From easiest to hardest to coordinate (at least in my opinion):

I feel like even though having good quality pieces forms the basis of any solid coord, it's especially so for gothic. Gothic also has less colour variations so in theory it would be harder to fuck up, though I've seen some awful coords by people not keeping it simple and clean. I wear classic and while coords tend to be simpler, textures and conflicting neutrals seem to be harder for newbies to grasp. Also honourable mention to people who "wear classic" but add sweet accessories, it throws off the whole look. I don't wear sweet but holy fuck when people get it wrong they look like weebs. People mixing cool and warm tones, poorly matched patterns, and cheap accessories all make the outfit look cheap and bad.

Sweet is hardest to coord followed by gothic followed by classic.

Sweet has the highest bar because it’s easy to take a wrong step and look infantile in a really creepy way. I see a lot of girls wear accessories they got at Claire’s or taobao and while one or two small ones don’t hurt, loads of plastic and childish motifs screams blinged out adult baby. Sweet also requires hair styling to balance out the look, but if you go with low-volume pigtails or double buns or braids, you look like you’re trying to be a child. You need thick or long hair to avoid that. But no-styling makes you look unkempt. And mature hairstyles sometimes clash with the theme. And I find that more round faces and body types fit the sub style because you have a naturally childish, effeminate look. Hourglasses look really weird in it because their curves give off a different vibe (maybe it’s the association with sexiness?). It’s so easy for the coord to get out of balance because the dresses are so in-your-face.

Classic has a ton of resources in the west because of its roots. The accessories are typically stuff like pearls or high quality jewelry, which are easy to find. You can wear your hair as-is or in a bun or other mature hairstyle, and you’ll look balanced. Color palette is more muted and easier to build a capsule wardrobe with. Can find most of the accessories in the west. Because it’s more straightforward to balance (wear fancy dress, wear fancy accessories), you won’t be mistaken for a child. Worst case you look like a rich conservative prick

Classic is the same story as gothic, yet again, too many people shoe horning sweet accessories and not understanding the aesthetic. Classic lolita have it the easiest with shoes.

sweet is the hardest imo unless you are doing old school sweet that usually uses solid prints. ngl, it's why i don't really wear it. Too many prints, not enough solids. You are expect to wear a crap ton of accessories, you can't get away with not wearing a wig or having perfect accessories. The worst part is the leg wear. At least with gothic and classic you can just wear floral tights you can just get from the store and there is always plain socks available by brand. Another issue is matching colours, and shoes used for sweet tend to be shit quality. The most irritating sub style to wear.
