>>Twitter Post: Oh man, guys I'm so not worthy. I mean, thanks so much, but really, I'm not that good. I really hope everyone can get in next year.

>>All the replies: OMG, NO YOU ARE AMAZING. Can I plllllease suck your super humble dick? Can that giant thing please choke me as I pay you $20 for your bootleg fan art of FOTM characters that I love?

My take on the topic of "Cosplay is for everyone / Cosplay should match your body type" It all seems pretty obvious to me, (and as a judge of Cosplay Contests in the past I've seen it in others too) but somehow people still bitch about it.

"If you want to dress up as your favorite characters and for a day enjoy the escapism of being not only someone who isn't yourself, but a character that you love, that's great! You do that, and I hope you have the time of your life. Because it's not about what other people see when they look at you, it's what you believe you are. No matter how you look. Black Sailor Moon? Heck yeah! Sailor Man? You da man! In a wheel chair? Roll over everyone else (and while your at it use it to your advantage to be characters others couldn't). It doesn't matter what you look like because it's something that your doing for you.

But.... If your going to compete, or have other people take your cosplay seriously, you should look like your character. This means having the same (or close enough) Body type to your character, (I believe) proper skin tone, knowing your characters mannerisms, as well as having a costume that's accurate to the character. When other people (including the judges) look at you, you want to make them believe the characters has stepped out of their world and into our own.

Personally I think cosplayers too often forget what the "play" in cosplay stands for, to which cosplay is the shortened term for "Costumed Role-play". And often I find cosplayers who have amazing costumes, and they look great in them, but then just stand around like a model, not showing us the actual character. But that's just me voicing a problem that I see."
