it's not ironic, and it's not cute and youthful, and it's not fresh and new. i don't see it getting big any time soon - it doesn't reflect the cultural zeitgeist at the moment.

it's why shit like "pastel goth" and "strega" exists. temporary fads that get a surge while they are new (even though "strega" is not fucking new at all). people don't want to do something that's been done before, they want to feel part of something emergent, but without deviating too far from mainstream trends.
