I was honestly a little bit shocked by the intensity of the replies to OP. I get that her white guilt reeked of newness but the thread itself could've been co-opted to discuss differences between communities around the world. Learning the differences in the "core values" of the fashion I wear are interesting to me. Rufflechat has quite a few bilingual members who could've provided insight.
I was surprised by the sheer aggression from some of the western lolitas, why separate yourselves so vehemently from the place your hobby originated from? It's like they hate japanese lolitas. Is it because they're less strict with rules? Does that intimidate white lolitas who feel lost stylistically when they don't have guides and rulebooks? I'd love to hear discussions on that.

are there any central hubs of discussion these days outside of rufflechat? although it's better than twitter/ig, facebook really isn't conducive to discussion and discord is more like a chat room than a forum. my interest in comms died around the same time as livejournal so i havent visited anywhere other than here in years but would love a proper forum.

try to ask around and find an in to one of the private/hidden facebook groups. Mine is basically a smaller more exclusive version of my local comm and it's pretty lit. We have private meets and discussions and it takes a unanimous vote to add other people so it's pretty insular, but great to have sane discussions.

If we all agreed to start an r/egl subreddit (the ita pit is r/Lolita) and post good coords there I'm sure we could push out the itas. I'm not sure how to organise it.. I only started the fashion in 2019 so I'm not sure I'd be the best person to moderate it. That being said, if no one else wants to I can do it. What kind of rules and flairs should there be?

It's set so that mods have to manually approve posts right now, hopefully that will prevent spam. If anyone wants to help mod it or set up AutoMod please email me.
