Ahh..

DragonCon is a shit show for highly sought after panels, everyone waits in lines together for hours lol.

Panels aren't really a focus for most people at DCon though. DragonCon isn't about getting to see exlusive X first.

Just a lot of open drinking/hanging out in common areas which may translate to room parties if you're so inclined/social enough.

Hotels are insanely expensive, but if you're willing to taxi in from a reasonable distance it's not bad.

As for food, are there not nearby places to eat at SDCC? I mean I guess you could say food at DCon can be pricey, but there are plenty of surrounding options that you can go to instead of getting the stuff at the convention itself.
