YSL has one but its mega expensive lmao

or you could use gold cream eyeliner (like in a pot) and swipe a clean mascara wand on it to put it on your lashes

i've done it before w/ colorful nyx eyeliner pots and it looks p good, doesn't last long tho

If you have clear mascara or mascara primer, you can pretty much mix it with eyeshadow to get the colour you want. It's a bit tough to get light colours to show on dark lashes though. For lighter colours, you can consider buying white false eyelashes and then colouring those with the primer/shadow combo.

I've started taking care of my skin about a year ago. So far my routine is:

Foam wash
Toner
Essence
Eye cream
(Evening) Sheet mask
Moisturizer
(Morning) Sunscreen
(Evening) Sleeping mask

I rarely use makeup nowdays because it's so friggin hot and my skin looks way better than it used to on its own.

I was wondering, should I start adding anything extra? Vitamins, ampoules, etc? I am 25, and my only remaining concern is some excess oil later in the day. Should I bother?

If you're looking to prevent future aging, then now is a good time to start incorporating Vitamin C, retinol, and other antioxidants. Not all at once of course, but if you're looking to enhance your routine, that's where you should start looking towards.
Otherwise, your routine looks pretty great! In the end the best skincare product is commitment, making sure you do your routine daily and keeping your skin hydrated is what's going to make the biggest difference (aside from sun protection, lol. Nothing beats sun protection.)

idk if this is the right thread to ask in but i'm really desperate.
recently i've let my depression get the better of me and my skin quality has gotten very bad.
i've got quite a bit of acne and i feel like my face is a little dry.
i've recently started to drink more water because i hear that helps with skin quality.
do you guys have any recommendations for ways to repair the skin?
like lotions or a routine i could follow.
i'm a bit of a poorfag and i'm also from the u.s. if that helps at all.
i'd like the name of brands if that's ok

>> No.10234977

>>10234962
The only thing that helped completely clear my depression-induced acne was introducing actives into my routine. I started with The Ordinary retinol, then the CosRX AHA (can’t handle BHA, but check it out if you’re not sensitive and salicylic acid works for you) and finally the Rohto Vitamin C to finish off the PIH. This took me nearly a year, but my skin is looking so much better now and I barely ever get any breakouts. Definitely research the ingredients and proper application before buying, start slow and stay consistent. I know it’s hard, but you can do it! All products are fairly budget friendly and readily available online afaik.

Samefag, forgot to add - always moisturize well! Even if your skin is oily or acne-prone, it will only improve from a well formulated moisturizer. If you don’t have one for some reason, try to look for something simple with non-comedogenic ingredients and no added fragrance, as those could exacerbate the issues.

In addition to water, try cutting down on dairy and sugar. As for products, I use benzoyl peroxide. Start with a lower concentration and raise it if something low like 2.5 or 5% doesnt work that well. I have to use 10%. Its cheap on Amazon, I buy a generic brand that's like $10 for 3 tubes and it works pretty well. It dries up your skin though so keep it off of dry parts of your face and only put it on greasy parts and pimples.

How do you know the products did it if it took a year?

>> No.10235115

>>10235096
It took me a year only because I took way longer than people normally do when introducing these products to their skincare routine, since I have eczema prone sensitive skin and was careful not to cause a flareup. The changes were the same as what other people experience when they use these actives, my skin went through the purging and desensitizing period and nothing else in my life or routine changed within that time frame. It’s not that hard to tell what works when you know your skin and pay attention. Plus it takes at least 6 months to a year of continued use for actives to show any visible results.

I hope you're feeling better OP, I relate to this a lot. Especially since i out so much self worth on the quality of my skin that it sucks when it gets bad. Here's some tips I have:

1) No matter what, try to keep a cleanser and moisturizer in an area where you're likely to use it. If your bedroom is far away from your room, keep it in your bathroom so you arent able to tell yourself "oh my stuff is so far away I dont feel like it". If your depression is so bad one day you can barely make it out of bed, I HIGHLY recommend getting a micellar water (I love Cerave's micellar water for this) and some cotton pads next to your bed so you can just rinse your face and keep dirt and grime away until you feel like really washing your face again.

2) Have a short routine in addition to a full routine. On days where you feel good, use your actives, multiple creams etc but on days where you barely feel like washing try your best to at least cleanse your face and maybe moisturize. Keeping up ANY sort of routine helps keep acne away.

For the acne I highly recommend investing in Differin, it's the only over the counter retinol that's certified to work for acne. Get a small tube to see how your skin reacts and if it reacts well, get the $30 tube bc it's a much better deal. The only things you NEED in your routine are a non drying cleanser, a good moisturizer, and an SPF. I recommend CeraVe for everything but the off brand versions (specifically CVS brand) are usually just as good desu. Anything gentle is good! If you could tell me a bit more about your skin (dry or oily, problem areas etc) I can give better recommendations but hope this helps!

i looked into some of the things you all have mention, and i think i get it for the most part but if i'm being completely honest it's also a little confusing. i never realized it but skin care seems like some kind of magical science!

i put together a picture of stuff i think i should be getting? if this doesn't seem good, i'd like some input!
for the moisturizer i'm not sure which would be the best to get, i'm thinking the ordinary would be the better purchase? it's just that neutrogena is a bit more easy to buy.

i have some questions about face wash as well, i use clean and clear morning burst and night relaxing but i don't think it actually does me any good. i still feel like my skin is still a mess when i use it. is there any recommendations for a better face wash?

and i'll look in to differin as well!!
my skin is very oily but dry at the same time. its often flakey and itchy around the nose and forehead areas.
though i break out around my cheekbone area more than anywhere else. i get really bad white heads there.
black heads are most often on my nose.
when i wash my face it seems like my skin gets a million times greasier than it was before as well.
it really bugs me because i hate having such a weird shiny nose.

Clean and clear may be dehydrating your skin. Their cleansers can be more stripping and that makes you produce more oil + dries out your skin, which is the exact symptom you are describing - dehydrated oily skin. So what you need to do is NOT get rid of the oil and moisturize so your skin isn't losing all its oils which will lead to decreased oil production overall and less skin freakout. Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser and Cerave hydrating cleanser are generally considered better and are at a more skin-friendly pH, they don't make you "squeaky clean" like clean and clear does but that also means it's not completely fucking your skin barrier up. Don't use the ones for oily skin.
Since you're pretty much starting from scratch I would recommend just starting with either the above mentioned Cetaphil or Cerave cleanser and a moisturizer plus spot treatment. Cerave PM has niacinamide in it and it makes it easier if you want to buy online. Then use Differin to spot treat acne.

I don't think you'll get away with posting titties.

To answer your question, all i know that it is advised for people with acne to focus on using foundation/ concealer specifically on blemished areas, rather than caking it on to create a more natural look. You need to look for foundation/concealor that specifically states it is non-comedogenic if you want to play it safe.

In my experience, acne caused by applying makeup usually happens at the removal stage, either from using awful make-up removal wipes or scrubbing so hard, so use a makeup removal oil instead.

Agreeing with >>10235595 that your skin is dehydrated which is why you have extreme oily and dry skin symptoms. DITCH THE CLEAN AND CLEAR ASAP!! Clean and Clear is trash. I would look into CeraVe, Cetaphil, Aquation, Zapzyt, Differin or any of the off brand versions of these if you need to save a little more money. These brands are formulated to be more gentle - I personally swear by CeraVe and it's worth the money (lasts forever too). Please remember to add in a good SPF in the morning if you decide to use Differin. Sun exposure will make your skin worse on Differin if you're not using SPF since it's an intense product. Also do NOT use anything with Salicyclic Acid as an active ingredient at night when you use your Differin because the two ingredients don't mesh. Use Benzoyl Peroxide at night to spot treat after Differin. You can use Melano CC in the morning (or any other Vitamin C) as it works well under SPF.

My routine for you would look something like this:
MORNING: 1) Salicylic Acne Wash(or regular cleanser, I like ZapZyt Acne Wash and CeraVe Foaming Cleanser)
2) Melano CC or other vitamin c
3) Optional: Mositurizing Toner (I like Kikumasamune and HadaLabo)
4) Moisturizer (highly recommend CeraVe Mositurizing Cream or PM Lotion)
5) SPF (highly recommend CeraVe AM or Canmake Mermaid Gel)

NIGHT: 1) Remove makeup (if wearing) with a cleansing oil or cold cream (recommend Hada Labo Cleansing Oil or Ponds)
2) Regular Cleanser
3) Differin
4) Optional: Hydrating Toner
5) Moisturizing Cream
6) Benzoyl Peroxide Spot Treatment (nothing more than 5%)

These are just my recommendations - start reading ingredients and make sure nothing has added fragrance (or hopefully very little) and other beneficial ingredients like ceramides, niacinamide, glycerin etc. COSDNA is a really good source to plug in products or ingredients to tell you if something is likely to cause acne. Hope this helps again!

What are some recommended make up stuff I can pick up at most supermarkets that aren't complete garbage but don't break the bank?

Not makeup really but I have perma dry waves all with the frizz and I was thinking about doing a keratin treatment (with help) and then keep up on oil treatments with more keratin as needed.
Any advice or product recommendations for doing this? My hair is currently chemical/dye free but I'm tired of looking like I'm touching a plasma ball 24/7.

I have tried MANY different actives. BHAs, AHAs, Vitamin C, peels, benzoyl peroxide. I once had to take oral antibiotics, which helped clear up the cystic acne. But I was stuck with regular acne for years afterwards, even on birth control and cutting out dairy.

The ONLY thing that has helped clear the acne has been azelaic acid. I use the one from Garden of Wisdom, it's 10% strength, but I think in the US you can only get 8%. It's helping with general redness as well. Just don't forget to use moisturiser and sunscreen and to cleanse properly.

I'm really not very knowledgeable when it comes to skincare and I could use some help.
I'm 35, and due to extreme weight loss my skin isn't looking at it's best.
I'm starting to notice things like nasolabial fold is becoming more noticeable and overall loss of elasticity/plumpness + large pores & sebaceous filaments.
The the ordinary products I bought recently actually seem to be doing something (unlike the many other products I tried) so I want more of their products and I'm looking for the best routine.
I wash my face 2x a day, then apply the ordinary niacinamide 10% with zinc, buffet, hyaluronic acid, purito green level buffet serum and a'pieu madecassocide suncream spf39 in the morning and at night I remove my make-up, wash my face and apply buffet + granactive retinoid % in squaline.
I also use clinique all about eyes.
Should I get a cleanser from the Ordinary and other products, stop using the Korean ones?
Is AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution a good idea? Any tweaks?
Thanks in advance!

I swear by Clinique Even Better foundation. I use 0.75 Custard.
They have a large colour range going from very pale to very dark, in warm/cool/neutrals and the texture is very natural looking and the coverage is build-able.

>> No.10243960

>>10243944
Clinique has one of the shortest shade range. I'm not even all that pale, and I'm too pale for it. Same thing for their dark shades, they're not dark enough.
But, I agree that their foundations have a really nice texture and light coverage. They're ideal for neutral/pink tones.

>>10243919
I used to use Missha's bb compact, but I got too light for 21 that they sell. The 13 matches me, so I've just stuck to that.

>>10243940
I would recommend a resurfacing mask which is AHA and BHA. I have a lot of sebaceous filaments around my nose and my cheeks get clogged pores, and the masks I use help a lot.
Just remember to be gentle with your skin afterwards, and wear sunscreen. I don't recommend washing your face twice a day, but that's up to you.
Since you're 35, those lines are normal and natural. It's just part of aging, and unless you're willing to get fillers, there's not much you can do. In addition, clinique is a good brand for people in their teens and 20s. You're at an age, where if you want noticeable changes from your skincare, you're going to have to move onto skincare brands that are for anti aging.
Weight loss fucks up everyone's skin, so take a good multivitamin, and you'll probably see slight results in as few as a month.

I spent a long time going through the wrong products for my skin until I came across Bare Minerals and pleaded with one of the girls working the stand to help me.
Prior to that everything looked disgusting on me - Everything was either dry and cakey or I'd been 'helped' by other reps by being recommended the wrong shade for my skin. Every single one had been giving me foundation recommended for yellow undertones when I'm more of a pink, so my partner got some free foundation which works perfectly for him (more guys need to use make up for cosplay. It does wonders, I swear).

Anyway I use the complexion rescue tinted hydrating gel cream (opal 01) as a base and then I use the bare minerals matte foundation (Fair 01).
The foundation is more like a powder that you tap into a lid, swirl around on a brush and then buff into your face and I didn't produce a single flake of dry skin. I think the gel cream helps to hydrate your skin a little more and gives the foundation something to hold onto so you don't get cracking and it still looks great after a day at a con while looking natural.

I also really love their concealer, a little goes a long way and I love the coverage.

-Any foam face wash while in the shower
-Mario Badescu toner (any one, mosty cucumber)
-Avene creme peaux intolerantes
-fps cream +50
-lip balm
3 times a week
-Oily makeup remover

-Oily makeup remover
-Face scrub (sometimes Berry AHa or Honey Black sugar)

I’ve liked the Pacifica Pineapple Serum Moisturizer for twice daily, but I was recently diagnosed with perioral dermatitis and only can use Cetaphil daily moisturizer. Try a less dry powder to set over your oilier spots. There's pressed powders with hyaluronic acid in them.
Sheet masks always leave product after being removed, that's normal. If it makes you look shiny, then use then at night so my morning it has absorbed better.
Also sheet masks != moisturizer. Moisturizers are for everyday usage, while face masks are not.
Exfoliate to get rid of skin flakes. Chemical exfoliation is better than physical exfoliation, but you might have to rub some dead skin off after exfoliating masks initially.

to the dry lip anon and others, definitely ditch most commercial lip balms. Anything with mint, menthol, essential oils, etc will just dry you out longer. The anons that suggested Vaseline are on the right track but I find Aquaphor is nicer as it's water based not oil based, so doesn't cause me other skin issues like acne around lips/chin area.

I started using Aquaphor on my lips while on accutane and it was the only thing that kept the peeling under control, I've stuck with it ever since though I don't need to reapply it as often. Also good for when you need to quick fix extra dry skin; it'll feel oily for a while but in winter I use it on my hands to keep the knuckle skin from cracking with the dry air. When I notice it getting bad I'll put a thick layer on before bed then some gloves to keep it from getting on things and it stops my skin from self destructing.

I bought it cause it was so cheap. It has a really strong smell that doesn't always wear off during the day. It blends in nice but is not fully translucent. It makes my skin look a shade lighter if I am not careful. It is thicker than some nicer powders which is something you have to learn to work with but isn't that bad. It can lead to me looking powdery sometimes but I also have really dry skin.
Overall it isn't as nice as a really high end one, but for the price it is good. If you are on a budget it is a great option and they are so huge they last forever. I just wish they would make an unscented version.

I have an oil slick face. I have oily/dry sensitive skin with some rosacea and constant white head and sebaceous filaments on my nose. My nose does flake and peel. I have lots of good skin stuff going on. I can’t keep makeup on at all, it’s gone within 15 minutes (I have the setting spray and spray before and after foundation.)
I’ve gotten really lazy and have depression breakdown fuck it’s. When I did it was a simple face wash and moisturizer and I don’t think it’ll be enough.
I want better skin that I don’t feel so embarrassed about it. I also have chest/bacne, keratosis pilaris on chest and arms, bright red, looks like a rash and spreading. I feel hopeless about all of it. Getting a referral to dermatologist this week who hopefully gives a shit, last time was awful. Anything you share I’d appreciate it.

Hi anon, I was wondering if you could give me an idea of the products/routine you are currently using? Or what you were using most recently.

I understand how it feels to not be able to take care of yourself very well because of depression. But I find that being able to stick with just a simple face wash/moisturizer/sunscreen routine is better than absolutely nothing when you don't have the energy for anything else.

A dermatologist can probably give you much more help than we can. Just make sure to write down your concerns beforehand so that the derm can give you the best advice possible.

Good luck anon <3

You may want to ask your dermatologist if they have any suggestions for products that won't irritate your skin, or make things worse. Sometimes added fragrances or other irritants can end up causing your skin more problems in the long run.

https://www.skincarisma.com/ingredient-analyzer is a great way to check and see what is really in the products you're using.

Vanicream, Simple, Cerave, and Neutrogena are affordable brands with many decent products.

Whoops sorry. I definitely worded that poorly, I meant to say Aquaphor is considerably more water SOLUBLE not water BASED is what i meant to say. It contains glycerin, so your skin will actually absorb extra moisture unlike vaseline (which just sits on top of the skin--its great as a barrier, but won't actually provide any extra hydration). Aquaphor is only 41% petrolatum vs vaselines 100% so for me at least also causes less clogged pore issues, though I'm sparing or avoid putting it in breakout zones (or just thorough about cleaning my face afterwards, i've used it on face sunburn to prevent it from getting to the peeling stage in some dire situations). The lanolin in aquaphor also adds to the moisturizing aspect.

Your hair looks similar to how mine was a few months ago before I figured out what it needed

I use Herbal Essences Hello Hydration shampoo and conditioner, sometimes I'll even use Kind Natured shampoo and conditioner which has no parabens or nasties in it just to give my hair a break. I also alternate on extras.

The night before I plan to wash my hair I'll put argan oil on my hair and sleep with it in a braid, and if I don't do that I use a hair mask (I love the Aussie one because it smells great and you dont have to leave it in forever) to give it a little more TLC.
They last a while but another thing you can do if you're strapped for cash is make your own, there's lots of tutorials on youtube and they're usually made from things you have in the kitchen most of the time anyway.

I'm not sure about how you treat your hair otherwise so I'll just give you the same info I'd give anyone else:
Avoid brushing your hair when wet, getting a detangler to spray into your hair when its wet will help when you need to eventually tame it.
When you brush your hair go from the bottom to the top
If you can, try to get a wide tooth comb
Use protective hairstyles when you can (when asleep and in windy weather or when you exercise are good times to do this)
Remember to keep your ends moisturised and trimmed.
Try to avoid heat if you can.

Hope this helps a little. Even though you're stressed try to find time to decompress and eat well. Use the time to do your hair to pamper yourself a little.

The rest have either been too washed out or too garish against my face. Even trying samples hasn't helped, and I'm rarely at a place with a makeup counter to do so anyway. I would recommend doing the following things:
>Figure out your skin type and undertones.
>Find a foundation and concealer that you like that suit you based on skin type and undertones.
>Figure out how you want to set your makeup. (finishing powder, setting spray, etc.) This prevents your makeup from coming off throughout the day.
>Pick out a makeup remover. This could be wipes, oil cleansers, etc.
>Pick up basic makeup application tools like a good set of brushes and a Beauty Blender.
>Start simple and work your way into more makeup products and more complicated looks. Start just with the very basics (foundation, concealer, brows, lips). You won't be able to do beauty Youtuber level makeup looks right off the bat.
>Once you work your way through the basics, then start trying different things out.

Tbh makeup is a LOT of trial and error. It takes time to figure out how to achieve the makeup look you want, what products work for you, etc. Tutorials can help, but you can't rely on them for everything.

I'm really tired of YouTube makeup as well for the reasons you stated. 10 shades for everything, oh and you need specific primer, setting spray, expensive brushes... No.
What finally got me to stop hating eyeshadow (I was at the point I wanted to get rid of all mine) was just ignoring YouTube and starting with single shades, maybe some shimmer on top, and went from there just playing with the looks myself instead of trying to follow tutorials.
It might not look perfect but so what? 9 out of 10 times I see any other women wearing makeup it's not this YouTube 50 shades for a basic look crap. They just throw on a shade and go.
Ignoring YouTube made it actually fun again and I learned a lot more.

is there any real point to powdering your foundation? when I used to use powder, my skin always looked dry and cakey and it would still crease. without it, it looks more natural imo but I don't get why it's a thing

Probably to "set" it so it is more long-lasting or to combat oiliness? It's an outdated technique if you ask me, there are different products now like setting spray or long-lasting foundation. I tried a clear setting powder that promises to "blur" pores but it looked heavy, caked and yuck even though my foundation usually looks pretty natural.

Kind of what >>10277650 said. In hot climates, I get oily as fuck so I use powder quite a bit, but in dry settings I never use it. Youtube kind of fucks you over in making you believe you need 9 different products for skin when really you can just use 1-2.

It depends on how well you've moisturized your skin already, the powder type, and what you're setting.
I set concealer under my eyes with a hydrating powder because if I don't the oil and pigment separate. It happens when you have dry skin. It's not a good idea to use setting spray around your eyes. Nor do I use it in general.

For what specific makeup? My favourite drugstore foundations are from Maybelline (they have a huge range, are always on special and I can always find a colour that suits my skin) and for slightly fancier, Laneige BB cushions. Lipstick-wise colourpop is super cheap and carries most colours to start you off, but I prefer the liquid lipstick formula from Black Moon Cosmetics. Eyeshadow I also use colourpop's palettes and Urban Decay for my neutrals.

Natural ginger here, about the same shade as the color you've got going on rn. I'll say it: brown/blonde mascara and eyebrows are your friend! Black will make you look weird.

Pinks, reds, and browns are good, just make sure the tones don't clash with the warms in your hair and your skin tone (hard to tell from the pic you sent.) I find that bluish pinks (bubblegum pink, etc) really make me look odd so I go for more natural, warmish tones, but that's just me. In place of winged eyeliner, try using other methods to make your eyes pop like using lighter tones around your eyes/covering up bags. You can also play around with brown eyeliner but that tends to be hit or miss.

I'll let you know if/when something changes. I have pretty neutral/decent skin to start (oily but only break out around periods) though so if you're very dry or have problem areas it may benefit you to try some of their stuff as an extra if you don't use serums yet or aren't satisfied with your current ones.

Yes,accutane is best. It might be because the high dose protocol is shown to have mood side effects and it causes super sun sensitivity + horribly dry skim/mucous membranes, but a lower dose protocol (more commonly used in places with publicly funded health care) has less severe side effects in that respect, you just have to take it for longer.

If it's happening maybe the first 4-5 times and not afterwards, you're probably fine, but if it's happening literally every time, unfortunately strands coming out with pulling can indicate more hair loss than usual. Best thing to do would be to go to your doctor to get tested for possible causes, but the most likely answer would either be a causative agent like irritating shampoos, or sometimes it has no cause.

You could also try switching to a less irritating shampoo with no parabens or silicone. Best of luck anon, I was in your place as well and it's not fun.

I saw my dermatologist for hair loss concerns and she did a quadrant test where she split my hair into four sections and tugged. If a certain percentage of the hair gets pulled out just from that, it's probably abnormal hair loss. You shouldn't be losing >100 strands of hair a day though. For cystic acne pretty much anything else they tell you will help is a lie unless you're a girl with PCOS and you go on birth control + spironolactone (I couldn't have the combined pill which is the anti-acne one, and I don't have PCOS so my doctor thought it would just be better to go straight for accutane so I could come off it eventually).
Prior to that I'd tried 6-week courses of antibiotic, cutting out dairy, cutting out sugar, fresh pillow cases/towels/hair always off my face, doing everything (topical acids, prescription retinoids, moisturisers, clay masks etc), doing nothing, hard vs soft water... and my acne only got worse into my 20s, plus I kept getting deep back cysts. My face was very, very mild compared to most people that get accutane for facial acne but it was sensitive as shit to everything, including having bangs even if I washed then daily, sunscreens and all foundations I tried. Finally went on 12 months of low dose accutane - it wasn't a cure all and I still get acne but it's the sort that actually responds to all the stuff like salicylic acid, and I haven't had any cysts.

I feel you on the pain of sensitive skin due to acne and back cyst problems anon.

I had awful and extreme cystic and other acne despite proper diet and hygiene until around age 20 when I tried birth control to help skip my heavy periods. Then it suddenly lessened in intensity and I now only break out with normal zits near periods (only 4 yearly now) or if I eat anything with dairy or unhealthy.

Sometimes age or hormones really make a big difference. I had bad backne and had gotten a couple keloid scars from healed cysts on my back and that's when I started birth control before considering accutane.

Benzoyl peroxide as a topical also works wonders on cystic zits for me personally though it is drying and can leave a gray cast if you have tan or warm toned skin.

Sometimes I wonder if the hormonal or other changes birth control and accutane cause just nornalize whatever the fuck is wrong with acne prone bodies or if having lots of acne is normal and there are benefits we lose by trying to get rid of it.
