What styling products can I use for styling my wig without making it crunchy? I personally need a more realistic fluffy style, not a deep fried crunchy cartoony one.
I'm tired of washing and brushing my wig in its soft silky goodness only to make it dry and crunchy after styling

>how costly
depends on a lot of things like
>your country/region
>how much work you want to put in
>how complex is the character/cosplay
>how perfect do you want to be
Some people make gold out of hard work and cheap thrift materials.
Some people (even "professionals") invest all the money and it still turns out to be shit falling apart.
Some cheapskate and make it all shit, some invest wisely and do it beautifully.

>good tips for beginners
I'd say
>don't be afraid to trial and error
>practice makes perfect
>there are guides, but there is no one size fits all advice in general
>see what parts of cosplay you like the most and explore it (wigs, makeup/bodyart/sfx, props, sewing, armor, all-rounder, etc)

If you're that scared of sewing or can't get to a sewing machine
>buying premade cosplays (wisely) and learning to modify them your own way
>buying regular clothes and items and modifying them into your cosplay
>start with wearing a good wig and learning how to style and cut it, doing your makeup/sfx
You're probably going to want a sewing machine on your own naturally.

Most of all
>do this for yourself and your fav character.
>if it's not enjoyable it's really not worth it. don't sacrifice yourself and have fun, fucking nerd.
