Randomly scrolled by this thread since I consider cosplaying sometimes and then I remember why I don't.
Are cosplay communities really this fucking vain?

Its such a turn off for me going to cons or cosplaying because the prevalent amount of extremes. You're either a neckbeard or a pathetic attention whore.

Apparently "attractive" geekdom is supposed to be somehow "sexy" and "popular", the equivalent of being on varsity or something in the geek/otaku/nerd community. Obviously, not every person a part of geekdom is a hideous 250 pound neckbeard, but some of these stories are so pathetically "dumb bitch" or "couldn't be sexy in school but DEM NERDS AMIRITE?"

I'm hoping there's decent cosplayers out there who don't think geekdom is some kind of compensation for attention whoring or going full neckbeard.
