I got in to lolita 8 years ago. As a teenager, I was friendless and socially awkward, but lolita gave me a sense of community and friendship, so I really threw myself in to it even though I was an ita little shit. I was very cringey and embarrassing, but I sure did have a good time. The only real sense of self and identity I felt was through the fashion. Fast forward, I grew up, still kinda socially retarded but somehow have a bunch of friends.
However, I’ve completely lost touch with lolita, and the only reason I can even call myself a lolita at this point is because I have a bunch of poofy dresses in my closet. I haven’t worn it at all in over a year, not even wearing any of my pieces casually, which I used to do a lot.
I miss the joy I used to find in this fashion. Has anyone else fallen out of touch at some point? How do you regain interest?

It may be that the pieces you have aren't your style anymore. I'd say look around GLB scans, lolibrary, your tumblr archive from back then if you had one etc. Try to see if you can find things you really, really would like to wear, focus on those pieces/styles. It has worked for me, I "quit" lolita two years ago and started with boystyle instead, since that was what I really really wanted to wear.

I don't think you're out of the fashion completely just because you don't wear it often or mingle with other lolitas? In anon's case, I think she counts as out of the fashion only because it sounds like she totally disconnected from her clothes and they might as well not be there.

But I'm so sick of the straight up skinwalker transbians. Especially the lolita ones. They always look kind of off and tend to talk about spergy topics. Plus they seem to take the most offense about gender shit.
Anytime I see that at a meet I just don't interact with them or just be polite and then talk to someone else.

Yeah you're right I guess i just need to unlearn my slight hate for trannies.
I just feel like so many of these trans people, especially "transwomen" come out of the woodwork and go "oh now i'm transbian" to get to screech at lesbians for being twanzphobic over not liking dick and male looking bodies. So many look like men in makeup and it feels uncanny, especially in lolita. But I know that some are genuinely just miserable being born male so i feel kinda sorta bad for them and being so hateful.

Those who screech the loudest about gender are also the ones who feel the most insecure about it. I have many trans friends of different genders and they feel comfortable enough in their gender identity to not give a damn about transphobes. A close friend of mine is a trans guy and he hates it when lgbtq people turn queerness into a personality.

Honestly hate it when sissies reeee the loudest about gender, they're not fucking trans and are genuinely hated by every single trans person I've ever talked to.

That's what I've found too. I know plenty that won't lose their minds if you slip up when speaking because duh, sometimes people mis speak because no one is perfect.

Everyone always shits on items made in China but is production quality and fabric really better if it’s made in Vietnam or Bangladesh? >> No.10311865

>>10311856
Yes and no.

The country doesnt indicate the quality itself, you can have good and bad factories. The idea that the quality must be shit because it is made in China is racist. We really dont know about the situation of the factories AP uses, we can only make assumptions why they use different factories in different countries.

But we do know that in general China isnt dirt cheap anymore for this stuff so going to other countries could be just a price thing. Paying someone pennies doesnt mean the quality of the garment is worse, it just means it is unethical. QA may be lacking if they are lazy but I think AP does keep on top of that, and probably moved factories when that happened or when fabric was stolen..etc.

>> No.10311866

>> No.10311889

>>10311865
Don't know where you got the idea that it's racist. If you grow up receiving things made in china that break easily or wear out quickly a certain perception of products from there can be developed. There was a time where expensive toys manufactured in china were being painted with lead based paints. They were great quality, you know, except for that. It conditions consumers viewpoint. This gets extended to companies like AP; in that case it's a combination of factories and standards dropping on the part of the brand. How many people had zipper, lace and print quality issues after the factory switches?

>> No.10311892

>>10311889
That perception itself is steeped in racism. Because your high quality items are also Chinese made, as is most things now. There are good and bad factories and practices. The idea that Chinese=cheap=shitty is incentivize with the fake finishing products in America to slap on the Made in USA label.

We can assume that the factories that had issues with Ap aren’t being used anymore as they are now also going to other countries, and it isn’t every release with such issues. We haven’t seen any print stealing Taobao stuff too so they clearly fixed that issue. So Ap is dealing with these issues as they come up, doesn’t mean it is going to be a shit product.

I felt like a faker because I wasn't wearing it consistently, so the few times I tried to force myself to put it on it felt disingenuous and shameful. Which is dumb because they're just clothes, but I didn't feel like I had a right to be wearing them.

I got out of it once I left my abusive relationship (my partner had shamed me for being a lolita constantly) and started working on myself through therapy and such. Now I wear lolita constantly again, they're basically my regular clothes.

I would maybe look at other aspects of your life and see if that could be what's going on? Especially if you've lost interest in any other hobbies, or don't like doing things you used to/normally do. Maybe you need to make some changes! :)

They shit on China compared to Japan. Unfortunately because of economic crisis a few years ago, a lot of manufacturers in Japan closed down and that's why some lolita brands moved part of production to China. Luckily working conditions in China are improving. That also means it's getting more expensive there and production becomes slower, so some cheap and fast brands moved to countries like Myanmar and Bangladesh. Now there's pressure on those countries to improve too, so I'm guessing those brands will have to keep moving, which makes it more difficult to keep quality consistent.

Hey CGL!

I'm currently working on my own html lolita website and I want it to have a section dedicated to pulling all resources on lolita fashion together in one place; especially including retrieved and easily viewable pages from websites that no longer exist, such as lolitafashion .org and hellolace.

My question is: Are there any other websites you would like to see specific pages retrieved from and made easily viewable? (I'll only do sections or pages of a website, not the entire thing.)

I don't wanna ask on Rufflechat bc half of that place is filled with roleplayers and sissies anyways.

The Wunderwelt original petti is pretty damn fluffy. It's too big for the majority of my dresses desu but I keep it around for a few heavy pieces that crush smaller pettis.

watch as "but go off" gets integrated into cgl lingo. it's less forced than calling people walnuts too

We all know how to use the wayback machine anon, it's just that no one cares about it anymore except for a selected few.

We do yes, but newbies nowadays don't, hence why I wanna upload important pages to a website I can advertise on my social media. You wouldn't believe how many lolitas these days don't even know where the fashion originated from. I'm desperately trying to help fix that.

Sure thing! From the very top to the lace it’s 89 cm. For the skirt its 59 cm. I’m 5’5 and it was a bit shorter than most dresses

The smaller daily 8M poof petticoats from Aurora & Ariel aren't bad, but not enough poof for many of my dresses. I'm thinking of trying out their 12M version.

I don't feel very qualified to judge fabric quality, but it's definitely a lot thinner & more lightweight than than the original. And there's definitely a shininess to it, although it's not terribly strong. I don't think I have any other polyester AP dresses (besides 1 chiffon piece) so I can't really compare it to those.

I do have the 12M one and I love it!
It is poofy enough that I don’t have to layer it which is what I was looking for.
Not too OTT on its own, but certainly enough for everyday wear.

I also have a 60cm Aurora & Ariel one for my longer dresses. It’s the mid-poof one, so not the Mini or the super puffy one. It’s great for my longer MmM dress that’s not made for a big petticoat.

Website archiving anon again

Gonna specify some things:
-Yes I do know lolita resources that I will already be going through and archiving; however I'm a human being and I've been here since 2011 there are obviously going to be at least a few I've forgotten, or wouldn't think to be important unless someone else thought to mention it

-Most lolitas don't even understand what I mean when I refer to LJ, often asking what it is, much less do they know how to use it, so how would they be able to go through and find these resources? Half the links are dead anyways so it's largely useless at this point.

-How would any lolita who joined after 2014 or 2015 even KNOW about these resources when some of them closed down and stopped working even prior to that. How will they know to use the Wayback Machine for something they don't even know exists? They might not even know what the Wayback Machine IS.

-There is NO guarantee the Wayback Machine will be around forever. It's nearly 2020 and look at how many websites and website hosts have closed down since 2009. Wayback has a far smaller userbase than Wikipedia, and when WIKIPEDIA has to put giant annoying popups on every page begging for handouts just to keep afloat there is no guarantee that Wayback will be able to accomplish the same.

THOSE are the reasons I'd like to try and back up the most important things to keep them all together in one place that is easily accessible with working links that direct users to pages within the website rather than relying on external sites which might not always be around.

So please if anyone has any additional websites they want pages or sections backed up from please let me know. I might already have it on my list but it can't hurt for you to mention it just in case.

Ayrt, I would have gone with mint kidney but she put a message out saying she wasn’t going to do it, then later retracted and started accepting orders but by that time I was already booked in with Tenshi. I’m not trying to trash talk Tenshi, though. I’ve used her a couple times and she’s always been nice. Everyone has a right to take a holiday, I’m just disappointed I’ll be getting it late but if that’s the worst thing in my life I’ll live. I waited this long, another month won’t kill me

I wouldn’t have planned vacation until everyone got their orders. They just arrived and she just went on vacation?
