Agreed! I did something similar with a work friend recently. My friend read part of it and started and basically skipped a lot of stuff saying "I will just take the parts I like". What ended up happening was she got stuck because she spent all her time trying to get her boyfriend to throw out all his exessive socks and t-shirts. She barely got rid of anything of her own and said "well I don't have much stuff to begin with so the only problem is his stuff". When I tried to nicely say that she should focus on her stuff and see what happens with his she got kind of mean about how I was able to get rid of a lot because I had more crap to begin with. It really isn't important how much you get rid of and I wasn't trying to imply that.
Which to be fair could be true, but it is weird how defensive and borderline mean people can be about their stuff.

Didn't anon literally say that they also buy official merch though? Damn anon I know you've got some serious autism going on but you can actually read their post first, people get so anal about 'being the biggest fan' that they forget why the like particular series they're into to begin with.

Feels like this place is more obsessed with drama than the actual hobby as of late.
