I'm making a maid costume using the pattern (view C on the right in pink). I'll be connecting the top and bottom to create a dress. I purchased Symphony Broadcloth per the pattern's suggestion and now I'm looking at fabric choices for the sleeve band, bow, and skirt detail. SO, the questions:
1) Would satin/something shiny look bad against the broadcloth?
2) Should I use more broadcloth in a contrasting color, a satin, or is there a better suggestion?
3) How do I avoid the 'cheap costume satin' look?
