I used to be super messy when I was a kid and grew into a cleanlier person. Like the ugly ducking that grew up to become a beautiful swan, but with cleaning. I have a few tips that may or may not help:

>Get rid of shit to cut down on clutter.

I follow a rule that goes something like "if I haven't even looked at this in 2 years/6 months/etc then it needs to go and if I need it again I could probably buy a new one." It's worked nicely for me. I either donate it or throw it away depending on the condition the stuff is in. It also makes you feel good inside in a way, like a sense of accomplishment and freshness.

>Can't get rid of stuff, look for storage solutions.

Bins, boxes, shelves, whatever you need to keep it out of sight to make your room look nicer. I have a tendency to shove shit into drawers and forget about them so maaaaybe I'm not the #1 person to talk about this.

>Keep up with it.

Take some time to at least dust and vacuum every once in a great while, maybe once a week or so. I'd imagine this is for folks who don't necessarily have clutter but still can't seem to get up and straighten things out. Soon you may find yourself getting annoyed that things aren't neat if you make it into a habit.

Anyway, that's all I can think of. I hope someone finds this advice helpful, if not you.
