I agree with this kind of idea, but I'm somewhat afraid of it becoming a comic-fan purist type of event. There's reasons why comic-cons aren't as talked about on this board. It has a overwhelming nuance of mediocre cosplay.

Anime Bostons been trying to be anime only for years and it flops every time, not only because of the infamous lines but the general public that goes is very rude and snobbish due to the anime only setting.
The way conventions have been breaking that division of anime/comics has a lot more breathing room for people to find each other of similar interests while educating each other of their series' presence. When we have Gundam cosplayers getting drinks with Voltron cosplayers, more power to em. After years of Anime Boston, I enjoy the refreshing idea that nerds can be pals and respect each others passions.
