This is the real reason. Vitalik and ETH devs thought crypto would be its own ecosystem which would replace legacy finance. It's clear by now that's not happening (at least not anytime soon). Chainlink is exactly what connects legacy to blockchain and gives the traditional gatekeepers the upper hand again.
If Vitalik wasn't autistic, he would realize this is the only way forward. If (((they))) don't get their piece of the pie, crypto isn't going anywhere.
