I tried to translate Candy's retirement message from Twitter, source is here: https://twitter.com/AP_Candy_/status/1227588580387590144

Because of my private matters, on the 15th of February I will retire from Angelic Pretty, where I have worked almost for 20 years. Today (2/12) was my last day at work because of the public holidays. Customers were asking about stuff from me but when I tried to answer I almost cried and so I couldn't answer, I am sorry.

Like in the brand concept, since my childhood like many others I have liked lace, ribbons and pink things and the first time I came to Harajuku as a high school student, Pretty, which at the time was still a select shop, was a jam-packed dream world so despite of that I was studying interiors in vocational school...

... I joined Pretty company. Since then even if I grew older, my interests and hobbies didn't accelerate but rather now they have reached their climax. I met a lot of customers, worked with the staff, got a lot of different experiences and had a great time. It wasn't only just fun, rather there was lots of painful and sad things.

Nevertheless, I was able to spend my time in my favorite world of lolitas. Everything I have is thanks to Angelic Pretty, the friends who I talked to about this situation were old customers, people in different clothes, we all knew each other because of the brand.

Because I have worked so long with Angelic Pretty, I was really worried about abandoning brand name and my 20-year achievement but the position of General Manager expired in August. When the person said "Affiliation is only dependent*" I was able to make the decision.
(*I don't know how to translate this)

There were still things that I wanted to do. But I think I want to make my dreams come true just a little bit seperated. This is a stupid thing to say but no one in this world is more proud of Angelic Pretty than I am. If only I could expand that feeling and my own view of the world even bigger.

Of course, I love Angelic Pretty and would like to do something with them again: I want to offer things generously and keep sending the "kawaii". I was happy to spend my long long youth with Angelic Pretty. Thank you very much, everyone.

Here's a question that I've been thinking about for a while:
>Why did you choose the sub-style you did?
>Was it just because you like the aesthetic? Or are there other factors?

For example, my style is strictly country lolita, not only because I like the way it looks but because it compliments my features the best (freckles, farmer's tan, etc)
I would look terrible in an OTT/Sweet/Hime Coord.

not the most direct answer but eh. i wear pastel sweet AP prints, but i'm starting to get curious about darker palettes of classic and older gothic. a lot of atelier boz and moitie is appealing to me. i have kind of a generic "cute" babyface, but i'm tall and really leggy so i think it might flatter me. i'm starting to appreciate better construction, more structured clean lines, and fabric detailing nowadays.

Once upon a time there used to be a distinction between the two. OTT Sweet would usually be a full coord with a wig and a few accessories. Deco would feature unnaturally colored wigs and more accessories. Over time the two terms got conflated.

Either way, the bottom two photos aren’t deco or OTT sweet so I don’t get why you included them as an example of OTT you dislike.

nayrt. I'm into sets and have done it a lot (my biggest regret is actually not picking up the one and only matching wrist cuffs for my first dress, AP never reused that lace again and now it's just a hole in my lolita heart).

Even AP makes a lot of wristcuffs specific to one release, for eg this one has crowns and chocolate squares, at that time it would only be Chess Chocolate that has both themes. It's just that sometimes a theme gets popular enough and AP gets around to releasing something else with similar theme, and then you can reuse the wrist cuffs for that. It's really no different from picking up a whole jewellery set that only goes with one dress.

(If you want wristcuffs that go with different things, AP also releases logo wristcuffs that aren't tied to a specific release)

>>10342837 is just crap, though. The faceless creepy bears are bad enough, the wristcuffs themselves aren't even lace and just some regretsy-tier horrible kind of shitty.

>> No.10343150

>>10343149
This isn’t really true though. The Fancy Noel and Dream Bear jewelry sold out in minutes, and they’re both pretty “specific” sets. Not everyone who bought them also bought the matching dresses so it stands to reason lolitas coorded them in some cases with other dresses even though it wasn’t a perfect match. The homemade cuffs on the other hand are so ugly they’d never be able to go with anything else. They don’t even go with Honey Cake.

I also gotta know what lace you mean.

>> No.10343154

>>10343150

I can't tell if we're agreeing

1. Those wristcuffs are fug. I don't know who would buy them.

2. So people do buy specific sets of jewellery/wristcuffs that only go with one release, even you said it -- even if they match it with another dress, they still bought an item that only matches one release.

The lace is Happy Garden. It was easier to find the dress and the accessories but I never found the wrist cuffs.

>> No.10343160

>>10343154
I think we’re agreeing.

The wrist cuffs are abominable, anyone with a single working eyeball can see that.

I said that the accessories can be coorded with different dresses, but you’re right in that they’re designed for one release only, I can’t argue with that, even if lolitas with decent coording skills make them work for more than that.

The lace on Happy Garden is adorable, I wish AP would use it again. I also wish it wasn’t so hard to hunt down older accessories.

>> No.10343191

>>10343160

If you're willing to include homemade and offbrand there's probably some teddy bear or pancake fabric/dress out there that would coord fine with some yellow bears and red fabric, maybe.

Yes, I learned my lesson the hard way, the accessories are always the hardest to hunt down. I saw a necklace from my holy grail Midsummer Nights Dream series several years ago but didn't buy it, being a noob at that time. That turned out to be the one and only time I ever saw MND accessories for sale, ever, aatp didn't re-release them along with the dress. Ouch.
