Of course there's different situations for different clothes, that goes for lolita as well. It's normal that you wouldn't wear an OTT lacemonster with a madonna crown to the grocery store, and that you might not wear a plain cutsew OP without accessories to a fancy tea party. But pic related for example is just as casual as any t-shirt/skirt outfit.
Formalwear doesn't have that kind of range and isn't a fashion on its own. Nobody says 'yea I wear cocktail dress fashion' because it's a type of garment and not a style. Lolita as a whole isn't meant for any specific type of situation in particular and can range from casual and comfy to over the top formal. Only wearing lolita to special occasions is like saying you're goth when you only ever dress gothy to dinner parties and you're in jeans and t-shirts anytime else.
Like sure, you can decide when you want to wear lolita and obviously not every situation is suitable for it, I wouldn't wear lolita when I'm going hiking or some shit either. But treating it like it's only meant for special occasions means you aren't treating it like an actual fashion.

>inb4 thread gets derailed into complaining about meetlitas/conlitas

I wear lolita daily but most of my coords would probably be nitpicked to hell here. If I need to be comfortable I'll combine lolita skirts with matching t-shirts or turtlenecks and I wear doc martens with my coords more often than I probably should. That's actually a big part of the reason I'm more into old school and gothic now, it's much easier to wear daily than classic which was my favourite style when I started out.

There's not much unfortunately. So take casual, gothic, and punk very lightly.

Just pretend the print on the cutsew is something edgier.

Posted this in another thread not long ago but gonna repost it here.

I love casual Lolita, because I'm usually not feeling well enough to go all out with the style. I'm hoping to get some inspo from this thread, the last one was mostly "not OTT" Lolita instead of casual.

I'm torn on my feelings, because I fully understand why she may have taken everything down and wanted to abandon the internet. I'm really private and timid type person and did the same thing, haven't made a new account anywhere since. But her works did mean so much to me, and I know it sounds stupid but it was like she could read my mind and speak directly to my heart. It's so sad to see them gone for good.

I'm sure she never regrets leaving and the freedom and relief she felt from it, but I wonder if she ever misses writing and inspiring others and wishes she could do it again.

Remember when casual Lolita looked like pic related? Ha ha ha, I still dress like this, not even ashamed, this will always be casual to me.
