I love the idea of doing a corseted back and hiding the structure between the laces/ribbons!! That's brilliant!

If I were to get ambitious but rubbish with it, I wonder if you could even use corset style boning along the back and use that for added support...

And if that doesn't work, doing a nice arrangement of flowers to hide the joining wings like you did with your princess tutu wings might work.

Just to add to the thread, I thought Cupcake Cosplay did a pretty good job with those sleeves that make about as much sense to pattern as an Escher drawing.
