Squid anon here. It's not that they look BAD, they just don't look like anything in particular. I think I get what the other anon was saying about the silhouette. Please excuse my shitty paint illustration.

I think you should first move the rose up so that the cape seems to be "resting" on the top of the rose. Right now there's just that empty space there and it looks very off. Next, fix up the silhouette so instead of two pieces (the cape and the ribbon tails), you get three pieces (the cape, the bow, and the ribbon tails) so it looks more like a cape at first glance and not, well, a squid or a mushroom.
