>first year of high school, move to new town
>join manga club at library
>just three other members, all cool and tasteful
>librarian who runs it is chill as hell, introduces me to Tekkonkinkreet and Mushishi
>club meets once a month, usually has games and prizes like Japanese candy
>go for a few months, have a fantastic time
>make new best friend at school, much nerdier than I am but a really sweet person
>bring them along to a meeting
>acts abnormally immature and weebish
>brings the atmosphere down
>some awful nerds from their friend group end up joining in
>suddenly the meetings are loud and full of memey weeaboo bastards who talk over the screenings
>librarian transfers libraries shortly after, I'm sure for unrelated reasons but I could tell he wasn't huge on the new manga club crowd anyway
>original members either quit coming or go off to college
>high school's anime club is 5 times larger and the anime is always total shit
>manga club is forever tainted because I disrupted the secrecy and social balance

I just want something like those first few meetings again. It's been years and I've never had anything like it since...
