Actually, that's sort of another pet peeve of mine, though I know it's just a personal weird thing and I understand why people like to do them: lolita photoshoots. It's one thing if you are actually a model, or are pursuing a modeling career, but I don't really get them as a big common everyone-does-it thing, especially since most lolita 'photoshoots' amount to shittily done candid pictures in someone's backyard.
But that's just personal tastes since I am generally not comfortable personally partaking of a lot of the more costumey elements of lolita, like wigs and huge amounts of makeup/circlelenses as well, and I associate photoshoots with my cosplaying only.

My pet peeve is when someone in your comm tries to make meet-ups but plan them for when everyone else has work/exams/cost a butt load of money/dietary needs aren't met.
Then this person complains that no-one likes her and everyone is bullying her and tries to re-plan and re-schedule despite other members explaining clearly why they cannot go.
e.g Everyone works part-time, mainly on the weekend and you wish for us to give up a days pay for a $70 half-day tea party and the only reason you suggest this place is because it'll match your fucking outfit.
If you're trying to do this to exclude certain people from the meet-up- just make a private one, no need to plaster it on the comm board.

I know this happens in every kind of club, but yeah I'm mad.

Sorry, I don't know who you're talking about but I plan expensive tea parties and I do it for two reasons.

1. This is an expensive hobby, I don't want to wear my expensive dresses to the park. This fashion is about elegance, and indulgence, not cheapness and mediocrity.
2. Most of the girls who can't afford these types of meets are new lolis who only own bodyline F+F and are obnoxious and it's an easy way to exclude them indirectly

I plan these meets because I want lolita to match up with my expectations of the fashion, high teas, and beautiful dresses, and constantly having meets that are in public parks, or free admission day in art museums just don't live up to that.

But as the anon stated above, it's the lack of consideration which is what I am bothered about. If the comm decided to do 4 big, grand, over-the-top meets per year it would be fine as you could budget for them and plan to have great outfits for them. But when there is short notice and poor planning it doesn't make for a great time.
You mentioned you plan events for your comm, do you have any advice you could offer so I could help this person out, they are genuinely starting to feel like an outcast but they just don't seem to be listening. Other girls have tried to 'lead by example' with doing an event that is expensive (High tea/early dinner with a tour of a local winery) however she didn't end up attending.

If she's genuinely your friend, ask her why she wants a meet where she's holding it, or why that particular time (I always plan mine on a weekend and around a particular loli friend of mine's schedule). I had a few girls that kept missing mine and when they confessed that they had really wanted to attend I also took them into consideration. I don't think she means to be exclusive, which is what my meets started out with, it's just hard to take a group of one hundred or so girls all into consideration at once.

If you just get to know her a bit better and maybe talk to her about what times work best for you and her I think she'd be a bit more understanding. A lot of times for new girls, or for outcast girls, it's not picking up on social cues presented in a larger, diverse group of people.

What sounds like a great idea to you, may not be a great idea for everyone, and without any direct feedback, you'll never know otherwise.

Oh god, this. The only instance I've seen socks over thights work was black-on-black, because they blend into one surface. But pink kneesocks over blue tights are so garish and distractong I can't even.

Some other pet peeves:
-color combos that make lolita look instantly like a manga design and not actual clothing, for instance red+white, turquoise+pink, creepycute lavender+mint.
-not using any accessories at all. Not a huge fan of mixing in decora, but lolita looks just unfinished without at least a bracelet or necklace and some head accessories (this one should be duh, but it's not apparently).
-dull hair and no fringe with heavy head accessories. Not everyone can pull off brow hiding curtain, I get it, but you're just gonna look frumpy as fuck with that orphan's middle parting.

Every high schooler doing X project on lolita fashion (that in and of itself is a pet peeve, actually) and then posting to the comm asking for advice instead of doing research themselves which is likely a skill the project was aiming to develop.

No, I watch some animes, though not a whole lot, and I treat them the same as any western animated series.
But outlandish clothes with no ground in reality seem to be the staple for certain types of anime art. Notice how color combinations I mentioned are pretty much NEVER used in regular fashion.

Wow, I'd love my local comm to hold a weekday meet. Every single one is on a weekend, and my weekend work is the only one that's not flexible. I've tried arranging a weekday meet before but they just took my plans and moved it to a weekend and I couldn't attend. Maybe. I know they used to think I'm a snob, and maybe they still do think that. It was because I couldn't go to any of their meet ups (due to being on weekends) so I met up on a weekday with a couple of friends who also wear lolita, and they started complaining that we were having 'secret meet ups'. They started sucking up to my two friends because they got kind of e-famous, but I'm still a nobody so maybe they didn't forgive me yet.

I want to roll my eyes at the newerish members. they get excited about things that have been around for awhile, but are just discovering (and more often they like to post about it) OH my God guys did you know Innocent world ships international!!!. I might just be old and jaded, but at least at meets when they get all excited about something I've done for years now it can be entertaining and let me reminisce. I do color enhancement/cropping. Sometimes I play with Photoshop actions for different mood effects for shits and giggles. I've also taken things out of backgrounds that I didn't want there (random person in the back of an otherwise nice photo, or cigarette butts on the ground). But I don't believe in shooping yourself to a size 2, or completely making yourself look like a different person. That really bothers me. There's one girl who posts in some of the plus size comms and clearly shoops herself smaller. It's like, girl... you're posting to a plus size comm dafuq.

My peeve is related and I've seen it done in two comms already. If you are planning a meet, it should be, idk, PLANNED. Like, Wednesday or Thursday is not thr time to announce a meet on Saturday. And if someone went and made a thread and poll to pick a day for a meet, got feedback, and then made an event for a meet, don't suddenly be all BUT THAT WAS THE DAY MY MEET WILL BE when you never told anyone or made an event.

I'd love to host in my town, but all we really have is a tearoom, a few historical monuments and an art gallery, so I'm not sure if it'd be worth asking people to make the forty-five minute train journey to attend anything.

the most important thing: KEEP THE WEATHER IN MIND. facebook is nifty for meetup arranging because it can give an idea of the weather for the place of the event for that day. don't do outdoor events in 90 degree weather. have a backup idea for the area in case of a problem (sudden foul weather, the place you were going is closed, etc).

When people at cons are not very open, or are close minded. Seriously, don't be a douche. People want to talk to you an take your picture. Don't shrug em off, be cool like "sorry I don't have the time right now." Being a colossal bitch/dick is just wrong at cons. The same goes for the person taking the pic. The person cosplaying does not have all day, it is a nice gesture and the compliments are cool, but don't take a whole photoshoot in the damn hallway. A picture or two is fine.
