Reputation farming is when you create fake orders to your own data source to farm reputation for your own nodes. Even if it's not possible to select your own nodes (eg. by specific a source only they accept) if you control the data source you can select by ip.
This kills the idea of one reputation value per node - at best a node could have distinct reputations per data source.

During upcoming bullrun we will do 200x and all these LINK bagholders will be happy sitting with 5x posting 1000 EOY all over the internet shilling and upvoting every reddit post so normies will pump them. LOL.

Probably reputation will be scaled by the value of the smartcontract and the fees it brings with it so it would be really expensive to farm Reputation
But i dunno lol

They already stated that reputation wouldn't be standardized for jobs. There can be diminishing returns for repeat jobs, contracts that only influence the reputation in regards to the contract in question, and groups of contracts that have a shared reputation pool.

Wouldn’t people be paying money to gain more rep? Rep farming may not be a bad thing because couldn’t it potentially mean some dude spent tons of money to ensure he is reputable?

I'm just going to borrow this thread... I'm trying to understand exactly what is required to run a node, I've checked the docs for running nodes etc.
What I'm not 100% sure about is if that is all, or do I need to write adapters for jobs my node can handle, or is all that done on the contract side?
Is starting the node all that is required? The nodes will automatically take jobs?

How many newfags are here? This was figured out by some redditor months ago and forced chainlink to change the model.
It convinced me of their incompetence and I bailed out.

No you will have to connect your node to paid data feeds. The monetisation of the entire API call/oracle/SC ecosystem has to develop.
To the absolute fucktards of /biz/ this is bad news because they're too ADHD to wait past tomorrow, to anyone else it's just a necessary step to the global revolution that is occurring.

All part of the plan to downplay Links importance to Eth. Convinced these guys are in this together, and rest assured, Links focus is getting functional on Eth... Along with supporting SWIFT... Before all else.

I find that statement so baffling. Like, $32 million is next to nothing in business. Why would Vitalik think that connecting blockchains to outside data would be worth pennies? I would love to hear him elaborate on what he actually meant here.

Its hard to argue oracles are worth 32 million because they're actually worth at least 100 billion. Anything less is an insult and a joke.

>> No.9972017

>>9971805
He specified 32 million because thats the amount chainlink raised in the ico. Hes just saying that oracles are inportant but he's not giving a buy signal because he's bad at valuating companies. He said Ethereum was overvalued at 7 dollars.

1. If your use a shitty unknown data source for data no one gives a shit about your not going to be earning good reputation. And who the fuck cares with whatever your doing?

2. You're going to be wasting I don't know hundreds of thousands in ETH gas fees to garner reputation for only your own specific data. Sure go ahead I guess?

3. Even if by some miracle you somehow "farmed" enough rep for useful data. (It's in quotes because every single node is farming rep, so this entire question is retarded) How are you ever going to change the outcome of a contract? You have one node. You need 51% of the contract's node and they've all been selected randomly. Go ahead and burn your staked LINK to do nothing.

It's baffling until you realize his intent, downplay it's importance. Interesting how little the skeleton and Sergey interact now. This was done on purpose. Eth needs Link. Wtf else would his number 2 man be spending time on the Link project, which he did. Look at all the eth based projects that have stated they are working or talking with Link. For Eth to have adoption and reach it's full potential they need Link.

This - Somebody needs to start a thread where we all post evidence in terms of screencaps or links relating to companies who have stated that they are talking to or are interested in using link and then compile that all into 1 doc. By doing so and looking at the timelines of other projects, we could get a better idea of when main net is to be released. Since there are likely NDA's involved we'll have to use circumstantial evidence and could narrow down a timeline. IMO this is much better than simply blurting out September or q2 2019 or any random date.

The attack isn't harder, it's just devaluing the reputation. Think 30 good poy points + 30 excellent child score = tendies. At that point just make 30 good boy points = tendies.
