I heard through the grapevine that 2020 will be the last year at the Galleria. It's a combination of Galleria/Renaissance wanting more money, overcrowding, Suntrust Park, and the con overlapping with baseball season (although that wasn't an issue since they moved it to a month later, but last year the con happened literally during a Braves game). Venue wants more money because prices are raising everywhere in the area due to Suntrust existing, AWA doesn't want to pay for it, so they're gonna move to a new con center that I heard is being constructed right now. I think it'll be in Gwinnett county?

The Galleria is honestly a shitty venue though. Its only decent qualities being cheap parking, the larger panel rooms, and being close to a lot of food options. The place hasn't gotten an update in decades and it sorely needs it, especially in that food court area where the arcade always gets put. It's has practically no ventilation, so you're just stuck in a nasty, muggy, hot room with a bunch of people that reek.

The GWCC is expensive as hell, but you get what you pay for at least. I'm willing to shill out some more money for a place like that, meanwhile AWA thinks they can justify a $75 ticket on a place like the Galleria. Hopefully when AWA moves, they'll be wise in choosing what venue they go to next. I think it'll be a nice change of pace.
