I'm a West Coast photographer who frequents all sorts of conventions. Sometimes I set-up and ask to take photos of anybody who looks like they are having fun, cool costumes, cute kids, etc. Other times I also do private shoots for fees. I base me fee to cover the cost of the convention and often don't book more than I need to.
Even though I don't overbook paid shoots, I make time for random cool cosplay that I like, or friends.

If I were to give advice on how to pick a good cosplay photographer, not knowing their style or portfolio, I would ask cosplayers that I know who have had great photos taken. It's going to be word of mouth more than anything.

I read through this whole thread and most of the suggestions are assumptions in how to find a decent photographer. You have to ask around or at the very least, ask a vocal/outgoing photographer. If they are proud of their work and feel confident in providing you with quality photography, they will be able to show you some of their work on their smartphone, or even off the back of their camera.

My next con will be SakuraCon in Seattle, Washington and I look forward to it. I'll be booking some private shoots, but look forward to photographing some of my talented friends.

I don't know, OP. I know a transman who just tried on his Link wig and he looks near perfect. That being said, he's been on hormones for almost 5 years and looks exactly like an attractive guy in his late teens/early twenties. No one in a million years could mistake him for being female.

Apart from that, I don't like girl Links so much. When I think of Link, I think of a sexy elf dude with muscly arms and a lot of strength. Girls just don't do him justice in that manner. A few might possibly look somewhat androgynous in the face if they really try, but you can still tell they're female and that throws off what Link is supposed to be, for me at least.

I sense there are a lot of girl Links and crossplayers ITT who are pissed someone disagrees with them. People are entitled to separate opinions, you know.

I'm actually okay with the legions of Yoko cosplayers. They piss me off a lot less than the slutty bikini genderbends that a lot of girls do. Yoko's bikini outfit is at least canon.

Same goes for all the Slave Leias and Power Girls.
