Don't tell them. Just do it and let the people who get kicked out whine away. Most of them don't even notice.

My comm has almost no gothic or classic lolitas and the few that do wear the style are fat enough that they can't fit into the jp brands of those substyles. I don't have anyone to talk to about Moi meme moitie or Mary Magdalene because the others will just shit on them for not being available in bigger size.
The other part of the comm are coslitas. They don't care about fashion outside of lolita and they dress like crap if they're not going to a meet. I'm not looking for uguu daily life style types but it would be nice to have friends who appreciate nice aesthetics outside of meets.

>> No.10105929

my comm's started planning some picnics for spring but the cons of living in the great frozen north is who knows when it will be warm enough for spring activities. my favorite comm members are college kids though and will be going home for the summer which is sad.

>> No.10105934

My comm has been pretty quiet lately. We haven't had a popular meet in months. We've only had a handful of smaller meets and a few that got canceled because of little interest.

>> No.10106116

>>10105927
I know your pain, anon. According to a poll my comm did classic is the second most popular substyle here, almost tied with sweet, yet I can count the number of people who own anything by VM, MM or JetJ (or for that matter, Moitie main pieces) on one hand. There’s some IW but mostly their sweeter prints. Many people in my comm seem to think that Baby and AP’s regular releases in brown, navy or wine are automatically classic. I’ve gotten used to the fact that whenever someone says they’ll be wearing classic to a meet, they’ll show up in an AP print or Baby rufflemonster with either a flower crown or a satellite dish bonnet.

>> No.10106121

There's an e-famous frilly in my comm and she's hosting a meet next week. I want to go but it's expensive and too short notice.

our comm is pretty quiet since my city isn't super large, so i'm planning on hosting tea parties when i move into my new house in spring to try to breathe some life back into it.
i was so happy when i moved here to find out there was a comm but i'm sad how inactive it is.
not to mention, the fact that its so small and quiet means the mods will virtually accept anyone even if they just have a vague interest or give off sissy vibes.

Different comm but people in mine reacted the same way. Mods were only wanting to get rid of dead accounts and people who joined years ago and forgot about it, so all they asked was that everyone like a pinned post within a month+ timeframe. They also bumped our introduction thread for people who felt like introducing themselves but made it explicitly clear that this wasn’t mandatory, and nobody would be removed for not introducing themselves.

People in the comments (most of whom I’d never seen before in my 5+ years in this comm) started crying about ‘elitism’, ‘secret clubs’ and ‘muh privacy’ as if the mods had demanded access to their home to personally evaluate their wardrobe or something. But literally all they had to do was like a post...

And now I don't know what to do of it. She never brought it up, never posts about it on her main social media either, only this one specific discord server i infiltrated.
It's hard to look the same at her now that i know she's into anthro/furry,futanari (or both at the same time like animal cocks on anthro girls),impreg, mindbreaking, petplay etc... and i wonder if i should out her for being a degenerate?

If she keeps it to herself, no, there's no need to out her. The only reason kinks are such a problem in the lolita community is because of people who display their degeneracy for everyone to see and insist on involving the community in it and/or mention it at any given opportunity, which is fucked up and anyone who does it should be shamed for it. I think it was just plain old salt. The comm was changing and had been for a while, people wanted the mods and the comm as a whole to be more social and approachable to which they were very resistant, and most of their original clique wasn’t into lolita anymore. I think they were just lashing out. It’s no more far fetched than saying people posted themselves and their friends to the ita thread to make the other side look bad.

Two of them were moderators till last year. One did minor moderating but the other did literally nothing. They got very upset when someone suggested cleaning up the comm page by removing ghost members because they weren't consulted. The issue of ghost members was a common thing discussed at meet ups but they never went. They were incredibly inactive so they were unaware of most comm issues. They threw a fit about it and asked all of their friends to join in on the conversation to defend them. These friends had to have been inactive for at least 7 years. After this they quit and most people didn't care because most of us had never met them anyway. It was clearly a status thing for them. They made the ita thread a few days after quitting.

i side eye a lot of my comm's ticketed meets. we used to only do ticketed meets for like teahouses to make reservations, or if we needed to reserve a venue, or if the host was bringing a lot of things on their own dime (food, clothing racks, etc). i also understand the need for ticketed meets if a comm is very large, or wants to provide a barrier for entry for sissies, underage folks, etc.

but lately it seems like we've seen a spike in ticketed meets and our comm doesn't have the latter issues, and many of the "ticketed meets" are "teehee let's meet at the park for photos and then wander around downtown to find a restaurant or a museum, tickets are $15" like wtf are people even paying for

I know lolita isn't just for photos but if you're there for a cohesive theme you kind of want cute themed pics.

I don’t know how your comm handles ticket reservations but if it’s done in a non-publicly visible way e.g. through email like in my comm, sneaky elitist hosts could easily pretend that the unwanted member’s reservation came too late or didn’t come through or whatever. I don't get why that small meet in Zeeland in 2017 on a weekday is a problem again. There is a yearly meet-up in Zeeland nowadays. And why is there drama about private meets again? There always were private meets, that's something going on for years. Not everyone wants to invite the whole community for a birthday meet or some small get to together. Especially when organizing something can be a lot of work, I've heard. There are difficulties with food issues like allergies or vegan options or restaurants/museums/other facilities are not able to receive big groups. Then again, there is a small group in this community who loves to complain about things and not doing anything about it.

Secondly there is always drama when old comm members meet up. For example the drama with the shiny shoes last week.

Honestly I think most ~drama~ that makes it to cgl is due to misunderstandings or social awkwardness that gets blown out of proportion and then propagated by people who weren’t there and don’t know what happened but are thirsty for drama, either out of boredom or personal vendetta. It’s pretty easy to make mountains out of molehills on anonymous platforms like cgl and btb.

I don’t think ILD meets should be themed and I think it is ok to ask some ‘theme coords only’ photos at themed meets in addition to the whole group photos. In a smaller comm, I think you need at least 3-4 people committed to the theme to make a themed meet work and to be prepared for quite a few people to pass on the meet if they don’t like the theme.

Themed meets can work if a large percent of the comm have coords that work with it. It’s easy if you put a broad theme in instead of a really specific one, eg using colours instead of just sweet/dessert prints (to cater for classic/gothic). People can still be creative and have nice coords and photos and won’t look like a jumbled mess when it’s a whole comm photo. Venue should also suit the theme/occasion.

There was a comm meet that was a ticketed event and yet again a splinter group decides to hold their own event at the same place on the same day. Guess we aren’t perfect enough ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you are an hour away in another town, there’s nothing wrong with starting a comm for your town, as long as you can plan and attend all the meets yourself at first, without exception, That’s what it takes for a good year or more, usually. I’d avoid planning meets on the same weekends as the existing comm for a while as well. But other than that, no reason not to, really. More and more people are attending the closest meets then traveling some to nearby comms as well so if you had a closer group maybe a few of you could carpool or travel together to the larger meets in good weather as well.

Quit pretending you are going to maybe someday come to a meet up. The older members already know they are full of crap and ignore them but a new girl doesn't. Now this girl has created an event page that they put effort into only to have four maybes. The reason other people aren't interested is usually because of the location or because it's and idea that sounds good to a beginner but is bad in practice like alpaca farms, ice skating, or tourist spots. I don't blame the new girls for suggesting these ideas. I am just completely done with flakes ruining their first experiences with organizing.

However I don't quite understand how people get a lot of nice and expensive items for raffles without donations. Also how do you budget the raffle? I haven't seen an ILD raffle where the prizes were donated. It depends on your comm, how big it is and how many people actually participate in the raffle. You can makeup for some of the costs with the raffle, but just know that usually large ILD parties are not "moneymaking," in fact you're guaranteed to end up paying out of pocket. Usually raffles and tickets don't fully cover the price of things like venue and food.

Then when the person actually tries to organize something nobody wants to come because nobody actually wants to jump on trampolines or hang out in crowded IKEA on a Sunday in lolita.
Occasionally when this happens some salty-chans try to spin it as our comm being too elitist to attend meetups organized by “nobodies”, but the real problem is that these newbies have no idea what makes a good lolita meetup and a bunch of dumbasses don’t think things through before hyping up the newbie’s impractical idea. Voldie's insta story said she was in the states for an mtg meet. Is she welcome at any us comms?

This gets said a lot, but you don't need to be a mod to host an event. Most mods appreciate when other members host them because it gives new ideas and places to go to. Mods don't have to host all the time, we don't have the time or energy.

If I remember correctly, mods did not book the tea party.

Ohayocon booked and arranged the tea party. It was a convention event and for some reason they didn't even advertise it and then wondered why there was no interest. I think they talked to the mods last minute before the con. Sounds like a con fuck-up to me.

I sat next to her at the tea!! We traded biscotti and I gave her something else off my plate too. There was another vegetarian girl sitting next to me who couldn't eat her tea sandwiches either. They literally didnt tell us the menu and the kitchen couldnt answer questions about what was in the food. The tea was the best part but totally not worth my $20. The food was super bland.

I’m not in Voldie’s comm, but the main problem with the IKEA meet was that they wanted to go during the weekend when the store is always insanely crowded and full of families with small children. It’s literally worse than the zoo, and even as a serious customer who only needs a flower pot or two you often get stuck in foot traffic. Maybe on a very quiet day it could be fun to take pictures among the model rooms but during the weekend it’s like an overstuffed theme park without the attractions. Well with one attraction, if you count the group of strangely-dressed girls who seem to be just hanging out and waiting to be photographed and climbed on by hyperactive kids...

Actually, I think mod M planned the tea party, I had enquired to her about non dairy options and she told me she'd have to check back with the Hyatt and never did. She posted about the tea party way late saying that she was just too busy. This is common behavior with M. >>10117770

I was afraid this was going to happen because M never got back to me about non dairy options. I'm glad I didn't go.

Haha oh wow. Yeah, even when I bought furniture at IKEA I didn't go during the weekend.
I feel the rooms aren't even that cute.

I'm pretty sure the convention center planned it, so they were in charge of what happened with the menu. No one had any say in it. You should have asked the con staff.

What part of "the con planned it" can you not get through your head? Stop playing the gd victim.

I don't care that the con planned it, I just think it's crappy that a mod couldn't be bothered to say 'we didn't hear back from them' and check in. >>10118235
I did ask con staff but they directed me to ask a moderator in the community since she was directly in contact with the restaurant.
