I wouldn't say that. You can draw non fanart looking drawings if you pay more attention to the details of the cosplayer themselves such as drawing their distinct facial features or matching the drawing to their skin tone. If you more concerned with drawing the person and not the character, you get get some interesting results

Lolita, J-fashion, whatever.

I guess cosplay is alright too, but fashions will likely come out more... individualized. If that makes sense.

Could I have this drawn? It's the only time I've worn this dress, despite owning it for nearly a year, so would like to commemorate the occasion somehow. Also I was having a wee bit of makeup and hair fail that day (lost all the volume of it walking through the wind, and makeup was just...fail) so feel free to alter it to be less bleh.

You're proposing posting cosplay pictures just so we can focus on non-cosplay parts of them, which honestly sounds pointless. We'd be better off just doing candid mugshots of each other if it came to just doing features.

Cosplay clothing (especially from anime) most of the time looks nothing like actual clothes, it's either very exaggerated in proportions and volume or very simplified in design and details. Sometimes even both. Lolita on the other hand is a detailed, polished look that's quite varied and it's just much more fun to draw.

Heat or not, I hardly think an unflattering picture means someone's ugly. Not having perfect make up skills and a good photographer does not mean someone's ugly. Hell, I finally got my first flattering picture in lolita last weekend, after months of having my picture taken by people who are not photographers. Plus some people simply are not photogenic. That's how it really is.

I had 5 dollars, tape, and a Nike shoe box to cosplay Bane this Holloween..

the coat is a bit big for me so the shoulders sit lower then they should, giving that large shoulder effect.
also boobs don't tend to naturally sit right up under one's chin, especially if you have a large cup.

Concrit away if you're still around - I had heaps of trouble coording it (hence why I've only worn it out once) so tried to base it off the SNT illustration. Also quite happy for makeup/hair tips as well - since that pic, I've progressed to slightly more successful nude/natural eye makeup and natural lip colours, but my hair is still at its happiest being flat and straight and typically Asian.

I use PS all the time too. I have a love hate relationship with it.
Have you tried changing the cache size, by the way? Maybe it's taking up too much memory. Or just smaller canvases but I know that sucks.

And the colors are honestly the same as any other program. It's really the painting, for me. And I like how powerful it is, and that I can block in a form then make a new layer and ctrl+alt+g and poof it's like locking opacity but with different layers.

Are you wearing the Flaxen colour? Your indoor photo looks a lot darker than the Taobao model's.

It's closer to this colour in person, which is more.. orangey compared to the first photos shown - I'd hoped for more of a light brown colour but it's still nice - shop also sends out a wig cap and comb.

Wow, thanks, anon! I'm not sure what you mean about the style of drawing, though. I basically just tried to copy the photo. I guess the hair was influenced by Alphonse Mucha and Hagio Moto and the eyes by CLAMP? Or do you mean something else?
