Hey /cgl/, I need some advice. I'm not happy with my final headdress for my costume. I'm gonna remake it instead of salvaging this one, but I could use some direction on how to make it better. The red pen marks heat erase btw, I just couldn't be assed to remove them since I hated the final product. The issues I noticed are:
>the ribbon
I didn't want to cut it into strips, but I couldn't get it to lay right and look good when folding for the life of me. The ends ended up fraying and needed to be sealed with a lighter. I just don't like how this looked at all. Should I even still keep the ribbon or use paint instead? I tested a swatch of my fabric with a satin stitch and it just ate up the delicate fabric, so that's out.
>The sewing
This part I really have difficulty on. I struggle with sharp corners even after reducing the seam allowance and clipping into the seams. I just hate how the peaks turned out. I couldn't sew down the ribbon either because my machine went too fast and the ribbon slipped around. I had to hand sew it, but desu I don't like the way it looked either.
>Stiffness
I was very indecisive on how to stiffen the floppy white cotton. I have featherweight iron on and very stiff cardstock-esque sew-in interfacing (which I could just stuff in I suppose), batting, and stuffing. What do you think would work best?

There's probably more issues I'm not seeing like with the pattern too. So, what can I do to improve the next iteration that I make, gulls?
