How come no one here ever discuss traditional commodities? Stockies have their little club, but I never see a serious commodities thread. Sometimes people mention gold and silver, but mostly when comparing it to Bitcoin. I have literally never seen a thread about oil or corn.

because 7%/year is considered a "very good" return

Because you need an education to understand commodities and real money to truly appreciate them.
It is rare enough to find someone here with one of those, both are impossible.

I started out trading equities last year and didn't really get much out of it other than a few $.

I now trade commodities almost exclusively on the US market and not only am I becoming more profitable, but I'm learning a lot about interesting stuff about commodities with economic implications in my life. i.e. natural gas, crude oil, coffee beans, lithium, etc.

Because commodities are not a great way to make money unless you produce or distribute them, and obviously /biz/ doesn't have enough money to do that.

My family used to import lumber from Polish forests to Germany after the Cold War ended. We made millions. Don't forget about all of those billionaires created that sold Russian oil after the war.

In my opinion, commodities are great money if you can source them for massive margins but don't expect to make a lot of money when markets catch up.

I had access to a huge stock of 1070s during last year's bull run, not to mention only paid 0.68$/KWh. I started to mine ETH with them and tripled my money before I started to sell off my cards. The funny thing is I sold them more than I bought them new on average, although my reasoning was that even if the market didn't do too well, I could sell 1070s to gamers. The mining rewards $5-6 a day at the time I invested in the cards reasonably compensated me for the risk of potentially having to sell the cards for a 10-15% loss. I could cover selling costs in less than a week.

Day trading/swing trading commodities for income is absolute delusion. You are not going to beat the thousands of institutions trying to do this, and if you do your success will be short lived. You are not only competing with the best traders in the world, but trading with a significant informational disadvantage.

TL;DR: If you wanna make money with commodities have a competitive advantage when there is a change happening in the market.

the funniest part about all this is how you tards dont realize youre ALREADY trading one of the most controlled commodities out there. fuck, some of you might actually be good at this too, but most are too stupid to even think about it.

hey its up to you guys...

youre essentially doing the same thing with non real assets on unregulated exchanges (that are now owned by banks), betting against a bunch of banks whove eaten the whales, and are now manipulating you guys and suckering you into shorting on leverage (while they have the orerbooks in front of them, as they own the exchanges) and then blowing you the fuck out, all while they trade futures on it and making fiat off of being able to draw whatever lines they want with all of your stacks.

oh, and now you have to pay taxes on your crypto gains too if youre a burger. and SEC is getting involved now too

the list of actual advantages over real commodities is growing unbelievably thin right now, and like a couple of us have said, its almost the same shit.

but hey, your (total) loss trying to dryhump a bunch of dead cat bounces on crypto, praying that the normies will EVER return to save your ass, and pleading with the banks to let you moon to even 10k again.

unless youre a real stubborn faggot, theres no reason to not even consider it. oil for example has been on a fuck of a bull run lately
