Quilting cotton, especially with busy prints, is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to handmade lolita. Even seamstresses who otherwise seem to know what they’re doing will pick the ugliest most inappropriate fabrics and it just completely ruins whatever potential the piece may otherwise have had. I like Miss Carol Belle’s blog and videos and she often brings up how certain techniques can make the difference between a piece looking homemade vs. professional, but completely misses the fact that that her fabric choices absolutely scream “homemade” and no amount of lining or understitching can save them. I guarantee that whoever buys this is going to constantly get people asking them if they made it themselves.
