i respectfully disagree, i've been in lolita since about 2005 and it is tiring to see the brands recycle the same motifs and themes again and again and again. indie brands are pretty good about taking print "risks" and so are taobao brands; their execution is often lacking, especially with taobao, so i don't own a lot of it, but it is fun and exciting to see releases from those brands. whereas from major brands it's like oh another carousel. another parfait. another alice in wonderland reference.

the turning point imo would be that if people started saying other *lolitas* were boring and that they didn't want to dress like them
