Here is a third phase of a male ita: Doing something wrong and trying to convince themselves and others that what they are doing is ok and their endeavors will indeed secure them a mate. This haughty attitude and cover up of their blatant disregard of knowledge on the subject is a way to give themselves courage to continue their pursuit for a gf despite their lack of resources and proper plumage and may convince other male itas that they have an advantage over them and the other itas should stop trying. This in their mind makes them stand out to females so there is less competition and gives them better chances to secure a mate. Notice the strong steadfast post on the internet trying to get people to agree with him that he does indeed blend in with the rest of the alpha males and his choice of plumage is indeed accepted by the local community..... Fascinating creatures......
