am i the only one weirded out by this thread getting traction when the tweet they're bitching about is just "zines are expensive, don't start them if you don't have cash"?

like yeah zines used to mean cheapo saddlestitched books with comics or sketches, but most zines these days are full-coolor illustrations? i don't get the point of encouraging the idea that zines are cheap to make when you're referring to a definition of "zine" that isn't as mainstream these days and intentionally giving people the wrong idea because you're pedantic

i'm just sick of people who try to push that merch is easy to make because you get organizers who don't understand anything they're doing. it's put me off from applying from zines entirely.
