It stays stretched out unless you fix it because stretched out shirring can easily be replaced, that's why it's useful to learn how to mend your clothes.
I've bought otherwise fine pieces with stretched out shirring before and saved a bunch of money because of the damage. It takes 1 hour to replace the elastic and restore the piece to its original size, or the shoulder straps to their original length.

You say that, but I'm not sure many people would buy most lolita's sewing/alterations.

>> No.10689831 [View]

>>10689827
If tons of people buy the butchered AP dresses that fatties have altered I'm sure no one will have a problem buying a piece being sold that had some replaced elastic.

Plus if you tailor things to suit your body or look nicer and more fresh, why would you need to sell? Exceptions exist sure but buy clothes to last and keep. Especially in old school and lolita in general this should be the philosophy. Resale value arguments are silly to a degree. If you're considering resale value before making a decision about clothes it implies you either aren't spending wisely and might need to sell for money in an emergency or you don't like the item all that much.

Well, if I bother enough to fix my dresses I'm likely going to keep them forever. Idc if or how well they're gonna sell, what matters to me is that I get to wear it, it's /my/ clothes after all, even it's 2005 AP.

I genuinely don't see how anyone could have a problem with buying a piece where the elastic was replaced. If anything it'll fit better after, it's a bit like saying you won't buy a dress where someone sewed a button back on.

At some point you have to acknowledge that os pieces have a limited lifespan. If you limit yourself to not buying anything damaged or with amateur repairs, you might as well quit now. The clock is ticking.

>> No.10689963 [View]

>>10689802
I never understand this argument, by the time these pieces fall apart either more oldschool style brands will have appeared or they will be so overpriced secondhand it will be cheaper to get a custom piece made. You will be too old to wear lolita anyway so it won't affect you. Fatties involved or not (I don't even see almost any wearing oldschool to begin with they're all plaguing AP) clothes from 2002 won't last forever so you better take the copium now

The earlier teens, I found things for $15 - $40. That's how I built up my wardrobe, which is only like, 7 pieces. Never letting go.

Ah, the days when $22 shipping from Japan was considered expensive....

Yep. In the translated GLB's, it was sometimes referred to as "kodona," which was an incorrect translation but it helped with search terms at the time I remember. I was obsessed with that style at the time.

2008-2011. It was a pain though. Also the time somewhere around 2014 when WW, mercari and fril were just new and retarded gulls didn't spam it everywhere so everyone could buy everything up. I remember buying Hospitality Doll from mercari for 15k when it already was listed for months, just burried.
