as well as the cost. At the end before I got up she even showed me a more flattering way to style my eyebrows.

All in all, this is a 500x better experience than any time I've tried to get an "asian" cut by anyone else, or even just most of my other salon experiences. I think everyone should try to find a good asian salon because the difference is just night and day.

No, but think about it this way - the work that you're working at now has no obligation whatsoever to keep you either. You could have fun, but most 'fun' things come with consequences. Either find a more lax workplace or deal with the asshole - the number of bad things that could happen at a part time work place make your complaint into a first world problem of first world problems.

This is almost as stupid as the 'wearing full blown lolita in the workplace' argument. If you don't like it you're more than welcome to move on.

The way I see it, I wouldn't hire a teenager with unnatural hair colors because they do tend to be rebellious and impulsive and not what I'd want working for me.
If someone over 20 has odd hair but doesn't act like a teenager (ie. well-adjusted adult that happens to have blue hair), I'd be fine with it.

I think your hair would be really adorable with bangs. Straight across would be cute, but make sure they aren't too blunt. Think more midori, and less misako. I just wanted to let you gals know that I have been using the Wen line of hair products as a replacement for conventional shampoo and conditioner, and to risk sounding like an infomercial I have the following results.

*After Two Months*
~Better and even color and retention (probably because it doesn't lather and strip)
~Softer when grouped up, silkier strands.
~More reflective and shiny.
~Practically no tangles
~Malleable, can curl it with a finger, or straighten it with a round brush with nothing but a dryer.
~Less dirty/oily feeling sense my natural oils aren't stripped out and overcompensating. Wash it no more than every other day.
~Way less flyaways, hair is more solid and uniform by default.

There is a learning curve when switching to Wen, for one you have to use a LOT of it if you have medium to long hair. You also have to wash, rinse, and repeat (and even that needs to be done correctly) and make sure to get the right formulation for you hair.

Its also like 3x as effective to stop using heating tools other than a dryer with a nozzle attachment, as well as various hair products that aren't all natural/have alcohols.

I don't mind answering any questions about my experiences/how to use it. If you guys are like me you probably saw that infomercial and thought it was a gimmick, but its really awesome for me and a lot of people it seems.

Quite a bit, but probably not that bad if I cut out all the products I am not buying anymore.

For medium hair like mine I use about 2 oz total every other day. After shoulder length I would say it takes an extra 1oz per 6 inches of hair.

The best prices you are gonna find for the basic Cleansing Conditioners is $1.30-$2.00 per oz from a place like QVC in the 16oz, 32oz, or Gallon sizes. (Gallon only till the end of this month) This is a rough guide, because your might need more or less, but you can generally work out how much it will cost you with a little math.

The absolute best value you will get on just the CC are the Gallons on QVC when are only during this month. It should last a normal person at least 6 months if you wash your hair every other day and costs $177, which can be broken up into 6 payments. QVC is pretty cool about customer support and returns if you don't like the product.

However to start out I HIGHLY recommend taking advantage of the Guthy-Renker site by getting the introductory Hair Care Basic Kit + Styling Kit for like $30, because you literally get over $100 worth of stuff because they plan on hooking you with auto-reoders. You can only get it once at that price. Just call them and cancel future orders and tell them you found it cheaper elsewhere.

I also highly recommend the current Seasonal (Summer Honey Peach) because its Soy based and the seasonals always have more expensive and conditioning ingredients. The other 3 are fine too EXCEPT DON"T START WITH LAVENDER because its for a very specific hair type (fine textured and heavy) and a lot of people don't like the smell/results.

>> No.7625709

The creator (Chaz) is a celebrity colorist and invented it specifically for color treated hair.

It doesn't have sulfates or detergents and it doesn't "lather". The consistency is like conditioner and you work into a slight froth by getting some water into it and massaging your scalp.

To answer your question they all perform amazingly to keep even semi-permanent color from leaving your hair (which 90% of the time is caused by lather and detergent).

Personally I wouldn't start with Bamboo Green Tea, its a newer formula and I have been reading some reviews where people lost more color than with the other formulas, probably because the 4-tea complex is pretty astringent. For that same reason you might also wanna skip on Cucumber Aloe. Every other formula should be fine though.

try this!
>wash your hair
>pat excess water away, leave it wet
>divide hair neatly into as many sections as you can - the more number of sections the more poof you'll have after wards
>braid each section tightly, no need to look fabulous at this point but keep it as neat as you can or it will affect final result
> if hair too short, you can turn some parts of the braids into french braids to make things easier for you
> after braiding, use hair dryer on hair until completely dry
> go to bed
> wake up and do your stuff until it's time to go out
> unbraid everything

I know I said to divide into as many sections as you can, but FYI I have really thick hair and I get half the amount of poof in rhapsody wig stock photos if I tie a total of 2 braids only. If I tie more it can get really voluminous but I don't do it because I can't really pull that look off.

this is easier to pull off the longer your hair is though.

Not the same person, but I also have white in my hair. Ive been dying my hair for about ten years now and even though its had more bleach and crazy colors in it than any person should ever have it is still healthy. This may be because I obsess over keeping it healthy that way I can continue dying it, but if you are willing to put in the effort then i can make a few suggestions.
My hair is naturally black but I had it dyed bright red before I did this. Now it looks like pic related (dont mind the uggo face in the pic, i just like it cause it shows my hair color) and is about down to my butt when not super curly like that.
normally I do my own hair but taking it from red to white is too difficult a project for my meager skills, so I went professional to get this done. I have to get it touched up about every one and a half to two months, or the roots start to look really icky. Ive tried every method of keeping it healthy in the book, but right now I feel like I have a good method nailed down for maximum health (for my hair at least. Im very greek and have very naturally dark black hair thats very thick)
first things first I dont believe in the no shampoo thing. ive never seen it make a huge difference in anyone who already keeps good care of their hair. my first suggestion usually is to only shampoo about 2-3 times a week. Even then only your scalp really needs shampoo. One way to do this is to put your hair in a low pony and only shampoo the stuff above the ponytail. I use a generic long color treated hair shampoo for this.
Next is a super big help ive found. Its the Be Yourself conditioner by Frameesi for color treated hair. this conditioner is the best ive ever used by leagues. You can tell a huge difference after just one wash. I was on the verge of chopping off all my hair because it was getting too unhealthy until i found this conditioner. Then I put a healthy dollop on the mildly damp ends. then I do my whole shaving and soap routine and everything else involved in a shower then I put my hair in the shower and toss the ends on my scalp for a second so the top of my hair gets just the slightest bit of it to help with shine then i wash it out completely. It instantly makes your hair softer, healthier, smoother, and shinier than any conditioner or treatment ive ever used (and ive used a ton).
Then once im out I lightly towel dry and then spray Its a 10 leave in spray all over. Even though its expensive I try not to be shy with it and really get my hair covered in it. If im having a bad week and my hair still feels a little brittle (rarely if ever happens) I take a little of a cream leave in (theres tons of these and most work about the same) and rub it on the tips.
theres a bunch more you can do but thats a routine that has been working for me better than anything ive tried in the past ten years. Its only really two products so dont let my ranting make it seem like too much

I hope this is alright to post.. I've been blonde for nearly a year now and I am not feelin' it anymore. I was wondering, do any of you seagulls have suggestions as to what colors might look good on me? Also, I got a haircut and my hair is now about three inches below my shoulders, so on the longer side of medium length.
Thank you!

Section your hair into pieces, initially I went with the sectioning instructions from Palty dye. As I got faster at bleaching, I just do two halves from ear to ear, then section off the front half into another two halves. As for the back, I just section things out layer by layer.

Start at the ends of your hair, then work your way up, leaving an 1-1.5 inches of roots alone. Once you're done, let the bleach work on the ends for about 10-15 minutes then go in and do your roots. Generally I make about three batches of bleach so that it's fresh enough to not leave my hair dark in patches. When doing roots, always make sure the parts that show up (sides, hair parting) get bleached first. It's embarrassing when someone points out that dark patch in your ponytail.

hope this helps

Ok, I have to thihgs right now on my mind. I finally managed to find the balance on how and with what I wash my hair, I use rye flour shampoo with Apple cider vinegar mixed with egg yolk, and my hair is coming out fantastic.

Now, first of all I want to know how can I learn to style my hair by myself, do maybe some good or elaborate styles with it,

Second, could anybody give me some tips on dyeing my hair? I''v been thinking of doing so for some time now.

Pic related my hair, yeah its kinda thick here.

So my hair is originally a light/medium reddish brown that I got lightened with blonde highlights (foils) all over. Got it salon done and she couldn't do an all over even color in one go it it'd have been too damaging. That was a month ago and I'm wondering how to get an even blonde like the pic at home? The salon is so expensive and wondering how to get it at home... I've been using John Frieda Go Blonder shampoo and conditioner but I don't see a huge change (only been using for half a month). Thoughts? Also my hair is pin straight and fine white people hair.

Dude, gonna be honest, the baking soda/no poo method fucking WRECKED my hair. Swinging its pH from one end to another every time I washed it turned it from thick, black, soft curly hair into stiff, reddish-brown-in-the-light STRAW. I'd hold it and it'd stick out three inches from my hand!!

I kept it up for almost a year, then fucking abandoned it once I realized what I was doing. I had to cut a lot of the ends off; switching to the co-wash method helped my hair IMMENSELY. And I still don't have to use shampoo!

As someone with as about as much hair as you, albiet a different colour: It will be an extreme amount of hassle. If you've only just figured out how to take care of it properly and can't even style it, dying it by yourself if not going to go well. With your colour, black is the only colour you'll be able to get away with without damaging it to the extreme. Anything else wont take without lightening it first.

I've been thinking of doing that but, my old mindset keeps coming back with

"Well I'm young now, maybe i should try to have fun with my hair!"

I mean I don't want to do anything too drastic like cotton candy pink or anything. I guess, where i live wearing wigs and stuff is really uncommon. Everyone knows each other here and I admit I am not the bravest type. While i do wear toned down himekaji*make-up wise* I think the wigs would really freak the people out here to talk about me.

I don't have any good pics with my hair in it without looking like a self postin' attention whore (all "cutesy) dsklfjsl. I haven't been so happy with the texture/curls in my life. I'm sure bleaching it will make it frizzy like before. I'll just have to keep telling myself that,

I guess that is true hmm, maybe I'm just basing on the fact that since I can notice a wig easily that they would too. Living in a small town I fear rumors would start like "Maybe she has cancer" or some other ridiculous thing(If they could notice it was a wig). Then me getting messages on FB asking me questions. Rumors spread fast in this town for the stupidest reasons.

Like I remember once my mom went to lunch with my grandpa and a bunch of people went to my stepdads work place to tell him they thought my mother was cheating on him with an older man.

I'm pretty much a pussy i guess haha. I'll never understand the mentality of the people here.

Different anon but no, not where I live. I don't even live in a tiny gossipy town but if someone here is known to wear a wig everyone assumes they're undergoing chemotherapy/ have trichotillomania/ are bald for whatever health reason or that they're wearing a costume/ are just plain crazy. A few weeks ago one of my coworkers literally said "why would someone with healthy hair wear a wig? that's really offensive to bald people". I have no idea where this sentiment comes from but it's very prevalent here. The general opinion on cosmetic contact lenses is the same with the added bonus of "b-but you'll go blind!".
Meanwhile they're perfectly okay with ugly unhealthy bleached bright pink dyed hair, because it's ~quirky~.

I really want to wig it up when I wear lolita because my natural hair colour kind of clashes with some of my outfits, but if someone I know sees me I know I'll never hear the end of it.

Red box dye ruins your hair eventually (I know, I've been there) and she'd still have to lighten it to at the very least a sandy brown before a veggie dye red would take over it. There is no way to get a lighter shade than the hair colour you currently have than to lighten it, which will always damage it to some degree.

>> No.7636416

>>7636170
Stop using the conditioner for thin hair. Volumizing products work by opening the cuticle, so you're getting body at the expense of structural integrity.

Hair oil frequently contains silicones, which build up fast and keep any actual oil molecules from absorbing into the hair shaft. Stick with something like coconut oil, get the kind from the grocery store instead of the dimethicone-blended stuff from the beauty supply store.

Yeah, from what I read, in order to dye your hair you will need to lighten it to some degree before you can apply red dye to it. It will damage the ends of the hair, which you will have to cut too.

As for the dye it self, black and red dye are the some of the longest lasting and hardest to change after from what I read too. Black dye is pretty much the most powerful, red dye being the second most. It simply means that if you want to dye your hair after you have dyed it Red or black, its going to be hard to change.

Pic related, I would honestly go for something like this for shits and giggles, even if I got major shits for it.

I've only used the Acure brand a few times now but I really like the shampoo/conditioner so far! It was a bit expensive (like $10 each) but it's really nice, smells great too. The only thing that caught me off guard was the fact it was super watery, but it massages well in the hair. And it lathers which is weird because usually shampoos lather because of the sulfates in it, and since these products are sulfate free I'm not sure how they lather. Anyways it's going pretty well so far and I'd recommend them to anyone with color treated hair or for people not wanting to use sulfates

Stop using so much shampoo.

I'm going to admit that I'm not a white girl, so I have no idea how much you guys typically shampoo (once per day?), but try to hold off on shampooing as long as you can. Have showers wear you condition only. And try a hot oil treatment using coconut oil. In fact, try to use coconut oil whenever possible, extra virgin if you can't stand the smell.

If it's box dye, you fucked up. The stain might come out but because all box dyes contain some bleach the carpet is going to be lighter in that spot. If veggie/semi-permanent dye, I find dish soap and high proof alcohol to be effective in removing stains.
